Chapter 50 - On the verge of war.

GabriellaGabriella’s heart was pounding as she paced up and down the length of her bedroom. The council had voted that she should lead the war against the Wolf King. What the hell did she know about war? She had barely returned when everything in her life was turned upside down!“Hey, hey, hey.” Lucienne walked in and stopped her halfway through her stomping process. “What’s going on?” He frowned and she glared at him as if he should know by now what she was thinking. Their power could tell them all sorts of things, but it couldn’t always tell them people’s deepest, darkest thoughts. Or it might be if Gabriella had actually practiced. She sighed as she realized her thoughts were running away and Lucienne was still looking at her in anticipation of an answer.“I’m not equipped for this. I don’t have any war experience. I’ve only ever heard about the fights my parents had with rogues.” Her arms flew through the air as she sighed. “I don’t even think my parents ever fought a war!” She f

Chapter 51 - The sad truth about war ...

GabriellaMelody let her friends know that Eli was suspicious of her return, but at least her parents were safe. The soldiers took many of her parent’s friends prisoner, but Eli must have felt something for them because her mother explained that he made sure they were safe. Eli clearly still had feelings for Melody. What those feelings were, on the other hand, remained a mystery.Matthew, on the other hand, wasn’t doing that great to infiltrate the Wolf King’s men. They were a pretty tight group and he was beaten up pretty badly. To make sure they didn’t kill him, Gabriella ordered him to meet them at the border to the homelands. They could use every man they had. As soon as they were all a little rested after their move from the pack grounds, Gabriella couldn’t see why they should waste any more time. The Wolf KingIt wasn’t a surprise to hear that that damn female got an army together and was now just outside his border. He was standing in the old king’s war room with all his adviso

Chapter 52 - Venus and the wolf

GabriellaGabriella woke up with a start and it took a moment for her to realize she was in Melody’s room in Melody’s parent’s home. She flinched for a second as she sat up and felt the enormous bandage on her side. The memories of what happened rushed back and she rolled her eyes. Those damn angels! If they could hide the Wolf King, why the hell couldn’t they just heal her wounds? Why hadn’t her wound healed? The thought was awfully distressing as she got up and slowly made her way downstairs to where all the noise was coming from. Lucienne was pacing back and forth, growling terribly. Why the others around him tried to calm him down? As if feeling her presence, he looked up and rushed over. His arms carefully slipped around Gabriella and no amount of her protesting was going to stop him from carrying her over to the couch to sit down. She thanked him feeling grateful because this wound was tiring her out a lot.“Out with it?!” She ordered when all her friends kept looking at each ot

Chapter 53 - Taking a chance on love

VenusThe boy named Hunter tilted his head to one side looking amused but at the same time confused. Okay, fine, so he wasn’t a boy, but it was the only way Venus could bring herself to think about without THINKING about him! Was this how the wolves felt when they met their mates? All hot and bothered? Hell! She didn’t even know how demi-goddesses were meant to feel when they meet the love of their life!“Venus,” His voice was so damn smooth that she had to clench her legs together tightly to keep her arousal in check! She knew that wolves were able to smell it and she wasn’t about to give away the fact that she found him incredibly irresistible! “I don’t want anything from you.” He took a couple of steps closer and she sat down to put the table between them, making him smile as he leaned against the counter. He studied her for a moment while crossing his arms over his chest. “I want to be with the woman the moon goddess chose for me to be with. You.” He looked at the door as if heari

Chapter 54 - Angel tea.

GabriellaGabriella had been resting as much as she possibly could but could feel her strength deteriorating. They had to find the Wolf King and fast. She was still convinced that she was the only one who could care for him since she was the only one infected by his stupid demon magic! Just the thought made her furious. How could the angels allow anybody to get their hands on that kind of magic? Weren’t they supposed to protect people from it?She got up, cringing as pain shot through the side of her body and when she had a look at the wound, she could see that the poison had spread all the way up to just under her arm and her entire leg was covered in black veins. Her time was running out fast and the angels hadn’t come back with their so-called cure yet. Making her way to the window with a lot of trouble, she looked out at the camp below. People were talking and laughing and living their lives the best they could after the fight. The people who were down there had no place else to g

Chapter 55 - What will heal her?

GabriellaThe second cup of tea smelled strongly of peppermint and Gabriella enjoyed it even more than the first. She was feeling groggy and the last thing she remembered was Lucienne pulling the covers over her as if tucking her in. The angel explained to Lucienne that the second cup of tea had something in it to knock Gabriella out so she wouldn’t remember the pain she was about to go through. They had to extract the darkness from her wound and he suggested to Lucienne that he shouldn’t hang around for it, but Lucienne refused to leave her side. There was a huge possibility that Gabriella wouldn’t survive the procedure and he didn’t want to leave her alone if that happened. If his mate breathed her last breath, he wanted to be right there by her side. The angel nodded as more angels entered the room. One was carrying a large ancient book. One had a golden bowl and the last was carrying a strange glass bottle.Lucienne moved out of the way and watched as they removed the covers from

Chapter 56 - Finding a way out of the mess.

GabriellaAs she slowly opened her eyes, she groaned. It felt as if she had been through the toughest training session of her entire life. Every muscle was acing down to the bone and Gabriella’s first though was that it didn’t work! Whatever the angels did … It didn’t work! Lucienne rushed to her side the moment he realized she was awake and he smiled at her.“Don’t!” She tried to sit up and he helped her.“Don’t what?” He looked confused as she sighed.“Just don’t tell me. I don’t want to hear that it didn’t work and that you don’t want me to go after the Wolf King.” She couldn’t look at him. She had failed her people and she was going to die …“Hey.” His voice was soft and his touch even softer as he turned her face so she would look at him. “It worked!” His voice was filled with excitement as he started to unbutton the side of her gown. Gabriella looked at her perfectly healed skin where there used to be a gaping black hole!“It worked!” She squealed and was about to jump him when

Chapter 57 - "We are all going to be happy."

GabriellaIt took some time to get all the innocent people released from prison, but Gabriella knew that she had to do what she had to do if she was going to win the hearts and minds of the people from the homelands. In the end, she would need all their help to win this battle against the Wolf King. The goddess only knew what he was up to and where else he could be hiding more armies and, worst of all, how long he had been planning his takeover. So, she made sure that the people she could take care of were cared for while Lucienne and the gang tracked the Wolf King. She was healed and that was great, but she wasn’t entirely at her full strength yet, so she spent her days going through the court papers and arrest files of the people who were in prison. It was an amazing feeling when she could tell someone they were being released and then saw the look of gratitude on their family’s faces as they walked out. She was doing something to make things better. She was busy going through a fil

Chapter 58 - Something old, something new ...

MelodySince Melody had fairly recently arranged a wedding, she didn’t want to go through the entire process of all the fuss again. She wanted to make it special for Matthew, but she really didn’t want a carbon copy of what she planned with Eli. They also didn’t have a lot of time to plan something incredible because she really just wanted to marry Matthew and be happy. At least, for a little while before they went to war.The girls all jumped in and helped with the arrangements, but silence fell every so often when they thought of Zion. She was still missing and there was still no news. Gabriella had sent out scouts to try and find her, but the men had come up with no trace. After the Wolf King was basically run out of town, they went back to his pack house and found some of Zion’s hair in one of the rooms. It was almost as if she was trying to give them a message that she had been there, but there was nothing else. They only knew that she was there, but they found nothing else to te

Chapter 59 - A beautiful ceremony.

GabriellaGabriella was concerned that they might be attacked, but it soon became clear that they might just have a good day. What was the most surprising thing of all was to see Eli and his family in one of the front rows of the chamber. When the councillor came to the part where he asked if anybody present had any objections to the union, Gabriella’s attention turned to Eli, but he remained in his seat.Gabriella fought the urge to laugh as the ceremony continued and Melody and Matthew promised to love and honour each other for the rest of their lives. Gabriella had to admit that it really was a beautiful ceremony, and she stepped forward so she could officially make them part of the pack. Cutting her palm, she held it out to Melody, who did the same and as soon as their palms touched, Gabriella could feel Melody’s power flow through her.Since she had already made Matthew a pack member, that part wasn’t necessary. The time had come for the two of them to be linked and Gabriella han
