Chapter Sixty One

Third Person Pov“I’m assuming you already spoke to the girl,” Priscilla said as she walked into her mother's living room with a bored look on her face. “Well, I did speak to the child and she turned out to be just as interesting as I expected her to be,” Henrietta responded. “Did you offer her a job to come work with you?” Priscilla asked. “Sweetie, my only reason for inviting her here in the first place was to offer her the job but as you expected, she didn’t even make any attempt to think about it before refusing my offer,” Henrietta explained and Priscilla chuckled. “How very typical of girls like her. I expected her to be a goody-two-shoes and unfortunately, she didn't disappoint my expectations. So what now, mom? Are we just going to let her remain here by my brother's side? Seeing how she had refused you without even giving it a thought, goes to show how very loyal she is to him. And like I’ve said countless times, keeping somebody like her around my brother is a very dang

Chapter Sixty Two

Nicholas It’s been a week since I last saw Lydia and I’ve missed her so much to the point where I hated myself. I've never been the kind to get attached to anyone and the fact that I had gotten so attached to Lydia to the point of missing her was making me angry at myself. It was just very unlike me to be like this because usually, I wouldn't even think twice about someone like her but for the past week since the full moon party, she hadn't stopped popping in my head very frequently. I instructed Martha to inform her that I didn't want her to deliver my meals to me personally because I didn't want us to have any excuses to see each other and I also wanted to completely forget whatever happened between us that night. To me, what happened between us should have never happened and if it wasn’t for her instincts kicking in right on time, I would have completely lost myself and made the mistake of marking her. Sighing, I stared coldly and boredly at the pile of paperwork on my office

Chapter Sixty Three

Third Person Pov “Lydia met with that crazy woman? When? How? Where?” Nicholas asked, utterly confused. He couldn’t hide the fact that he was surprised to hear this and his anger immediately started to rise. “I got word today from one of the guys I have stationed at her palace and he told me that he had seen Lydia going into her chamber a few days ago and that yesterday, she had lunch with my aunt,” Liam explained. He could already guess that Nicholas was upset which was understandable since he was upset as well. He didn't like the fact that Lydia had been dragged into all this because he knew that the only reason why his aunt was even willing to see Lydia could only be because she was trying to trigger Nicholas. “And you didn't think that you needed to tell me this much sooner? You and I know that the only reason she's seeing Lydia is because she's trying to get at me, thinking that Lydia is somehow important to me,” Nicholas said, angry that Liam was just telling him something t

Chapter Sixty Four

Lydia When a guard suddenly came around and said that Nicholas was calling for me, I was surprised because he hasn’t spoken to me since the full moon party which was about a week ago, and I already told myself to expect that he was never going to speak to me again. I didn’t know if his reasons for calling me were good or bad but I was happy that I would finally get the chance to see him again. I also wanted to tell him about the situation with his stepmother and how she had constantly been inviting me over to her palace. The guard escorted me to the meeting room, pushing the door open for me and stepping back as soon as I entered.I immediately saw Nicholas from afar and he was seated on his throne with an unreadable expression on his face. “Good afternoon, Alpha,” I greeted, trying to mask the fact that I was slightly nervous. His expression didn’t look very welcoming but I didn’t want to imagine that he was upset with me or anything like that because I saw no reason why he sh

Chapter Sixty Five

Third Person PovNicholas frowned. “May I ask why you think you deserve an apology from me?” he asked, not understanding the reason behind Lydia’s sudden demand. He didn’t think that he had done anything that he needed to apologize for, so he was confused as to why she wanted an apology from him. “So you don’t think you need to apologize for completely ignoring me for the whole week and letting me go through the kind of humiliation I went through all through the week?” Lydia asked, now standing only a few feet away from him. She couldn’t go any further because the Alpha’s throne wasn’t just a space she could walk into however she pleased and she didn’t want to disrespect him that way. “I believe I mentioned earlier that my reason for ignoring you was because I wanted the rumors surrounding our relationship to die down,” Nicholas replied. “Which means that if the former Luna had not invited me over to her palace, I would have never gotten the chance to speak to you because you

Third Person Pov "I hope your reason for being here means that you have good news for me because I'm not about to have you waste my time," Henrietta said, as she sat tiredly on her throne. Kelly, her informant in Nicholas's palace had suddenly shown up and she was hoping that the girl had something important to say to her because she wasn't about to waste her time listening to unimportant information. "I apologize that I haven't gotten back to you in all this while, my Lady. Getting information on the Alpha has become even more difficult in the past couple of weeks but I came here to keep you up-to-date on the relationship between the Alpha and Lydia," Kelly responded. "Well, I'm already aware that there is some kind of distance between them but I'm guessing that is just my son's attempt to push away the rumors. What else could you possibly have to say to me?" Henrietta asked. Kelly sighed. "I don't think the rumors are the only reason why the alpha was avoiding Lydia. Someth

Chapter Sixty Seven

Third-Person Pov Alora stared blankly at Liam, as she watched him type away on whatever report he was working on. She had been sitting in his office for almost half an hour now, and she had still not said what she wanted to say to him, and neither had he bothered to ask her what she wanted. She was still waiting for him to act, but after realizing that he was too engrossed in his work to pay any attention to her, she decided to speak up first and push the pride aside. “So you're really not going to say anything to me despite the fact that I've been sitting here for almost half an hour?” she asked, not hiding the disappointment in her tone at all. Liam looked up at her with a look of disbelief on his face, rolling his eyes before going back to paying attention to his computer screen. “I initially thought you just came here to stare at my face, seeing how you didn't say anything. Don't tell me you were expecting me to speak to you first and ask you questions when you're the on

Chapter Sixty Eight

Lydia I was chopping away some vegetables for the Alpha's dinner, trying not to pay attention to the fact that everyone around me had their eyes on me despite having things to do. At this point, I was already so used to the attention that it no longer bothered me as much as it used to, even though I'd still prefer it if they stopped staring at me so that I can concentrate one hundred percent without the knowledge of being stared at. I still wasn't sure what Nicholas meant yesterday by saying that he was going to try to help me out, but I was hoping he did whatever he had to as soon as possible because I was so sick and tired of getting mocked. I honestly didn't mind them being jealous of the fact that I was close to Nicholas, but having to deal with them mocking me and acting like I was at a loss, was definitely annoying the hell out of me. “Lydia, sweetie, can you help Tara with the baking when you're done? She needs some extra hands,” Martha said when she walked in, and immedi

Chapter Sixty Nine

Third Person Pov Nicholas was completely perplexed, seeing the tears in Lydia's eyes. He couldn't understand how what he said could have brought tears to her eyes. And he would have assumed they were happy tears if she didn't look like she wanted to give him a tight slap across his face. “Did I do something wrong?” he asked, and Lydia's scowl deepened. “Do you even have the right to ask me that question? Do you really have no idea what you did wrong?” Lydia questioned. She was furious at the fact that he had such a cool and come look on his face, despite the fact that he just threw her directly into the fire that she was trying to avoid being in. Nicholas could feel the anger that was boiling through her and immediately, he started to think of the best thing to say so that he doesn't end up making her even angrier than she already was. He still wasn't exactly sure what he had done wrong, so he was going to slowly ask her to explain to him. Sighing, “Listen, Lydia, I honestly don

Chapter Seventy

Third Person Pov Nicholas walked closer to Lydia, closing the space that was between them before leaning down to her height. He stared at her for a few seconds as several thoughts ran through his mind before leaning back up and taking a step back from her. “What was that for?” Lydia asked, not hiding the irritation in her voice. She didn't like the fact that he had leaned in so closely, giving her false hope and making her think that he had wanted to kiss her.“Just making sure you weren't drunk or high on something,” Nicholas lied. He definitely wasn't going to admit to her that he was thinking of kissing her, but that he had controlled himself because she didn't want to give her false hope or give in to his crazy attraction to her. He no longer bothered denying to himself that he was attracted to her because there was honestly no point in denying the obvious. Lydia was crazily attractive and addictive, and he would be lying if he said he didn't want to do things to her right a
