Chapter 61

Josie POV My heart sinks when Elder Morris says one of us has to die to determine if we can get a second chance. I knew what he meant. We would die and then when we came back, assuming we came back, we would be able to determine if we were second chance mates. I hated to think of a life without Sam and I hate myself for rejecting him in the first place. I hear the chatter around me, but I am consumed in my thoughts. Something occurs to me, “What about the spells?” I say quietly. “What spells?” Elder Morris asks. “We are both affected by spells. Sam’s is removed but I still have a spell wrapped around me; or rather I hope it is a spell,” I say looking to Miranda. Miranda nods, “You do. It is a complex one and one I will work on with Sarah to break down,” she replies. “Hmmm. Well, we have never encountered two wolfs affected by spells before. Maybe, just maybe, the Moon Goddess will give you a break,” Elder Morris muses as he considers th

Miranda POV “Again Sarah,” I demand of her. She is getting tired, but she needs to be focused and strong by the time I leave in a few days. I have to get home to my own pup. I miss him terribly when I am away. I do not go very often but when I do, I am increasingly homesick. Fortunately, Alpha Jared allows Rick to travel with me when I am on a special case. Rick is Beta of the Black Shadow Pack and has his own duties to attend to. In this case, it is definitely special. But Sarah is up to the demands that will be placed on her. I have woven intricate spells that are signatures of some of the greatest and strongest witches and warlocks. Having worked for the Witches Council at a young age, I have first-hand experience with some of the best and the worst our species has to offer. More so the worst, I contemplate as I consider the years I have put into fighting against evil. Sarah is getting faster at unthreading spells and even faster at setting them

Chapter 63

Josie POV I had no idea what to wear. Everything I had was jeans, tank tops and leather jackets. I felt like this date I should try to be a little different. Not that Sam would care one way or the other. I understood he likes me just the way I am. Sounds corny but it means the world to me. Nobody has ever cared about me and now I have two people who care. Sam and Jenna. Jenna was a surprise. I admit I still had my days of bitterness that she had our mother, and I did not. But then I would remind myself of the circumstances that surrounded my mother giving birth to Eric and me. In her shoes, I suspect I would have felt the same and wanted nothing to do with the offspring of that monster, my father. Deciding to ask Jenna for some help, I stop by her office and knock on the door. She calls me to come in and I walk in to see her and Sarah sitting there talking. Both quietened down when I walked in. “I am sorry, I will come back later,”

Chapter 64

Josie POV That was my uncle. How was this possible? I vaguely remembered meeting him when I was much younger. But I had not known he had wiccan powers. I cannot remember how or why he even still exists. “How is it possible he is your uncle, Josie?” Adam asks once we are in the SUV and on our way back to the Pack house. He had mind-linked ahead advising Sam and Jack of our encounter. We are all meeting at the Pack house as soon as we return. “I do not know. I simply remember meeting him once when I was much younger. He was introduced to me as my uncle, but I was never given his name,” I say to Adam distracted by the appearance of the man. “He definitely looks like your father, but why did he show up in public in front of all of us?” Adam asks. “I do not know. Sarah, do you have any idea why he would show up like that?” I ask her. She looks at me, “No, I have no idea. Unless Miranda is too strong for him and that is why he has not shown

Chapter 65

Josie POV The moment I saw Sam, I felt the butterflies in my stomach dancing around. He is simply gorgeous. I cannot take my eyes off him. He leans forward and captures my lips in a gentle kiss. He pulls back and smiles at me. “You look amazing, babe,” he says before leaning into whisper in my ear, “I cannot wait to see what is underneath that beautiful dress,” he says as he pulls me closer to his body. I am pretty sure my heart just skipped a beat. The promises of what was to come this evening. Taking my hand, Sam pulls me from my suite and closes the door behind me. “Oh, I forgot my bag,” I start to say when he chuckles, “Anything you need, you can use mine,” he says confidently. “Where are we going?” I ask as he walks me toward the stairs. “You will see,” he says as he starts to go upstairs. “Are we skipping the date?” I ask with a bit of nerves still rolling around inside. I was pretty confident earlier today but now that the moment

Chapter 66

Josie POV Sam was still inside me. We were both enjoying the aftershocks of our orgasms. “That was incredible,” Sam teases me. I smile feeling a little self-conscious. I did not expect to be so vocal, but the man brought out a side of me I cannot say I am sorry about. “It was amazing,” I reply softly. Sam leans forward into my neck smelling me. He is nuzzling my marking spot. It is an intoxicating feeling and one of the most sensitive areas on a wolf. As I am lost in the moment, I suddenly feel teeth against my skin. They are starting to pierce my flesh when I yell “No!” and push Sam off me. I feel the loss of him immediately, but my heart is beating rapidly. “What were you doing?” I cry out confused at his actions. I look over to Sam. He is laying on his back with his arm over his eyes. He is breathing heavily and just trying to compose himself. I want him to mark me but not like this. “I want you Josie,” he says quietl

Chapter 67

Sam POV After a night of making up, Josie and finally settled with me wrapped around her warm body. I was tracing the lines of one of the many scars across her body. “Are you going to tell me about these?” I ask her softly kissing her shoulder where one was. “Does it matter?” she asks. “Everything about you matters to me, baby,” I reply. I know Josie is a very private person and I knew she was self-conscious of everything about herself. I saw them when she was first naked, but I did not want her to doubt her sexuality or attractiveness to me. Now, though, I wanted to understand. I suspected they came from her bastard of a father, but I needed her to say it to me. To trust me. I wait patiently as I hold her in my arms. At one point I thought she must have fallen asleep, but she cleared her throat and began telling me the story of her father. “When I was three, I had run into a meeting the Rogue King was hosting. I was excited to show him

Chapter 68

Sarah POV I had been wishing there was more that I could do to help Miranda, and in turn Josie. Josie had saved my life in that dungeon. If she had not been there, I am not certain I would have survived. I was currently practicing with the elite team of warriors who were made aware of my powers. They were skeptical at first of my abilities until I toppled them all on their asses repeatedly until they burst out laughing and waved the proverbial white flag. Today we were practicing me setting up barriers and for them to be able to be ready to go the moment I release the barrier. This is a delicate process. They have to wait for a signal, that we have all agreed to, from me to indicate the shield is down. Many have jumped the gun and been tossed on their asses. After it happens once, it does not happen again I think with a chuckle. We have all grown to be more in tune with our timing and perfecting our responses to one another.

Chapter 69

Sarah POV I sat there looking at Jack. He was my future. He was my everything. But my brother mattered to me. I could not sit there and deny that holding my brother and removing his pain was tempting to me. I had been where he was. I had been abused and expected death. Was that what he was thinking? That he would die any day. Tears formed in my eyes, and I saw Jack shake his head. I could feel his fear vibrating off him. I continued to look at Jack as I whispered, “No.”. “No?” the warlock stated as if he was not sure who I was speaking with. “No; I am not coming with you,” I said louder to him. I kept my eyes on Jack’s face. I saw his shoulders sag in relief and then he pulled me tightly into his arms. “I am sorry to hear that,” the warlock says. “He will have to be punished until I can punish you myself,” he says. “Give him a message from me – tell him I am coming for him,” I say looking deep into the eyes of the warlock.

Chapter 70

Sam POV Looks like Jack had the same idea. Sarah was sitting with him on the couch, leaving the chairs in front of Adam’s desk for Josie and me. I was holding Josie’s hand and pulled her chair closer to mine so I could still touch her. Jenna was sitting with Adam in his lap. “I called the Beta of the Harvest Moon Pack. Alpha Lucas has been missing for a month and Lana has not been seen since we captured her. The Pack is falling apart, and they are asking for our help,” Adam says. “Why didn’t they call sooner?” I ask concerned with their sudden desire for help only after we called. “I asked that. The answer I received indicates they did not know who to turn to as they did not want to appear weak in front of their allies,” Adam replies. Nodding, “I can see that but to be without your Alpha for over a month. That sounds fishy,” Jack adds. I agree with him. It is too coincidental. Sarah clears her throat, “The Beta has always challenged Luc
