Chapter 71

Josie POV This guy was pissing me off. Clearly, he was an arrogant prick who knew more than he was letting on. My skin crawled when he hugged Sarah. If he knew she was a witch, he could have been trying to determine what type of barrier she might have put up. Fortunately, we all had protection spells, but we could not be too careful. Walking up the stairs closely beside Beta Steve, I could not wait to get him alone. “Where is everyone?” Sarah asks the Beta. “They are still here, just where they should be. In their homes or working,” he snarls at Sarah. He was bound by her powers now; unable to communicate with anyone, and he was pissed. “What about the children?” Jack asks. “They are in a special daycare. Their parents do as their told and their children remain safe,” Beta Steve smirks. “And if they do not?” Jack asks. “Let us just say they get a reminder, and then the pup suffers if the parents do not do as is expected,” Steve smirks

Chapter 72

Josie POV I step forward as the rogues steps all falter. “Rogue Queen,” they all say bending to their knees in respect for my position. I look at everyone one of them in pity. They were doing what they were commanded to do, but they would all die here today. “Rise and take us to the prisoner,” I say coldly. They immediately rise and quickly scurry to be the first to open the door. “Nobody touches anyone who is with me. They are under my protection; if anyone tries to harm them you protect them with your lives,” I say coldly as they all stare nodding their heads. The only things rogues fear is the Rogue King, or in this case, me … the Rogue Queen. Half of the warriors remain outside to protect the perimeter. Sarah runs ahead of us before Jack can stop her. We did not want her to see her brother in the shape we anticipated he would be in. That was if he was even here. As Sarah ran around the corner ahead of us, we heard her gasp as she grabbed the s

Chapter 73

Sam POV I watched Josie take over as soon as we arrived at the Harvest Moon Pack, and I could not be prouder. She was in her element, and I recognized she was strong in her own her right. I knew it before but really saw and felt it when she took over as the Rogue Queen. I knew she did not want to be the Rogue Queen; however, I could not help but wonder if our relationship would be enough for her. We had finished letting the Harvest Moon Pack members free. We had gathered intel to share with the Werewolf’s Council. The Werewolf’s Council was the regulator for our kind. When things went south and they could not be resolved at the local level, they inevitably made their way to the Werewolf’s Council. We were building the case against Lana, Tim, and whomever was this wizard. We knew taking down the wizard would be difficult as they fell under the Wiccan Council; however, we were going to ask Miranda how best to proceed in that case. Right now,

Chapter 74

Jack POV I bent over the woman named Tina to find she was dead. “Sweetheart we wanted to get more information from her,” I commented to her as I stood up from the dead wolf. “Too bad, she had to die,” Sarah replied coldly. “She was friends with Lana. I never saw many others around them, now that I think about it,” Sarah adds. I move closer to Sarah, but she steps away from me. Confused I let her have her space, planning to talk to her as soon as we had some time alone. “We should figure out sleeping arrangements for the next couple of nights,” I suggest. “We will sleep in my room, assuming it is still mine,” Sarah replies. “We will find a room for you both as well,” Sarah adds looking at Sam and Josie. Nodding Sam takes Josie’s hand, “We should do that sooner than later. I want to be settled before Tim arrives and we do not have much time before that is supposed to happen,” Sam suggests. We head towards the Pack house where some of the O

Chapter 75

Josie POV “Come with me, Josie,” Tim says. “Where are the children?” I ask him. “We will return the children once I have you safely in my arms,” he replies. My skin crawls thinking about being in his arms. “I do not believe you; let Sam go, return the children and I will go with you,” I reply to him. Sam continues to fight against the rogue holding him down. It is hardly a fair fight. Two rogues are holding Sam down while the other has him in a death grip. Sarah is standing beside me, as I see her raise her hands. Leaves start swirling around all of us similar to a mini tornado. Many are trying to back away from the phenomenon but there is a barrier stopping them from leaving the circle. The rogues holding Jack back from Sam start to loosen their grips, allowing Jack to free himself and run toward the rogues holding Sam down. Jack rips one off Sam and fights him tearing the throat out of the rogue. The distractions allow Sam to shift en

Chapter 76

Sarah POV “I will make those decisions, Jack,” I say to my mate as he tries to tell me what I can and cannot do. Jack drops Tim before we reach the dungeons taking hold of my shoulders. “You cannot be serious, Sarah. This guy may not even be legitimate. Let’s wait and see who he is before we jump on board with his crap story,” Jack snarls before turning to reach for Tim. “Do not tell me what I can and cannot do,” I reply surprising him. Jack turns with a smirk on his face. “I am all for women power and world peace, sweetheart, but when it comes to you and your safety, you can damn well bet that I will be chiming in my two cents worth,” Jack replies. He reaches for Tim tossing him effortlessly over his shoulder. We continue walking as Matt is now being carried by Sam. “Did you or did you not just hear him admit to leaving you to rot in that dungeon?” Jack demands angrily. “Or perhaps the fact that they left you there for a month, does not

Chapter 77

Josie POV I overheard Sam speaking with Adam. I knew things were complicated for us, I just wish I had not been such a fuck up and rejected him the first time. This would all be different. Or maybe it would not be different. Regardless, I had to accept that we had some more trials to deal with. Sam moves forward pulling me into his arms. “We will get through this babe,” he promises me as he rubs my back slowly. I lean closer into him, “I hope so,” I whisper. “Do not give up, Josie, promise me you will not do anything rash,” Sam requests leaning back to look me in the eyes. “I promise,” I reply with a small smile. “So, what is wrong?” I ask with hesitation. Did I really want to know? Sam explained to me that we needed Miranda to help with the breaking of the bond before we killed Tim. Sam hoped she would come tomorrow, now that they would know we have him. “We need to focus on the end prize, Josie; being together,” he says co

Chapter 78

Alpha Lucas The pain is gut wrenching. I cannot believe I am free of the dungeons. I expect to wake up and this all be a dream. I had lost full connection with my wolf, Ashton, at some point during my rescue. I could feel him at the furthest point of my mind and prayed to the Moon Goddess he would hold on. Taking a deep breath, I open my eyes and turn my head slowly. It is not a dream. I see my beautiful sister Sarah; although she is with a man I barely recognize. He was familiar but I could not remember why. Suddenly they both look at me and are surprised to see my eyes open. Remembering the mind-link call that the pups had been returned is what originally pulled me from my healing slumber, “Are they okay?” I ask hoarsely. My throat was sore and scratchy. Sarah jumped up reaching for a glass of water with a straw in it. She gave me a couple sips before pulling it away from me. I growl softly, but she replies, “Too much will make you s

Chapter 79

Sam POV I have my arm tossed around Josie’s waist as she lays naked on the bed face down. I find her sleep patterns cute to observe. She usually starts off in my arms but eventually pushes out of them to lay on her front dragging my arm around her. She always wants to be touching me, which is one of the many things I love about her. Jack had advised me that Alpha Lucas had woken up last night briefly but was resting again. We would check in first thing this morning with them to see what he knew or remembered. Josie started to stir, and I leaned forward kissing her back. She moans and pushes back into my arms. I wrap my arms around her body and hold her tightly to me. “Good morning baby,” I murmur in her ear. She semi growls as I have learned she is not a morning person willingly. She will get up and go but her first choice is to stay in bed longer. And I admit I quite enjoy that little trait she has. But for now, we are both

Chapter 80

Josie POV I was anxious now that Miranda was finally here. I wondered what she could tell me since I had seen her last. Moving forward, Miranda surprised me by hugging me. “Let’s stay positive, Josie; I have a better understanding of what we are up against. My goal today is to break any ties that exist between you and Tim,” she says with the voice of someone making a promise. I felt a little ray of hope cross over me as I embraced the woman tighter in my arms. I had never been one to hug, but since meeting these people I understood what it meant to draw on one another’s strength through connection. Stepping back, Miranda says, “Now let’s go get you unconnected,” she says taking my hand with a smile. I look at Sam and see the big smile he is sporting. I smile back at him hoping we will both still be smiling at the end of the day. “I currently have a spell on Tim, so he cannot communicate with anyone outside,” Sarah offers to Miranda. “That
