Chapter 141

Sarah POV Being stuck in this bed while everything was happening around me was infuriating. I knew things were happening and everyone was being great keeping me in the loop; however, finding things out after the facts was killing me. Not being able to help or provide support was difficult to tolerate. As I lay there waiting for Jack to return with food, I contemplated getting up. Just for a few minutes. But I knew better. I was simply frustrated at the waiting. At my last check-up both Jenna and the Obstetrician indicated that I was doing extremely well. That was promising and they both agreed it was. Even if I get off a bed rest, I would still be limited to what I could do. I would need to take caution with a lot of things, but at least I would be able to go to the washroom on my own and have a shower on my own. I turned my frown into a smile as Jack walks into our suite. He knew I was frustrated, and he was getting frustrated not being ab

Chapter 142

Josie POV As Miranda arrives in the room, she first fusses over the very happy mom and then baby Gracie. Gracie’s name fit this little girl so much, it was amazing how Jenna and Adam selected such a perfect name. Sam and I had not started talking about names for our pup, but we still had time. It was exciting to see the first of our pups born. And it was a little intimidating. We would be responsible for a small wolf. Shaking my head, I smiled as Miranda held out her hands to hold the pup. Looking at Jenna for the okay, she smiled and nodded. Not that I did not trust Miranda, but Gracie was not my pup. Handing her over, while holding her head, Miranda scooped her up like an old pro. Having had a pup of her own, it would not be foreign for her to hold pups. And if I recall correctly her Luna had a couple pups of her own. “Oh my, this is a special little wolf,” Miranda murmurs as Jenna beams. Adam still looks a little frazzled. “I thin

Chapter 143

Sam POV We were all tense as we waited for Daniel and Shane to arrive to discuss our proposal. Through Lucas we had been able to reach Daniel. Daniel had agreed to come, with Shane, immediately. Adam, Jack, and I were impatiently waiting for them to enter the territory. We managed to convince our women to sit this meeting out. With Sarah just coming off bedrest we did not want her to be compelled to use her powers. Josie was expecting our pup, and we did not want to give too much information about her or Sarah’s pregnancies. And finally, Jenna had quite literally just had Gracie. We would not risk the lives of our mates. Looking around the room, “Do we think this will work?” I ask Adam and Jack. Adam looks at both of us, “It has to work, or they will never stop until they have Josie,” he replies. Nodding our heads, “Miranda and Sarah are working on ways to access the data once Josie and Sarah have their pups,” Jack offers. “I ha

Chapter 144

Josie POV It had been a couple of days and we still had not heard back from the Council. It was uncertain whether they were seriously considering our offer, or they were planning an attack to acquire the information. Lucas had reached out to see how Daniel was during the visit. From what I heard he was very quiet and just listened to everyone. He and Shane were both very quiet. “Hey babe, want to go for a run?” Sam asks me. I look at him in surprise. “Really? You have not allowed me to go for a run in weeks,” I reply. “I know but I realize you will not have much longer that you can shift into your wolf. I want Chance to see Alexis before he cannot for a couple months,” Sam shares with me. He pulls me into his arms, “So what do you and Alexis think about that?” he asks nuzzling my neck. “Alexis and I would love that,” I reply giggling at his tickling my sensitive marking spot. Smacking my ass, Sam replies, “Great, let’s get going. I have a

Sam POV “The worst was yet to come. What the fuck does that mean?” I ask everyone. “Maybe what Daniel told us was not accurate?” Josie asks. “I do not know but it sure would be nice to get through a week without some kind of threat,” Jack adds. Adam looks at us, “Is anyone going to update me on what you learned with the rogue?”. Realizing we had not even had a chance to share anything with Adam, “Well Josie realized that the Council is trying to set Daniel up,” I share. Adam looks to Josie, “Oh?”. “Well, it seemed odd to me that we had been attacked by rogues immediately after Daniel had given us his heads up,” Josie says as Adam nods. “Given that, I asked the rogue who sent him. At first, he said Daniel, but after pushing him, he advised us that it was actually Alpha Stevens who sent him. He also advised us that Alpha Stevens wants Daniel dead,” she offers as Adam quickly picks up the phone. “Alpha Lucas? We need to advise you of something

Chapter 146

Josie POV As we sat around the conference room table, I could not help but be overwhelmed with the power sitting at this table. Alpha Colby and Luna Kate, representing both the Golden Moon Pack and the Silver Crescent Pack, had fought their own battles with the Council over the years. Particularly around their niece, Amelie. Colby and Kate have two children of their own – Olivia and Oliver. And their adopted daughter, Colby’s niece Amelie. Amelie was poisoned by rogues when she was just six years old. She was given wolfsbane for an extended period of time. They are still unaware of the damage this may have caused Amelie and her wolf. She turns sixteen next month. The normal time an Alpha wolf will get her wolf. Turns out the Wolf Council has been following Amelie’s case quite closely. While they did nothing at the time of her poisoning to help her, they are curious to learn more about the extended uses of wolfsbane. They want to know what

Miranda POV The more everyone kept Stevens on the line the more I could find a link to him. The link drew me to the place he was currently holed up. Shockingly he was at the Council’s offices. There was a location deep underground that he had taken over. While there were a limited number of wolves surrounding him inside the building, I could sense a significant number of rogues surrounding the Wolf Council. Without realizing it, everyone was helping me achieve my goal of finding Stevens. I could not pick up the vibe of Daniel but that did not mean he was not alive. It simply meant he could be unconscious. There was still hope that he was alive. He may have been tortured but Lucas would help Daniel heal from whatever he had been through. “What do you mean?” Kate asks equally excited. “The more you talked to Stevens, the more I could trace where he was located. I know where he is,” I say once again. “Where?” Lucas asks coldly. I hesitate.

Chapter 148

Sarah POV I finally had an opportunity to help support this effort. I knew it was minimal but at least I could keep track of Miranda. I would feel when she would have to cut the attachment to me. Me sharing my powers allowed her to extend the use of hers so it would give her an extra ten minutes at best. Rick stands and starts to pace. I say nothing. Nobody offers any words of platitude. There is nothing that can be done or said to make this any better. Kate and Jenna are discussing strategies quietly for when Miranda arrives back. Strategies that include if she is compromised in any way. Jack moves towards me, but I shake my head no. Anything could break our connection and it was not going to be me being distracted. The longer I could hold the connection, the longer she would have support. We did not know what she would encounter when she arrived, but my added powers would ensure her success. I wish I could see what she was seeing. I wi

Chapter 149

Josie POV It was taking too long. We all knew it. Nobody was saying it, but we knew. She should have returned by now. It had been ten minutes since she had broken her connection with Sarah. Ten long minutes of Rick pacing, everyone watching their clocks. “She will come back. She promised,” Rick mutters. Before anyone could say anything there was this goddess awful sound of something falling. And then suddenly before our eyes was Miranda and Daniel. Both of them full of blood. Rick is the first to reach Miranda, “I am okay, Rick, I am okay,” she says as she passes out. This is normal, I remind myself. Whenever she uses her powers, she needs Rick to help bring her back. Jenna is there to try and reach for Miranda, wanting to check her head wound. From what I could tell it was something Jenna could easily mend as she brushed her hand over it, and it stopped bleeding. Wanting to do a thorough check of Miranda, Jenna murmurs to Rick, “Let’s

Chapter 150

Kate POV I had witnessed my share of injured warriors, but I have never seen a wolf survive this level of torture. There were so many things happening at once it was hard to keep up with them. Even with the Pack Hospital’s doctor, Jenna, and myself – it felt like we were fighting a losing battle. I could hear this man’s mate yelling in the hallway. It was a distraction we did not need. Jenna asked Adam through their mind-link to try and remove him. I understood how hard it was to leave your mate, but right now we needed to focus one hundred percent. As I heard the yelling fade away, I was able to focus more intently on what was happening in front of us. Daniel was crashing as Jenna jumped up trying to stem the blood flow. The gunshot wound was causing us the most worry at the moment. While the other injuries would have to be fixed, the gunshot wound, with the wolfsbane and silver, continued to ooze blood. I needed to get in there and remov
