Chapter 111

Sam POV “What the hell happened today, Josie?” I ask as I look at our fallen warrior. I see the warriors travelling with us arrive on the scene and I see their look of sadness momentarily before they cover their emotions like a good warrior does. There is no time for grieving on the field. That was for later. “This Shane guy says he is my brother,” she murmurs to me as if she is still confused by what has happened as well. “How?” I ask perplexed by what she is saying. She pulls herself together as she looks at me. “I do not have all the details. Only that he came from my birth mother and father after Eric and I were born,” Josie shares with me. What a fucked up mess. “And now he is trying to kill our people?” I ask. “That part I do not understand. We were bringing him in for further questioning when his vehicle was hit,” Josie replies. “And then we took off. I saw people pull Shane from the wreckage, but I did not realize he was with th

Chapter 112

Josie POV We are sitting in the conference room, and I am staring off into space. I can hear the conversation around me, but I am not participating. I am trying to piece together the puzzle that has presented itself once again to me. I was desperate to know what was on the real letter that was hidden away somewhere. I know it might be foolish to hope one existed, but I had to believe in something. And that letter had carried me through some dark times so far, I suspected it would carry me through more in the coming days. I kept replaying Shane’s final words. “They will be coming for me.”. Did he mean the part of the Council who was trying to take over the Council? The Council in general? I could not piece together why the Council would risk themselves by trying to save Shane. If he was even working with them. Sighing I refocused on the conversation around me. “I am telling you; we need to let Josie unleash her powers on the prick,” Jac

Chapter 113

Jenna POV “What?!?” I reply as I hear what Josie has said. Our mother is alive. My heart starts racing. Where has she been all this time? Was she there of her own choice? Was she being held against her will? I cannot stop all the thoughts racing through my mind. As I stand there I start to shake and feel tears welling up in my eyes. These damn hormones have made me more emotional than usual; however, this was a big revelation. Was it true? How was it even possible? We had been told she had died with my father. As I feel all these emotions Adam moves to stand in front of me cupping my face with his hands. “Jenna,” he says quietly. I slowly focus in on him as he repeats my name. There they are – the eyes of my mate. Trying to breathe I realize I am starting to hyperventilate. “Just breathe, Jenna. Follow my breaths,” Adam says calmly. I start to watch him. Breathe in. Breathe out. We followed that pattern for the time it took to c

Chapter 114

Sam POV “Fuck,” I reply as we sit there considering what Adam has said. “I guess we do not know that and nor will we know that until we go in and investigate to see what is real and what is not real,” I reply to Adam and Jack. “Are you prepared to risk your mate for this, Sam?” Adam asks me. “As much as I want to say no, I have to appreciate that Josie is going to say fuck all of us and do what she wants if I do not support her. So, I guess I am prepared to take a mitigated risk. Meaning I will be with her, if she goes after her mother alone,” I reply calmly and honestly to both men. Shaking his head Adam replies, “Nobody is going off alone. I just need to be confident we are doing everything we can to protect your mates.”. I nod in agreement appreciating the support from Adam. “Sarah will want to help,” Jack adds, and I realize he is right. “She brings a lot of power herself to this,” I say to Jack and Adam. “She certainly do

Chapter 115

Sarah POV As we were walking toward the SUV’s I caught a glimpse of something coming around the building and heading directly for us at optimum speed. It had an intent that meant more harm than good. Wanting to protect everyone, I throw up a protection barrier, preventing the menacing men from reaching us. Suddenly the warriors were surrounding us as I realize we had all been pushed to the ground. Scrambling, I jump up wanting to ensure the protection barrier stays. I see Josie help Jenna up. Both look fine. Jenna looks a little shaken up but that is to be expected of anyone carrying their future pup. Once she was certain Jenna was alright Josie turned her glare on the two men who had been trying to reach us. Only they were gone. In my haste to protect, I had not contained them at the same time. “Release the barrier,” Josie yells. I do and Josie takes off in the direction the two men ran. “Josie, wait!” I yell trying to catch up. I he

Chapter 116

Josie POV Ugh, I think, again I am out? Hasn’t this been enough already? I contemplate what went wrong. Well for one I should have waited for someone to come with me. But would that have really stopped me from getting stabbed? I doubted it very much and in fact, wondered if it might have been Sam who got hurt instead of me. Or both of us and Sam left for dead. Whatever, I would not change it if it meant that I was wounded, and Sam was not. “Josie, you need to stop taking chances,” I hear from someone behind me. I turn to see the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. The Moon Goddess has returned to speak with me. “Moon Goddess?” I ask to be certain. “Yes child,” she murmurs before continuing, “What am I going to do with you?” she questions sounding frustrated. I smile at that, “I suspect I am going to hear that from my mate as well when I wake up,” I suggest to her. She was not smiling. “Josie, this is serious. You cannot keep taking

Chapter 117

Sam POV My mind was exploding. “What?” I ask uncertain if I heard Josie right. “We are having a pup,” Josie repeats with her smile weakening. “How?” I ask. “How?” Josie asks uncertain what I was asking. “I mean when? Or how? I do not know what I mean!” I reply as I sit there in complete shock. “Are you not happy?” Josie asks cautiously. I look at her still in shock and I realize she is thinking I am not happy about the pup. I lean down and kiss her softly before I reply, “I am not just happy, baby, I am ecstatic!” I say to her before I capture her lips in a more demanding kiss. I want to get her back to our room and show her just how happy I am to hear this amazing news. “Are you happy?” I ask Josie. I knew she had not had the best time growing up and I wondered what was going through her mind. “I am thrilled but terrified,” she replies. “I will be with you every step of the way,” I promise her. “I am counting on that. I did not have

Chapter 118

Sarah POV I loved how Josie had come out of her shell. She was always stunning, but she grew more beautiful as you got to know her and see her for herself. We were in the process of getting our hair and makeup done for tonight’s ceremonies. We had a late lunch so we would not be hungry before the evening’s festivities. Tonight, would start with Adam and Jenna entering the event hall. Then Jack and Sam would enter the hall and finally Josie and I would enter. My brother, Lucas, is able to attend this evening, so he is going to walk both Josie and I to the head of the room where the ceremonies will take place. He was thrilled when I asked him and even more touched when Josie shyly asked if she could join us. He has been checking on us throughout the afternoon to see if we needed anything, to the point we finally told him to go check on the guys. I laughed as Lucas took the hint and went to look for Adam, Sam, and Jack. While we

Chapter 119

Lucas POV Holding Daniel in my arms was a dream come true. I could not believe he was in front of me. I had dreamed of this moment for so long it seemed surreal. I kissed the top of his head before pulling back slightly, “How are you here?” I ask him excitedly. Had he come home for good? I could only hope he was done whatever mission he had been on. He shakes his head, clearing his throat, “No, I am not coming home yet,” he says as he pulls away. “Why are you here?” I ask feeling my heart crumble a little, but equally thrilled to see him even for a few moments. “It is far worse than I thought it would be,” he says quietly. “How do you mean?” I ask wondering what hell he is going through. “I cannot get too far into it. The less you know the better. But for now, I just needed to see you. To remind myself of why I am doing this,” Daniel says as he turns away from me. I move behind him wrapping my arms around his waist, resting my chin on hi

Chapter 120

Josie POV I felt nerves roll over me. I still had this fear that everyone would reject me once Adam tried to bring me into the Pack. I had no idea what to expect. I had never been part of a Pack before and I still did not fully understand rituals, and what it meant to be a Pack member. I knew I would die for the Pack but was that enough? I was also surprised at how extravagant everyone looked. They were all dressed as if it was a gala event. I realized swearing in your Beta Female and Gamma Female would be important, I just did not realize that Packs took these things as seriously as they did. Like everything mattered and deserved to be celebrated. I realized things were very quiet and saw Adam looking at me along with the others. Clearing my throat, I simply looked at him so he would repeat the question. “Do you, Josie Matthews, accept the Red Pine Pack as your Pack?” Adam asks. Nodding, “Yes, I would be very proud to be a member of th
