CHAPTER SIXTY-ONE

Alex's POV(…missing heir)He yelled at Bernie and every guard he could find, as they all scrambled around in search of Diane. Collins, whom he had suspected, was now standing in front of him and yet, his daughter still went missing unnoticed, again. “How difficult can it be to look after just one child?!“, he yelled at Harry, as other guards joined them in the fruitless search for the princess. “I'm replacing every single one of you. All!““Alpha!. I found something?“, the Beta, who had joined the search immediately it was announced, ran towards Alex.“Did you find her?!“, Alex asked, boiling in rage and fright for his daughter—the only hope for the future of the pack.“No, Alpha. We haven't found her. But I found a piece of paper in her room”, Mike replied.“You must be out of your mind. What has that got to do with my missing child?! If it's not a suicide note, it's of no value to me“, Alex hollered, pacing uncontrollably and informing the trained warriors and hunters of the pack.

CHAPTER SIXTY-TWO

Diane's POV (…the enemy's side) She could feel the pores all over her skin opening up and oozing out sweat. The trickles travelled down her face rapidly as she blinked her eyes periodically to sharpen her blurry gaze. Her hands were far apart, hanging above her heads and her two legs were split apart, fastened to a metal rod, standing opposite each other. A strong stench of burning wood filled the air as she opened her eyes to a fumy night. She sneezed intermittently, trying hard to bring herself to total consciousness, as all she could see were moving shadows in the shape of large werewolves and humans. She must have fallen unconscious for a long time, as she remembered her last memory of being in the palace. Although, she felt a great weakness from within, she let out a scream at the sight of the creatures before her. “Be quiet!“, one of them shouted, as he continued slashing a dead beast, lying on the wet ground, into pieces and passing it around to the rest of the group, sitte

CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE

Diane's POV(… friendly enemy)“What a surprise huh?“, he remarked lazily, as two others stood below her, setting her legs loose. She couldn't find the words as all she could do was gape at the figure of him, as one having an impossible lucid dream. “No. It can't be. You'll never be a part of this. ”, she stuttered, still horrorstruck. This was a boy she had developed strange feelings for, in the past. This was the boy that acted as the nicest person she could ever come across, before she found Melissa at the party, that seemed to have stolen her chance for love. Regardless, she still felt something for him, but things were beginning to look the opposite. “You're right, Diane, or would you rather I call you, Princess?“, he mocked with a brief laughter, as she heard the sniggerings of those helping her legs out if its fetters. “I'm not a part of this. I am the brain behind this”, he affirmed. Her shock didn't let her realize she'd been set loose until she staggered forwards, almost fal

CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR

Xavier's POV(…flashbacks)It was another day of strenuous chores. He had lived the few years of his young life, a maid, in a house with five initial occupants, himself inclusive . “Where's this good for nothing boy?“, a woman's voice with an annoying pitch, called out. There was no amount of rest he could ever need that'll make him so deep into sleep to the extent of not waking up immediately to the sound of her voice. He had grown to hate her so much, but not as much as she hated him, since the very first day she had a child of her own. “This is where you hid yourself”, she yelled, as though he had other places he could call a room. Xavier had packed up the few pieces of clothes that served as his bed, one he'd managed to own—some old clothes of Mr. Anderson. “Get your lazy self out of here! and go wash the dishes.“, She commanded as she arrived at his supposed room—under the staircase, close to the backdoor. He only enjoyed his space during summer. He had given up his previous room

CHAPTER SIXTY-FIVE

Xavier's POV(…a new friend)“Xavier!”, she yelled again, this time there was no escaping it. He gradually approached the kitchen where she was. “Haven’t I warned you about touching anything in this house?” Before he could say a word, a heavy slap landed on his face. Xavier flinched back in pain, But she continued. “This is the last time you’ll ever—”“Mum”, Bryan interrupted. “It was me. I was hungry last night and I drank it”Rita looked shocked. “Well, next time you talk. Get out of this place”, she ordered Xavier as he gave Bryan a confused look. Bryan winked at him and gestured for him to leave. He was already dressed up for school, wearing a burgundy short and a white shirt. “But you should have told me Ryan. You can have whatever you want. You didn’t have to fill it with water. Go have your breakfast, okay. I made your favorite”, she guided him up a stool as Xavier watched from a distance. “Let me go check on your sister. She’s running late”, she remarked as she turned towards

CHAPTER SIXTY-SIX

Xavier's POV(…Little hero)The two masked men froze instantly only to find out it was just a boy and turned back to the drawers with a loud hiss. “I thought you said the coast was clear?“, One with the blue mask asked. “Does he look like a threat to you? He must be the boy he adopted before he finally had his daughter. I didn't know they could leave him all alone. We'd better hurry up before we get caught”, the second remarked as they searched the files thoroughly.“Hey. I caught you already”, Xavier exclaimed after they discarded his presence. “Leave now or I call the cops on you. I'm pretty good at judo”, Xavier yelled, in a bid to threaten then, but instead, he found them laughing at him. “ Look boy, it's either you Join us in our search or you stay away. We aren't here to hurt anyone. Don't make me squash you to pieces”, the bigger one with a black mask said as he walked around the small room. “But I would hurt you if you don't leave. Mum would kill me if she finds out. Please

CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVEN

Xavier's POV(…a promotion)“That's exactly my problem with you. You'll never listen to me. Always right. What a dogmatic attorney. Keep him all you want. I hope you don't regret it some day. This was a close call. Next time you won't be so lucky”, Rita nagged all along as they arrived from police detention. Xavier went to his corner, under the stairs. He sat on the floor and began to weep. Clement had joined them in the nearest cop's division for that area, earlier in the day. The intruders had been Clement's rivals from work, on a murder case he was in charge of. Xavier received all the accolades for being the hero till Rita joined them. They'd been arguing about his stay in the house ever since they left the station, as Rita accused Xavier of having a hand in it. “I've been keeping my cool about the boy, but you're beginning to over use your privileges, Rita. Do you know he could file a case against you for assault? And don't be surprised if I stand with him. That he doesn't know

CHAPTER SIXTY-EIGHT

Xavier's POV(…a Christmas present)Xavier's life had taken a turn for good, ever since the secret deal with his foster mom. It was another winter season and the holidays had begun. Xavier had celebrated his tenth birthday the previous month and got a restock of his wardrobe from Rita. “Pack up your things everyone and get ready. We are going on a vacation, in two days time” Mr Anderson had announced on Christmas Eve. “Where are we going?“ Isabella asked, after embracing her father as he stepped inside. “We'll find out later, but first let's do some decorations.“ He dropped the bag of ribbons and lights beside the large Christmas tree at the corner of the room. “I was thinking your firm wouldn't be giving a day off for the holidays” Rita remarked as she pecked the side of his cheeks.“The new director is considerate. He gave us a whole week off plus a vacation in Miami. For me, There's no better vacation than spending time with my family.“ Xavier and the two other kids unpacked t

CHAPTER SIXTY-NINE

Xavier's POV (…a monster within) “Where do you think you're going?“ Rita scolded, as Xavier attempted to enter the house, when they arrived from the hospital, late at night. “Get out of here, you murderer!“ Mr. Anderson, who would have defended him, didn't make the slightest headturn towards him as he scrambled into the house like a bruised lion. “You've never belonged here and you never will! Stay away from us. You've done more than enough harm.” She locked him out of the house, after taking possession of the puppy in his hands. Xavier sat in front of the house, as there was no where else to go. The weather had grown stormy. He wrapped his arms around himself, as he tried to produce heat by making hot air from his mouth. He had become ghastly pale from the cold and there was no remedy to his despair. He sobbed bitterly as the death of Bryan pricked his heart. If he'd known things would turn out bad, he would never have tried to help Santa fufil Bryan's third wish. He migrated t

CHAPTER SEVENTY

Xavier’s POV (…a new home) Rita must be going through a tough time and maybe Mr. Anderson had kicked her out of the house for infidelity. Isabella is sure to learn a good lesson, living on the streets. Xavier smiled at the thoughts. It was the best payback he could think of after the amount of ill treatments he’d endured from Rita. They drove in a pickup truck with a plow attached to the front bumper. The roads were still heavily flooded with snow. They finally halted in front of a motel, after a long frosty ride. The sun was hot in the new area, and the snow was beginning to melt. “We’ll be spending a night here. It’s closer to the airport.” Charles remarked. Xavier finally asked, as he had been silent, “Why didn’t you come for me all these while? That place was hell and—”. Charles cut in, “You’ll find out when you get home.” Xavier frowned in confusion as they unpacked from the trunk. He had more questions, but Charles countenance had turned furious since his first question. He rem
