1 : The Beginning

"How do we have nothing?!?! We have been searching for weeks, going over every missing person's file with a fine toothed comb and we still have NOTHING!!" I yelled in frustration. How? How is this even possible?? I exhale loudly. “I am sorry guys. It’s not your fault this is happening. It’s just so fucking frustrating…” I growl and walk over to my office window. Our Alpha, Jericho, is out of town on pack business. I have been looking over the pack and everything has been smooth. But being in charge of this investigation is more stressful than anything I have ever done before. “Tora, it’s not your fault either. You nor Jericho can help that we have pack members going missing. It’s even a miracle that you noticed the pattern when you did. We are a big pack, man. It’s hard to tell who is leaving, or who has just passed away. There isn’t any way to tell that they have been kidnapped or just walked out of the pack.” Our Gamma, Cree, told me. “Cree, we have at the very least 7 pack memb

2 : I Told You

**TORA** Running in Argos gray form is like a breath of fresh air. The wind blowing through his fur I can feel as if it were my back that the wind was hitting. I have been shifting into him since I was sixteen, which is normally when Alpha’s shift. I’ll never forget my first shift. Everyone was in awe when they saw his big fluffy form for the first time.. Apparently, I am a rare gray wolf. Alpha wolves are usually always black, and everyone else is either sandy blonde, brown or white. I just think the genetics just got crossed when I was born. I never got to meet my dad which is a shame, but my mom. That woman is a saint. She has a brown wolf named Akala. And she’s the wisest person I know. So wise that Jericho’s dad had her as his pack advisor since I was a kid. That’s how Jericho and I became best friends. Since we took over, my mom has retired, and gardens.. But Jericho still calls her from time to time for advice. It’s the smart thing to do, the woman knows everything. But

3 : Freedom

**UNKNOWN**Completely and utterly sore. That probably isn’t even the best word for it.My body feels broken. But that’s what happens when you literally work your whole life to make sure you survive in a pack that is supposed to take care of you.I moan slightly at the minor movements I am making to get to the hot bath I ran myself just now. My five foot four inch frame wasn’t made for this. My long brunette hair is matted and in knots on my shoulders, chunks of hair falling out. I can feel the bruising starting on my neck from being held down. My arms have visible finger bruises, so a long sleeve shirt it shall be today.Might even need a turtleneck.I feel one small tear fall from my eyes, I have come accustomed to my life. This isn't the one I wanted. I wanted to wait for my mate. I wanted to feel that unconditional love and adoration that came with a mate. But one thing I have been taught my whole life is I will never get what I want. And what I do get is what I deserve.I sweep a

4 : Meeting

**TORA** “Yes, Alpha. I know. But this is important. I don’t want to have to give you this kind of news over the phone. But if you are insisting… It’s Julri. We just found his body close to the border..” I say to Jericho through the phone. He is livid and upset. As he should be. Not only is this his pack member, he liked this kid. When I started bringing Julri around he got attached to him. He just had this face and personality that everyone loved. “How many is that now?” Jericho says through gritted teeth. “This makes 7 pack members missing and one deceased.” I sit silently as I wait for his response. “I’ll be one by dinner. I want all the evidence in my conference room. I also want you to call neighboring Alpha’s and see if they have had anything similar happening to them. Set up meetings with them all. Either in our pack or in theirs. We will get this resolved.” He waits a second. “I am sorry, Tora. We all loved Julri but I know he was like a little brother to you. We will ge

5 : Escape Plan

**ESTELLE**Word is spreading fast about what the neighboring packs are having problems with missing pack members. I hate that their families are going through the pain of a loved one disappearing. And I know it is a horrible thing they are going through, but the only person that would miss me if I went missing is my Alpha. And that’s because I am his toy.But being the Alpha’s maid, I hear a lot. Luckily, the phone call to the Alpha made him quit his toying with me. And as soon as he left my side I cleaned myself. No one can know what the Alpha does. NO ONE. And I want NO ONE to smell him on me. Once the call was over he found me again, he gave me new orders. And I don’t know who was on the other end of that line but I’ll forever be thankful. Even though he might pick up where he left off later, at least for now I am safe. We have the Silver Shadow Pack coming tomorrow, and our packhouse has to be in tip top shape, or my punishment will be horrid. No picture can be crooked, no chai

6: What the Hell?

**TORA**Sitting in Jericho's office, wearing the same outfit I had on earlier, just now realizing how much I stink. Waiting on him to go over the evidence we have, which isn't much. I still haven't informed my mother of the news but I have also told the whole pack through link, excluding her, that no one is to tell her but me. It's going to be as if she is losing a son, and if I don't have a handle on it before I tell her, she will be at the front lines trying to figure it out herself. "Tora?" I hear Jericho's voice ring through my ears, when I look at him I see his brow furrowed. "Sorry man. Just trying to wrap my brain around how I will tell my mother. What were you saying?" I asked rubbing my face exhaustingly. Trying to focus myself."I told you I'll help you tell her. But I was saying between you and Cree calling all of the packs surrounding us, it looks like only ONE Alpha can't make the trip. Did Alastar say why?" I shake my head no. "Just that he couldn't but would be able

7: Peach Cobbler

**TORA** The closer I get to this pack, the more anxious I feel. A sense of urgency and need to be there right this second washes through me. But something else, those damn eyes.. That creature. 10 feet tall. Easily. looked a little thin, but still huge. Red glowing eyes, almost soft. Eyes like that could burn down the world, yet it looked like they were scared. What has a creature that huge, scared.. Pulling into the driveway of the pack house, Jericho pulls me from my thoughts. "I'll do most of the talking. Cree keep your sarcastic comments to yourself. And Tora.. Try not to lose your shit today. Okay? We have to vigilant to catch whoever is doing this to our pack. And we can't do that if Cree is pissing of the leaders, and you are trying to challenge everyone because you're frustrated. Got it?" He said with a half assed smile. I rolled my eyes and me and Cree, in unison, said, "Yes Alpha." with so much groan in both of our voices. Causing us to laugh altogether. But right befor

8: Never Enough

**ESTELLE**Bruises that won't heal. A head wound that is hidden in my thick hair. A fresh stab wound on my back that is still on fire.. I am pretty sure my ribs are broken. But I have no choice but to put on a small, fake smile for a visiting pack. I am drained, physically and emotionally. The wound in my head isn't bleeding anymore, but it's throbbing. The wound on my back is still leaking but only slightly. I am keeping it covered with a bandage in case it leaks through. I have to make sure no one ever sees my scars or bruises. Ever.'It's happening.' Darra purrs and then retreats into my mind. I get the call that I need to deliver the drinks to the wretched Alpha in the meeting with his guests. Once these drinks are on the table and I leave the room, I am running as fast as I possibly can to the borders and I am leaving.. I can't take it anymore. I can't do this anymore. If one more bad thing happens, I'll kill myself.. Before Alastar ever has the chance to, I will do it mysel

9: A Promise

**TORA**Watching that bastard touch her, kiss her, even holding her hand was driving me crazy.Argos almost got out and killed him right where he was standing. But I had to hold my stance. The only way to figure this out without alerting the Alpha of my intentions was by telling Jericho she was my mate, and that I needed to speak with her without sending off warning bells to the Alpha.. And luckily it worked. Watching how her face fell when she realized who I was to her but didn't go to her. Watching her eyes light up seeing me, but then shut when she thought I didn't want her killed me. Watching her cower as soon as I ran to her, seeing her fall to her knees in fear that I would somehow attack her, broke my heart into a million pieces and made me wonder what could have happened to her to make her be that afraid. I saw how she clenched her eyes shut when Alastar kissed her cheek. It hurts me to think that someone has hurt her, but I don't think it would be the Alpha. At least I hop

10: I knew it.

**ESTELLE**Walking from that room has to be the hardest thing I think I ever could have done. 'And the dumbest. We should just leave now and show up at his pack. That way nothing else happens to us.' Darra says with a whimper.'We can't just show up. I don't want to anger him. He said if anything happens to me, THEN we come to his pack. He said it is dangerous and that is something I should trust.' She sighs and lays down in my mind. Leaving me to my thoughts as I make it to my room in the basement. Hoping to not have to see him as he drives away from this pack, leaving me here.. I start stuffing just a few torn pieces of clothing into a bag to hide under my floorboards when I hear my door open and I quickly discard what I am doing. The creaking from the floorboards on the steps that lead to my room is getting louder and much heavier as they grow near. I know who it is. I don't want to face him right now. He will smell my mate on me. Oh my gods, my mate. I didn't even get his nam
