Chapter 41

Elijah pulled me off his shoulder and threw me onto our bed. He kneeled on the bed beside me and leaned over kissing me softly on my lips before telling me to stay still using his seductive, husky voice. His voice alone was enough to send tingles all the way down my spine. I loved it when he took charge like this but there was something inside me that couldn’t resist challenging him and pushing him to be even more dominant.“What would you do if I didn’t?” I asked. A small growl rumbled through his chest as he moved so he was even closer to me. He laid so his body was hovering over mine while he kissed his way along my jaw and neck, interspersing the kisses with soft nibbles with his teeth. My desire for him was increasing rapidly. I wrapped my arms around his body trying to pull him closer. I needed him desperately, I needed to feel the friction of his body against mine. “You are already in trouble for letting yourself get in the middle of that fight today. It probably isn’t a good

Chapter 42

Training was tough. Now that Elijah knew that I was an alpha he was eager to test my fighting skills. On the walk over here I had hoped that I would get to take things a little easy. Maybe spend the session kicking Felix’s ass repeatedly but apparently I was out of luck. Elijah was a much stronger fighter than his brother, I was still stronger than he was but only by a small margin. In terms of raw strength, Elijah and I were pretty evenly matched but I was faster than him so that gave me a slight edge. After a few minutes of sparing the rest of the pack weren’t even trying to fight anymore, they were too busy watching us. I felt a little guilty for Kicking Elijah’s ass in front of part of his own pack. Not guilty enough to pull my punches though. I was born to be an alpha, both me and my wolf hated to lose. Elijah and I circled each other, looking for an opening in each other's defences. My wolf was getting impatient, she thought we could take Elijah down easily and she just wanted

Chapter 43

“Diana,” Someone shouted. My head was fuzzy, I wasn't sure how long I had been asleep but I knew it wasn’t long enough. Mumbling under my breath, I turned away from the noise that was trying to pull me out of my sleep. A few more minutes, or hours, that was what I needed right now. “Diana, my darling,” they said. Fingers caressed my cheek, brushing my hair away from my face but there were no tingles. Whoever was touching me wasn’t my mate. My eyes shot open as I pushed myself away from the unknown person who was stroking my face. Fear gripped my body as I opened my eyes and realised that I was back in the same room from my nightmare the other night. Arthur was sitting on the bed beside me with a sickening grin on his face. Pushing with my arms and my legs, I tried to get as far away from him as I could. Once I put a little bit of distance between the two of us, I turned to jump out of the bed. That was when he grabbed my arm and pulled me back. “I brought you here so we could talk

Chapter 44

The light was starting to fade around me but I wanted to get a few minutes more research in before dinner was ready. I had already been here for hours, so long that my muscles were starting to go numb. Elijah thought my enthusiasm for research was great at first but I think he was starting to get sick of it. had already fallen asleep at his desk. He was snoring softly with his head resting on his arm.I felt a little guilty for making him work so hard but I needed to find a way to block Arthur out of my dreams. For the first couple of days after my most recent dream I was hopeful for an easy solution but now my optimism was wavering. I had found nothing of use in these books so far. There was so much information in these books. That wasn’t the problem, the problem was finding that information. There didn’t seem to be any kind of key or system behind what each book contained. So far I had skimmed through one book on the history of my subspecies of werewolf, one diary and a book about u

Chapter 45

Saturday was meant to be a day off and that was exactly what I had planned to do today. That was until Mark woke Elijah and I up at 7am to tell us that there was an emergency in the pack. Apparently one of the women I went to school with had been blessed with two mates. Although it was actually turning into more of a curse because her mates were rivals.Last night there had been some kind of altercation and Mark needed Elijah’s help to get the girl's mates to come to some kind of agreement. He thought that he was going to be gone for most of the day so I made myself a coffee and a bagel and took them into the office. There were still so many books for me to get through, maybe I should be grateful for the extra time.‘You keep telling yourself that, maybe you might even be able to convince yourself but you won’t fool me.’ Onyx said, laughing at me. That was because she knew how much I had been looking forward to today. Elijah was meant to be taking me out on a date and we were meant t

“What does that mean? I thought she was dead.” Ryker said, rushing over to my side. I couldn’t answer his questions, I couldn’t think clearly let alone speak. My mom was alive, she was probably being held hostage by Arthur. I don’t know why he was keeping her alive but knowing him, it couldn’t be anything good. “Where is she, why hasn’t she contacted you?” Felix asked. Why did they keep asking me questions, couldn’t they leave me alone to think? “She is near where Arthur is, I think he is holding her captive.” The more that I thought about the situation, the more it worried me. I was concerned that Arthur had never told me that he had my mom. He wanted me to be with him and he could have used my mom as leverage to get what he wanted. The fact that he hadn’t done so, made me worry that he had hurt her in some way. Onyx growled in my head, she wanted to kill Arthur already. This was just fueling her hatred even more. She was determined that we would be the ones to rip him to pieces

Chapter 47

Elijah has been keeping me busy for the last couple of days, trying to distract me, I guess. It made for a fun weekend but I was paying for it now. I was tired and I didn’t have any time this weekend to think about my problem. Today I was at school and I would have plenty of time to formulate a plan. I was approaching the end of school now and there wasn’t much for me to do. I had finished all my assignments and had learnt the syllabus so my days at school were pretty empty. That left me free to spend most of the morning in the library doing research and making plans. Using the information I had gathered from my connection to my mom, I had managed to narrow down her location. I couldn’t be sure but to me it felt as though the connection was originating from somewhere close to my old pack, probably no more than twenty kilometres away. When I looked at maps of that region there was a small village in about the right location. I wanted to check it out but I knew it was going to be dif

Elijah’s first reaction was to hold me as though he was terrified of losing me. It took him a few minutes for the shock of the situation to wear off and him to start reacting more normally. He picked me up and carried me over to his desk where he placed me on his lap, gripping my hips tightly. I could tell from the look on his face that he was already deep in thought, trying to work out what had happened. I nibbled on my lower lip anxiously, this was a conversation that I really didn’t want to have. “Arthur took control of my body didn’t he?” He asked after a few seconds. I nodded my head in agreement. I wasn’t sure what else to say, I didn’t want to tell him what I had agreed to. I knew how much it would hurt him to know what my plans were but I didn’t really want to lie to him either. I felt like Arthur had taken all my choices away and I was sick of it. I couldn’t wait until I had the strength to end his miserable existence. “What did he want from you this time?” He asked. “

Chapter 49

The first vampire arrived shortly before the sun came up and since then they have been arriving slowly throughout the day. Their presence had forced the omegas and even some of the warriors to avoid the house completely. Even though werewolves and vampires weren’t enemies, they didn’t exactly get along either. Instead they tended to avoid contact with one another, with the werewolves keeping to their packs in small towns while the vampires kept to larger cities. Most werewolves could go their entire life never having seen a vampire in real life. The vampires themselves were an interesting group. Some of them looked like normal office workers but others among them looked as though they were frozen in time at various decades in history. It made me wonder if they dressed like this normally or if they were only doing it to show off how old they were. I couldn’t see how some of them could possibly get away with dressing in such a way in everyday life. “Is there anything that I need to r

Chapter 50

We stayed up for most of the night discussing tactics with the vampires. They thought that our plan was terrible but as they couldn’t come up with anything better, even after hours and hours of discussion, I didn’t feel too bad. I had a feeling that they were only complaining about our plan in order to make us feel inferior to them. That after all seemed to be their favourite hobby. The only one who didn’t insult our plan was Jayne. She hadn’t said much since she realised her mistake in dealing with Ryker. She was probably regretting her choices but I was glad things turned out the way they did. Ryker deserved someone who would love him for who he was, not what he could give them. As Jayne was the one who initiated the rejection, Ryker would be given a second chance. Perhaps this one would be worthy of him.It was almost 2am by the time that we got everyone to finally agree to our plan. I was completely exhausted, so exhausted that when I woke up the next morning I couldn’t remember
