Chapter 31

Ava and I told Elijah’s mom all about ourselves as we got changed into our party dresses and applied each other's makeup. We spoke about our hobbies and our preferences for music and films among many other things.Ava looked great, she was wearing a knee length black dress that hugged her curves perfectly. I had helped her pick out that dress myself on one of our shopping trips but I had never expected that she would be wearing it to impress Felix. Elijah’s mom had picked out my dress. It was a long flowy dress with a wide neckline designed to display Elijah’s mark for the whole pack to see. It was also in the pack colours of Teal with a grey sash at my waist. It wasn’t my favourite colour but Elijah’s mom thought that having both me and Elijah wearing the pack colours would send a strong message. I had a feeling that this had a lot to do with the Fuller pack’s presence tonight but I wasn’t complaining. I was looking forward to standing by Elijah’s side tonight as his luna. Even tho

Mark’s mate glanced over towards him then quickly averted his gaze towards the floor in front of him. He was walking a few paces behind the Fuller pack’s alpha and luna. The way he walked so he was with them without actually being with them made it clear that he was one of their omegas. He was wearing a simple light shirt and dark trousers, designed to make him fade into the background. They were all heading in our direction, they seemed unperturbed by Mark’s presence but it could have been an act. They kept their eyes focused on Elijah as they walked towards us, only glancing briefly over towards me once. I guess that was an indication of how this conversation was going to go. “This is a nice party,” Alpha Fuller indicated towards the house. ‘It was perfect until they showed up,’ Onyx complained. “Thank-you. I am glad you could make it,” Elijah said. His voice was stiff and emotionless. I have never heard him speak like this before and I didn’t like it one bit. I was so use

We left Mark alone so that he could get to know his mate a little better but we didn’t get very far. Everyone in the pack was here and it seemed as though all of them wanted to talk to us. It seemed as though we couldn’t move more than a few steps at a time without someone calling us over.Elijah was so much better at this than I was. I didn’t like this much attention being directed at me and I wanted to get out of the conversations as soon as possible. Elijah however was a master of small talk and he seemed to know about the lives of everyone in his pack. He asked them questions and made them feel like he truly cared about every single one of them. After a few conversations I forgot about my own discomfort and just paid attention to Elijah. I loved listening to him. The way he spoke made me want to be a better luna for him and our pack. It would take me a long time to get used to being around so many people and even longer to learn all their names but I wanted to do it for him. ‘I t

Chapter 34

I opened my eyes and looked around. This wasn’t my room, in fact it didn’t look like it was even part of the house. The decoration was completely different. Instead of the pack colours of teal and grey everything in the room was decorated in burgundy with gold accents and looked as though it was over a hundred years old. My head was pounding as I sat up in bed. The more I tried to focus on my surroundings and work out where I was the more my head hurt. I had no idea what was going on, I had a few drinks last night but not enough to explain this headache and how did I even get here? “Don’t panic sweetheart, it can be a little disorientating the first time.” I looked over to where the voice was coming from to see Arthur standing beside the bed. My heart started beating faster as the adrenaline flooded my system. I pulled the covers up to my neck to put a barrier between the two of us. “What the fuck is going on? Where am I? Why am I here? Where is Elijah?” I screamed. A smile came

I laid on Elijah’s chest listening to the sound of him breathing and his steady heart beat for the next few hours. Even though I told him that meeting Arthur was just a nightmare I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to it than that. Part of me was scared that if I closed my eyes I would find myself right back there in that horrendous bed with him. I watched as the room became lighter over the next couple of hours and the house slowly started to wake up around us. I could hear people moving around and I could even smell breakfast being prepared in the kitchen. I tried to wriggle my way out of Elijah’s arms but he gripped me tighter and started to growl slightly. “You’re not going anywhere.” He growled seductively, sending chills of excitement through my whole body. He pulled me on top of him, I could feel his erection pressing against me. He ran his fingers through my hair and pressed his lips against mine. After a few seconds I pulled away, breathless. As much as I wan

Chapter 36

Once we finished breakfast Elijah and I went upstairs to our office. Elijah had work he needed to catch up on for the pack and I needed to start looking through the books that we found. It wasn’t exactly the most exciting way to start the weekend but being luna wasn’t all about parties and socialising. Elijah liked having me close when he was working so I sat beside him at his desk as I looked through one of the books that we found. Elijah kept at least one hand on me at all times. He didn’t seem to care how slow or awkward it made things for him, he just wanted to have me in his arms. I wasn’t going to object, having him this close to me chased away my worries over the dream I had last night. Every so often he would lean over and kiss my cheek or my hair then go back to work. I couldn’t imagine that he was getting much done but I was enjoying being here with him. I wish I could say the same about the book. The book that I had selected seemed to give detailed family trees for a bun

Chapter 37

Elijah was still kissing me when he received a mindlink from his brother to let us know that Helen had crossed our border with some omegas from her pack. Glancing at my watch I noticed that she was almost two hours early. Either this woman was really eager to meet Ryker or she was trying to catch us unprepared. I really don’t like her.We quickly made ourselves look presentable and made our way downstairs to meet her entourage. They hadn’t arrived by the time we got downstairs but Ryker was waiting near the door between Felix and his parents. Judging by the way they were standing so close to him I think they were expecting him to try running away. Or maybe he already had, he did seem to be acting rather sheepish. Elijah stood beside his parents. He circled his arms around my waist, pulling me close to his body and kissing my cheek. I could sense his desire to demonstrate our love for each other in front of Helen. I was still trying to block out Elijah’s thoughts and I couldn’t hear t

Chapter 38

I have never been so happy to see a Monday morning before but after two days of dealing with Helen I couldn’t be happier. Ryker hadn’t come back to the house for more than a few minutes since Helen had shown up so she expected the rest of us to entertain her. Last night she even started knocking on the door to mine and Elijah’s room in the middle of the night. The only positive thing about her constant interruptions was that I didn’t sleep heavily enough to have that horrible nightmare again. I was grateful for that even if that was only because I didn’t get a proper night's sleep for the last two nights. I let out a long sigh as I got dressed for the day ahead. I would much rather be spending the day with Elijah but Helen had ruined that plan too. Elijah didn’t want to be stuck in the same house as Helen for another moment so he was going to spend the days visiting his business interests around the pack. I was sure that I would be able to persuade him to let me come with him. I have

Chapter 39

I felt uncomfortable being back at school after what had happened last time I was here. I spent the whole morning worrying that Arthur was going to spring out from around every corner. Knowing that there was someone as powerful as him made me feel more vulnerable than I had ever felt before, even in all my years on the run as a child. I needed to find some way of making my powers stronger but that was easier said than done. I had no idea how my powers worked so I had to rely on the books my mom left for me and those books were not easy to get through. There was so much information in them and a lot of it didn’t help me right now. What I really needed was some help with my research, that way I could get through the books much faster. “Why do you look so miserable?” Charlotte asked me as she walked up behind me. “I had a terrible weekend,” I replied. I was on my way to the canteen for lunch but socialising was the last thing on my mind. I just wanted to get this day over with so tha

Chapter 40

By the time Elijah arrived a few moments later everything was already returning to normal. Elijah ran into the room followed by his beta and a couple of his warriors. Maybe I should have been a little clearer over mindlink. He must have thought that a war had broken out to bring this many fighters. He still looked delicious in his suit but now his tie and jacket were a little dishevelled. He paused briefly as his eyes combed over the canteen until they landed on me. He ran over to me, picking me up and spun me around while showering me with kisses. Despite how serious our situation was I couldn’t hold back my giggles.“I was so worried about you. I know you are strong but the thought of you getting in a fight without me there to protect you tears me up inside.” He whispered in my ear, his breath against my neck.“I promise I was never in any danger but I am worried that Helen might never forgive us.” I replied, trying to distract myself from my own increasing arousal. I don’t know wh
