Chapter 11 – Falling

LAMIA Kellen met me by the dining room entrance. I rounded the corner to find him propped up against the wall, legs and arms crossed and his head cast down. I felt his nerves pour out of him in waves. “Hey,” I called out to him as I approached. I took a deep breath as I stood before him, summoning the courage I needed at that moment. He lifted his head, his ocean blue eyes meeting mine “Hey, Lamia –“ he began. I lifted my hand and pressed my index finger to his lips. He was nervous, ambivalence clearly reflected in his eyes. I leaned in and pressed my lips to his, whispering “shh”. My tongue traced his bottom lip asking for entrance and he gave it to me. His moist and warm tongue swept across mine in a caressing movement. I leaned my body onto his and pressed him against the wall, his arms circling my waist, bringing us impossibly close. Yes, I wanted to explore this side of the connection between us. Before the kiss could progress and we would get lost with each other, I pulled

Chapter 12 – For Mike

MIKE ‘Fuck! That was a blow to my ego’ My thoughts were stuck on Kellen’s revelation of Lamia having a mark, a mark of the fucking crown of all things! I knew now I would most certainly not be her mate, nor would I pursue her in any way shape, or form. Why hadn’t I noticed the birthmark before? Had she covered it up? I mean I didn’t expect her to say, Oh look, here it is! But I would have at least thought I would come to know about it. Either she was destined to Kel or she was born to be a Queen in her own right. I now had a better understanding of why she and her wolf were so powerful, and why she got that wolf. I also have a better idea of why our parents, especially the King, had her live with them, train with them and then send her to this school with us. So much makes sense now. Even though I was feeling a little disappointed by the fact that she would never be mine, I smiled to myself. Fucking Lamia. I told her she was my Queen. I guess I wasn’t lying. No matter what, I knew

Chapter 13 – A New Experience

KELLEN Lamia and Kira had worked hard all day to make this as special as possible. Knowing Mike's parents would be throwing him a party as soon as we got back home to celebrate, I was sure it wouldn’t be as fun as this. Instead, it would be the higher-ups and a few neighboring packs, much more formal than this. So, I was happy we could do this for him. Lamia had been so busy all day organizing this, that we hadn’t had time to ourselves. I watched as Mike was sandwiched between two girls on the dance floor, lapping it up, he was bound to take one or maybe both back to our room tonight. He was ever the player and I chuckled to myself at the thought. I, on the other hand, only had eyes for one girl and at the moment, she was living it up on the dance floor with Kira and another she-wolf, singing their hearts out to some Taylor swift song. If it was up to Lamia, she would rather have some rock or metal played right now, but, she wanted it to be fun for everyone. A slow song came on and

Chapter 14 – Good Bye Academy

LAMIA I had texted Kira to come to my room so we could go to breakfast together. I was just finishing putting on some beige lip gloss; I had thrown on a pair of black jeggings and a comfortable deep plum v-neck tee shirt that hung down to the tops of my legs with a pair of sneakers. I wanted to be comfortable when driving home, plus I had spent a lot more time in the shower than I intended, the warm water soothed the ache between my legs, but every time I thought about why it ached, a different type of ache would take effect, not a bruised feeling but one of arousal. An ache that was desperate to feel Kellen, on me and inside me again. I felt the pull. I’ve been feeling the pull for a while now, and it’s only been getting stronger. The tingles I felt from his touch ignited a fire in my belly, heating me to the core with want and desire. Albeit, they are not as strong as fated mates, we wouldn’t be eighteen for another four months but the sparks were definitely there last night. Then

Chapter 15 – Going Home

LAMIA Mike and I made it downstairs to the front steps of the academy with my bags and one box. There were three stretch SUVs parked outside and Kellen’s truck, there were 10 Royal guards standing around the cars as we made our way over. Kira, Greg, Sam, and Travis were outside waiting to say goodbye already. Mike had just finished loading my stuff into the back of the truck when Kellen came out the front doors accompanied by Wilson, Hunji (who would be coming with us), and the Royal Beta. “Uncle Mike!” I happily squeaked, running over to him and leaping into his arms. Mike was the spitting image of his father, not just the same eye color, hair, and height, but also the sheer mass and stockiness of them. He wrapped me in his arms and squeezed me tight. “Princess, I hope you have kept the boys in line?” He joked, lifting me up and twirling me. Even though I was tall and stood at 5 foot 10, and could easily kick his ass, he still thought of me as this little girl and treated me as su

Chapter 16 - Scared

VIVIAN (Lamia's Mother) Tears stung my eyes as I held my little girl's hand. She looked so weak and fragile lying in the hospital bed. The color had drained from her, her olive skin now a pale grey. The doctors said she would be fine and heal. She just needed to recover and rest. Her right arm was wrapped and bandaged and had now started to heal, but slowly. Her leg was still seeping from the wounds and had to be stitched. I asked why it was taking so long to heal. They told me, because of how weak she is from using all her energy and the bone in her thigh had become infected from the claw that had been lodged there during her fight, the bear shifter had laced his own claws with silver and even though they managed to pull the claw out, it’s tip had broken off and had been lodged in her bone. They couldn’t see it until they did an x-ray. So it would take longer to heal, hence stitching her to help the process. A whimper left my lips and more tears were shed. We were all in her hospit

Chapter 17 – Hunji's Hunch

KING ALEXANDER Lamia was still unconscious and the stress of her injury and weakness was affecting everyone. I loved that girl deeply, as much as my own child, and would give anything for her, as would my son. A sense of pride washed through me when I was told how she took out a bear shifter single-handedly and in human form! We were astounded. Albeit, it was a traumatic experience, not just for her but for those who witnessed it, and it was not without consequences. I was surprised Marcus hadn’t choked my son out yet. I couldn’t blame him if he wanted to beat the shit out of him. Marcus had just found out my son and his daughter had been sleeping with each other. Not only are they both still 17, but that was his little girl. I was mad at my own son. I would certainly be having words with him. For fuck's sake, he crossed a line, and, hopefully, it all works out on their birthdays, then all would be forgiven. We also found out last night that Lamia had ‘accidentally’ been given an ov

Chapter 18 - Running

LAMIA It was a week later and we had all settled into school and classes. I had moved back in with my parents, who had moved back into the palace at some point when we were at the academy. They knew about mine and Kellen’s now ‘romantic’ relationship. I guess they thought they would have better control over our extended activities; However, Kellen ended up sleeping in my bed every night anyway. On my first night back in my room, the nightmares had begun. I had woken up in a cold sweat screaming for Mike. The same shrill voice I used when the bear had attacked him. The glaring red eyes plagued my dreams and consumed me with terror. The feel of his claws digging in was so vivid, bringing back the pain. When my father came in to comfort me, I lashed out in a fit of terror and clawed at him. I guess I had woken up the whole palace with my screams and didn’t calm down until Kellen’s arms held me down in a tight embrace, soothing the shaking fear. After the second night and only Kel bein

Chapter 19 – Realization

LAMIA I woke up early at 5 am to a cold bed, sensing Kellen was not in my room. This was strange, as he was not an early riser. Heading for the shower, I sent him a quick mind link. *Hey, where did you sneak off to?* *We had a rogue issue again. We got called out at 3 am, heading back now. I didn’t want to wake you, babe. I will see you at lunch at school* *OK, fill me in then. I have early training with Hunji* I closed the link and stepped in, letting the warmth of the water soothe me. Rogues again, I thought. They have seemed to be persistent at our borders lately. But why wouldn’t they wake me to come and help? Everyone knew I was the fastest and strongest wolf in the royal pack. It irked me a little, maybe more than a little. I felt like I was getting pushed further and further from being involved in pack business. OK, I may not be Kellen’s choice for Delta. I got over that, but still, I felt like I was being shoved to the sidelines more and more and it didn’t sit well with m

Chapter 20 – Enemies and a New Friend

UNKNOWN POV One year I have been here, and one year I have been subjected to bullying. The taunts, the kicks, the shoves, but hey what’s new, this is how it has always been. No matter what school I was in, no matter what pack. But this school was by far the worst. Most days it wasn’t so bad, just little comments here and there, or books being knocked out of my hands. Those days I could handle. Other days, like yesterday, when I was dumped head-first into the toilet and repeatedly flushed, were the worst. Or the days they catch me and throw food or drinks at me. How much more could I be humiliated? They treated me worse than humans. I had literally been 'thrown to the wolves'. How ironic, considering my father is a wolf. My father is a werewolf and my mother was a cat shifter or were-cat I guess you could say. They had met when they were both traveling and exploring the realm. A chance happening. Discovering they were mates. It was rare you would find two different shifter races fat
