The Hunt is On

Helena could feel the excitement raise among the wolves with her. This always happened when they anticipated a hunt. This was no different. She didn’t need to worry about them getting carried away with this hunt. She knew her people were too well disciplined to do anything stupid. They wanted her captured, not dead or missing. They also needed desecration in this situation, this close to roads in a different pack’s territory.         “Bethany, you’re on to something here. Keep looking, I know it. Right now, let’s see if we can get the guilty party here and now.” Bethany couldn’t help but admire Helena and being able to keep her mind on this job while her loved ones dealt with other things at home. She wasn’t sure if she could do that herself. If Alfred was in a crisis like this, she’d be moving heaven and earth to fix it. “Natha

That Clinches It

“Okay, Chris, howl if this hurts. We’re testing to how this bond between both of you works. Last thing we need to do is move the curse back and forth between you.” He cast something over a candle and an iron pot that something was burning in. Once the incantation was over, both Brian and Chris were on the ground writhing in pain. “Oh, dear. That’s what I feared. Give me a moment and it will be over with.” Another series of words and Brian felt the pain recede, a moment late and Chris calmed as well. “I am sorry. There’s some kind of bond between you and your very life forces are connected. Now, I can see why they gave you this book as a warning. But it’s incomplete in what is truly going on. It’s like you are truly the Gemini brothers. Well, I would assume Gemini brothers is what we witches call it. But you also share a magical connection that allows you to draw energy and li

Finding Friends Among Survivors

Asia marvelled at how little she knew of the pack as a who and as an individual. No one found the time to talk about their past or just relax and enjoy the company of pack mates. Everyone was too busy trying to keep their heads from being ripped off for another day.         Now she sat with many of the pack, and they were discussing what they individually needed from the pack and as a pack what they would need. It was still a basic thing needed to live. They’d not faced what they’d need in the future yet. No one was that far along.         Asia absorbed the information. From wanting running water to warm dens above ground again. Everyone agreed, the random tunnels of before were a miserable failure as a den. She’d found out that Clarence was trying to bring his wolf shifters closer to the ways of wild wolves lived. He beli

It’s All in the Bag

Bethany watched the wolves leave the cabin, eager to get on with the hunt. There were enough witches out there that they could defend against anything Veronica could dish out. As she looked at the bag, she now realized that she remembered it, but she didn’t realize there was over one. Now she opened it and inspected what was inside it.         The bag was enormous and extremely heavy. The reason for that was the sheer number of things crammed into it. An amazing array of spell ingredients, stones, candles, and equipment was in the bag. Everything Veronica would need to cast one of several spells from the grimoire they’d found.         She quickly replaced everything as best she could back into the bag along with the book, and she couldn’t help but wonder what was in the other bag Veronica took with her. Assuming she took o

The Horror of a Plan Going Awry

Valorie drove down the Main Street of the town since the motel she chose was on the outskirts of the town on the other side. It was perfect since it was well away from the territories of the beasts. She still couldn’t understand how she’d been fathered by such a creature. How her mother sullied herself with him. Or how she, herself, could think she’d be happy with one. Clarence wallowed in his animal nature and revelled in his more violent side. Now, after years of being the one made to feel like she was less than. Her abusers would know the fear of being unable to fight back. The witches who tried to restrict her talent were first. It prepared none of them for what she’d unleashed on them. When it was finished wreaking havoc on the coven, it would go on to the wolves. Hunting them wherever they try to hide. They didn’t deserve to hide in the shadows anymore. Also, if the humans were busy discovering the animals hiding among them, they’d notice nothing she w

Arrivals and Spells

Brian couldn’t believe he’d willingly gone along with this. What would happen to the pack or Helena if Alfred failed to do this? If it left them in the same state Chris was in now. They’d have wasted their lives and the witch will have won. “I’m reconsidering this. Are you sure this is the only way? What if something goes wrong with the ritual? If one spell goes wrong and you can’t get us back to the way, we should be.” “That’s fear of the unknown talking and right now you don’t know how skilled I am. This is my life and I’ve been doing it for a long time. If I didn’t believe it could be done, I wouldn’t attempt it until I knew for a fact it could be. These are simple spells, really. What makes them complicated is the fact that your brother and you have such an unusual bond. That bond only complicated how and who the spells must be removed from. What we’re doing first is a transfer of an existing spell so that both sides of the coin are equally tarnish. Once

Mounting Evidence

Bethany couldn’t believe the amount of things Veronica abandoned. The woman didn’t understand how precious some of these things were. It didn’t matter if they were items a bog witch would use. They still deserved respect, which they didn’t appear to get from Veronica. Her people did their best to box things up respectfully. They needed to hurry, though. The wolves lost Veronica and there was a Golem to thwart, too. She was glad for the wolves to help in hauling the things out. Abandoning true magical items like this was a tragedy waiting to happen. No, it would be taken care of. Either they would find new homes for the items, they’d store other things for safekeeping, and finally safely disposing of the rest. They would have their hands full for a while with this job. Like most witches, Veronica was a collector. Or hoarder, as some would call them. One never knew when something would come in useful and often one item possessed many uses. “Alright. T

Making Progress

Chris finally found himself back in his human form. It should have made him feel like he was in control again. But it didn’t. He wasn’t feeling calm or relaxed. Brian may have stood there and tried to explain everything to him while he was in his fur. Helena may have told him she loved and missed them. He couldn’t find the control and calm he should have. Chris was angry because he couldn’t be the one that stopped the Veronica. The witch took his control away even without trying. Now all he could see was the damage the curse did to those around him. It took their attention off the greater situation, and he felt guilty about that. Chris knew it wasn’t his fault. He didn’t knowingly got cursed, but the injustice was too much for him. “Can we get on with this? And can someone get me some pants? It’s cold down here.” Chris tried not to shiver standing there in the cell.Alfred looked about outside of the cell for a moment, a little confused. Dealing with shifter

The Chosen Alpha

Asia was still trying to find a logical plan of where to rebuild the pack without looking like she was walking in and taking over. After all, someone needed to track the work effort and all that. It would be difficult until they could actually build a stable location to work as a hub for the direction of all the efforts. What they needed right now was some kind of assurance that the witch would not return and continue destroying the lives of the Blue Mountain Pack. She could feel how everyone walked about on eggshells because they were nervous and feared the witch’s return. No one here trusted any of the witches. It would take a long time for them to regain any trust. Though she was happy to see the small pups were spreading out finally and play close to the tents. They needed something more stable than tents. Half of their pack was still in the medical centre. She’d encouraged a small group to go to the medical centre and visit their people. She wanted them

Ritual’s End

The three finally came up from the cells to find several people waiting for them on the other side of the door. Alfred watched several more of his people go down into the cells to help speed up the cleanup. Normally, he would supervise the cleanup to ensure that everything was done perfectly. The last thing he needed or wanted was something coming back to bite them on the backside. Things can get dicey when removing spells that aren’t your own. But he’d cast a spell that didn’t exactly remove the spell. While it removed the spell, the spell didn’t just disappear. This spell was basically marked return to sender. Then, when he purified the three wolves, it severed the ties between the spell and the wolves. He watched the two wolves now lavish attention on the pack’s Luna. It seemed odd to him, but who was he to say it was wrong? If it worked for them and no one got hurt by it. They appeared happy and, to him, that’s what mattered. “I’m sorry to interrupt, but
