Chapter fifty-nine

Axel’s povI suddenly felt a strong feeling of fear through our bond. “Amber what happened?” I asked. “It’s bad Axel. It’s a massacre. There are so many people dead. Even kids. I have to find out what happened. I will contact you soon.” Amber said through the link. I got really nervous, what the hell happened there?! And were the people that did this still in the area? Would Amber be safe? I tried to distract myself, I had been tracking a coven of witches in our area for a while now. They didn’t seem like a threat, but I had thought the same thing about Jade. I honestly didn’t know what the right way to approach them was. Should I attack first or try to arrange a meeting between us. Usually I would ask Amber or Gamma Omar for advice, but they were both busy. Luckily my Beta Logan was around, but he had a strong opinion on witches. Which clouded his judgement a bit. “Kill them all,” Logan said. Yeah that wasn’t much help. If I killed a bunch of witches, I could start a war between

Amber’s pov I woke up in a dungeon, it was dark and it smelled like blood and herbs. My eyes were still heavy send and my head was throbbing. All I remember is finding Charlotte and taking Charlotte to her pack, when I felt something hit me in the back of the head. I could see two other figures in the cells next to me. This wasn’t like the cells at the Sage Mountain pack or like the ones at our prison. These were cells with iron bars, to make sure you couldn’t touch them. There was a stone bench and a hole in the ground, I guess that was supposed to be the toilet. I walked closer to the cell to my left and saw it was Charlotte. She still seemed in shock, sitting with her legs up and rocking back and forth. Softly whispering, “it’s my fault, it’s my fault." I tried to talk to her, I reached my arm through the bars and felt the iron burn my skin. But not even my touch made an impact. I walked to cell on my right and peaked through the bars. A small women with short hair was sleeping

Chapter sixty-one

Axel’s pov I asked Elias to let Alpha Ivar know I was coming to see him. It would come across like a power move for an Alpha to come to another pack unannounced, especially with some men and his gamma. I didn’t want to make enemies while I was here, I just wanted to find Amber and Charlotte. Elias would be joining me in a few hours. I walked to the pack borders of the Shadow pack, I was here twelve years ago and a lot had changed. It looked a lot busier, like the pack had grew in the last few years. To accommodate all these people they had built a lot of new houses, the pack looked really good. Alpha Soren had taken over the land of Sage Mountain pack and some of it’s members, but it looked like Alpha Ivar had added even more land and members. When I arrived at the border I shifted back to my human form, two soldiers approached me and my men and handed us something to wear. They escorted us to the packhouse, almost like they had orders not to let me take a look around the area. Al

Chapter sixty-two

Amber’s pov As soon as Alpha Ivar left the dungeon I turned towards Jade. She was still lying on the ground, after being almost choked to death. That Alpha Ivar really had it out for her, they must have some history. I almost fell sorry for Jade, until I remembered she tried to kill Elias. I might have to put my anger aside though, if I wanted to escape. It didn’t look like Charlotte would be much help. “Jade, are you okay?” I asked coldly. Jade looked up and stared at me, it took her a few seconds to recognize me and she instantly tried to sit up and bowed her head. Showing your neck is a sign of dominance and respect. “Luna Amber. I am so sorry” Jade said. I did not want to talk about Elias right now, I just wanted to get out. “Let’s just discuss how we are going to get out of this. And why Charlotte is like that?” I said as I pointed to Charlotte still rocking back and forth. Jade swallowed carefully, her throat must still be sore and she touched her ribs. She came closer to

Amber’s pov Alpha Ivar walked out of Jade’s cell and closed the door. He walked over to mine. I saw Charlotte moving as if she was finally coming out of her shock. Alpha Ivar had been so busy beating Jade up, that he didn’t realize he was being mindlinked by his men for several minutes. When he stopped to walk to my cell, I saw the realization hit, the runes didn’t work anymore. And if the runes didn’t work anymore I could have alerted Axel or Elias by now. His men must be telling him about Charlotte’s son. Charlotte was standing up in her cell, a look of rage on her face, she shifted in her cell. Charlotte walked to the iron bars and grabbed them with both hands, I heard her skin sizzle as she ripped the door off. Alpha Ivar ran as fast as he could out the dungeon. Charlotte walked over to my and Jade cells and ripped open our doors. Jade crawled out of her cell, barely able to walk, while I shifted. The dungeon door opened and there were several wolves there and Alpha Ivar stood

Chapter sixty-four

Axel’s pov I came looking for Amber and Charlotte and I ended up having a son. That’s not something you just get used to. But I think Amber and I both forgot how much work a baby is, so we barely had the time to adjust. Hunter seemed to favor me. Which was fine, but I still had my responsibilities as Alpha. Logan offered to step in for a while, but his son was the same age as Hunter. In the end we found a solution, baby-carrying seemed to work like a charm. Amber carried Hunter most of the day, while I took care of some work. I had another lead on the witches, the girl Jade, that Elias brought home, much to Amber’s dismay. Jade now wanted to be called Finley, her real name. I guess she wanted a fresh start and live truthfully, but neither Amber or I trusted her. But I needed Finley’s help, I knew nothing of witches. If she could provide me some insight, I could finally decide if the group that lived nearby was friend or foe. And once I was finished with my research, Finley could go o

Chapter sixty-five

Axel’s pov Luckily both Elias and Finley accepted my proposal, Elias took Finley with him on his travels after she had fully healed. Now that I learned more about Finley’s grandmother I really needed to find that prophecy somewhere. I was pretty sure it wouldn’t be in any of the books we had, but if I could find this Willa perhaps she could help me. I reached out to all my allies, letting them know if they could help me track her. I mentioned to them that she wasn’t to be harmed, they should only let Willa know if she could contact me as soon as possible. I then mindlinked Amber and asked her how Hunter was doing. He had been with us for a couple weeks now, but I couldn’t imagine life without him. What I could imagine is sleeping ten full hours with Amber by my side or even better feeling Amber on me. But sadly there was no chance of that right now, Hunter has been so clingy even at night. I think he might have gotten very little attention at the orphanage and was scared we wouldn’t

Amber’s pov I love having Hunter around, but every time I see that little face of his I am reminded of Charlotte and I wish I could have stopped Alpha Ivar. I have killed men for less, but I understand what Elias wants to do with his court system. It’s important for him to have people be accountable and that every werewolf can see that. Since I was in the dungeon with Alpha Ivar, I can’t help Elias in the trial like we planned, I can only testify. So now I am focused on raising Hunter and Briana and being the best Luna I can be. I go to training every evening so that can get Ridley some exercise and I can practice my fighting skills. I want to be able to defend myself against anything, even though Kenzo said I already am at the top of the class. Things with Axel have been good, but I can sense and see that he is stressed out about the whole witch thing. I think he tries to do it all himself, because he doesn’t want to bother me. But last night I finally got him to share what has been

Axel’s pov’ Amber was right, we did need to prepare for the worst. So I contacted every ally and let them know to up their security. I told them there was a group of witches that had plans to potentially hurt werewolves, but that not all of the witches were bad. That last part was tough for most Alpha’s to except. Witches had always been our enemies and even when I explained about dark and white magic, they still didn’t trust any of them. “The only witch I trust is a dead witch,” was one Alpha’s remark. I understood where they were coming from. Our ancestors had fought against witches for years, but I truly believed you couldn’t just assume every witch was evil by default. There are bad witches, bad werewolves and bad humans. But that means there must also be good witches. I believed Willa when we talked and she had done nothing to help me. I would much rather have a friend than an enemy, but I was pretty mild tempered for an Alpha. I think that’s what Amber liked about me, but it

Chapter sixty-eight

Amber’s pov I had just arrived at the location of the courthouse and was greeted by Elias, Zoey and Finley. Finley and Elias both looked tense and like they needed a good night’s sleep. Preferably not together, because I still didn’t fully trust Finley. Her hair had grown over the last few months and she had put on some weight, but her face still showed how much she had gone through. “Hi mama, are you ready for the trial?” Elias asked me as he gave me a hug. I had mindlinked Axel on the way over and he had told me about the fires, which still had me worried. “Actually I’ve been busy stressing over your father on the drive over. He’s taking too much on. There was a fire in the forest and now he is tracking the source in the woods with Omar. He has people who can handle that, but he always wants to be hands on” I told Elias. Elias laughed, “just like you mama. It’s not like you ever sat back and let other people handle anything.” I frowned and playfully hit Elias on the arm. He was
