CHAPTER 1

She wiped the counter as she watched the clock impatiently. As much as Brooklyn liked her bakery, she was tired and she was sure her workers were too. She couldn’t wait to go home and catch some sleep.                                                              She moved into the kitchen to remove the last set of cupcakes from the oven “two hours left’ she muttered as she placed the red velvet cupcake in the show glass.                                                                  The bell at the door rang as the door to the bakery opened, as a couple approached the counter.         “Good evening’ she smi

CHAPTER 2

She stood, handing change and a bag of treats to a customer. She was so focused that she didn’t notice who walked in, but he sure as hell noticed her. He stood at the line stealing glances at her, and to him she was the most beautiful girl he had ever met. “Good morning, what can I get you?” she smiled, asking the next customer. She couldn’t help but take in the small features of his face. The short dark hair, captivating hazel green eyes, the freckles scattered on his nose and cheeks. In all, he was simply gorgeous. When he didn’t respond, she called out louder “uhm sir” shaking him out of his day dream.  “Oh yeah, can I have a chocolate mocha cupcake and a coffee to go please?” he asked, flashing her his infamous cheeky grin.  “That will be $4.64 please” she smiled.     He place a five on the counter, she turned and reached into the show glass and grabbed a chocolate mocha cake. Placing into a small box, and grabbed a cup of coffee.

She felt like she just got off a rollercoaster when she got home, the day’s work definitely took a toll on her.    She took off her sneakers and closed the door, her mind still reeling from the incident that happened earlier on.  She walked into the kitchen to fine her cousin, Mira preparing what appeared to be tacos for dinner.   One of her favorites.   “Hey couz, how was work?” Mira asked her.     “It was okay” she shrugged.    Mira gave her an unimpressed look “really? Is that all you’re going to give me?”   She sighed “look Mia, I’m really tired okay? I’ll give you the details later” “Sooo, why don’t you go up, freshen up, and then we’ll discuss over dinner okay?”    She simply nodded and exited the kitchen, heading to her room.

She ignored him “blueberry is also a nice option too, or do you prefer strawberry or butterscotch? And maybe fondant on the outside? It has a great look” He was about to say something, but he was interrupted by the blaring of his phone. He fished the phone out of his pocket and answered it. “What?” he asked gruffly. “I’m in a very important meeting” She snorted.                                               "Just postpone the meeting” he said “I’m occupied at the moment, and please no more of those damn press tours” She was curious about the phone call. Was it his personal assistant? Secretory? She thought. Even when they were in a relationship, Brian had always been really private. “Just twice a week,” he said, frowning “I can’t promise you more than that...Sure” He ended the call and shoved his phone back in his pocket.

Once he opened the door, she walked inside.  “Where’s your cousin?” he asked her   “Her boyfriend’s house I guess” she stood by the door.  “Should I stay over?” “Nope, you have stuffs to do” she waved him off “don’t worry, I’ll be fine” “Goodnight” “Good night best friend” she muttered as she slammed the door on his face. He stayed with her till twelve pm before he dashed out, promising to be back an hour before her check out.  Dr. James hadn’t visited her since last night, and it was almost time for her to go home.   She stayed in the room waiting for Tegan, who was downstairs, taking care of the bills.   She almost leaped off the bed when Dr.james walked in with Tegan, and they seemed to be in a serious conversation.  “Hello Brooklyn,” he greeted her “I can see that you’re ready to leave”    “Yes” she smiled.  &nbs

CHAPTER 7

They weren’t interested in making out just to prove a point, at least she wasn’t.     They both agreed to just do the simple things like, hold hands, hook arms, a kiss on the cheek. It’s not like anyone would expect them to shove their tongue down each other’s throat just because they were dating.    “You ready brook?” Tegan asked her, his voice filled with excitement.  “Let’s get this over with “she muttered.       It took her approximately four hours to decide on what to wear. She ended up with a deep green cocktail dress and Tegan dressed to kill. She was sure he probably spent the same hours she did to pick out what to wear, the connection in the party can really boost his career.  They both agreed that there was certainly no need to lie about his career or anything else, apart from the fact that they were dating of course. The few

“Anyways, why aren’t you at your party?”  “Because, I don’t really care about parties".he shrugged.“Why did you throw one then?” she asked, and he took a step towards her. “Once in a while you need to throw one, it is kind of a necessity".She rolled her eyes.“Wow, it must be really had” she said “just in case you didn’t notice, I was being sarcastic".   He laughed.  It was rich and deep, just as she remembered. “You haven’t changed you know” he said, taking another step towards her. He was much closer now, and the fact that she was alone with him made her even more tense.  Her stomach were literally in knots.“It is getting really cold out here,” she said, wrapping her arms round herself to make it more believable “I think I’m going to head back inside".

Brian adjusted beside her. She wanted the truth, and she was surely going to get it.  “Brooklyn stop acting ignorant, you damn well know the reason I invited you here”  “And that is?” “To see you of course” he answered, placing her hands in his. He slowly brought it to his lip, and kissed it.  She knew that giving in to this would only push her deep into whatever was going on between them. Her anger for him was still there, but yet she was reluctant to pull away. She felt herself leaning into him.  “Brooklyn! Are you out here?”   Tegan’s voice pulled her out of whatever spell she had been on, and she quickly pulled away.  She shifted away from him and scrambled to get up, but sits back due to the pain in her ankle. “Brook?” Tegan called again, as he walked towards the porch stairs, leading to the beach.  &ld
