Prologue

Everyone wants something magical to happen to them even just once in their life. People are vulnerable to fictional and unworldly stories that could somehow take them away from the cruel world that they are living in. And unfortunately, I am one of those who's desperate to escape the reality. "Werewolves or Lycanthropes are mythological beings that can morph both into a wolf like figure and human. Lycanthropes, just like normal wolves has sharp fangs and claws but almost five times bigger than a normal wolf. These morphers were known for their bloodthirsty lust for killing people and animals. They were always seen as strong and almighty creature with only but one flaw, temper. The moment a lycanthrope failed to control their emotions and temper, they will immediately turn into their monstrous form." "You really do have a thing for this, aren't you?" Justin said, unable to hide the disbelief in her voice, as if she is seeing something strang

Chapter 1: Austin

The aroma of coffee could be smelled in every corner of the shop. Latte, Cappucino, Brewed, and Black. The atmosphere was a little bit rowdy and loud as the cafe was packed of workers and students combined. Clock says it's 9 am, no doubt the cafe gets this energetic and noisy. I took on the last order for my morning shift and hurriedly removes the apron and cap that I'm wearing. For sure, Justin is annoyed waiting over 30 minutes now. She's not the type to wait for someone longer than 15 minutes. I could honestly see her face screaming at the top of her lungs. I grab my things and hurriedly fixes my self, "Manager! I'll be going now!" I shouted at Peter, the manager of the cafe I'm doing part-time. "Yeah! Be careful on the way! Say hi to Justin for me!" Peter said without turning his head. Blending the last order, I gave to him Peter is the manager/owner of the cafe that I am working at. Justin and I know him eve

Chapter 2: Shaun

Two   The wind blew harder as she just walked away without looking back. Without hesitation, her foot took determined step after another. She shows no signs of doubt in her every moves. She really is confident and sure as hell in her every step. It was as if taking those steps would never cause her regrets. She is really amazing.   "She's always like this" Justin suddenly said looking at her friend who is getting further and further away from us. "It's like she could leave anytime she want. Without having second thoughts, she could leave everything and everyone behind if she really have to. That's crazy and selfish Austin". I look at Justin, only to see her smiling but her face shows the complete opposite of that smile. She looks like she is about to cry. "Oh... Ju-Justin, are you okay?" I said and rushed over to her side but she raised her hand to stop me from taking another step. She smiled and took a deep breath, "Yes, I'm fi

Chapter 3: The book entitled "The First Born"

The sound of bumping spoon and fork, the different stories the people inside were talking, the chimes that ringing whenever someone would enter, it's like a well-balanced music ringing to my ear every night being in the counter of this cozy diners. Between the cafe and this place, I find the atmosphere in here more relax and calm. The wood design of Feel at Home makes it more welcoming and relaxing. It feels like we are inside an old house made of nothing but woods. The freshly cooked foods that we are serving would surely salivate anyone's mouth and that alone adds flavor to the homely essence of the diners. The people were happily talking and sharing their experiences. An intimate moment, unlike in the cafe where the customers are usually always in a hurry. The rush hour of dinner time just passed over an hour ago. The staffs were completely taking their break, while I am staring beyond the windowpane along the wooden door. Justin would usua

Chapter 4: "She's Interesting"

"That's it!" I said and immediately turned off the projector. My students yawn as they were fixing theirselves and their things, "Time to go home! But don't forget your critique paper, okay?" I added and closed my laptop. Last classes really takes toll on me. After every last class ever since I teach in this university, I would really feel tired and exhausted, it feels as if the last ounce of my energy has been depleted and I can't even lift a finger. Teaching the students is not that hard, I mean really. But talking for a couple of hours every class, now that is exhausting. The students wave their hands at me and I wave back as I sat on my chair, resting my tired body. "Yo Shaun!" Grey shouted leaning his self on the edge of the door. "Oh? I thought you already go home? Didn't your class ended a while ago?" I said, packing my things.  I walked towards him. He bump his fists to mine and grab my things, "I thought it would b

Chapter 5: Austin is Austin

Last night is sure the most tiring day I had for the past 19 years. Aside from that rainy lonely night when I runaway. Anyway, the alarm has been going on for over 10 minutes now. I reached for the damn alarm clock and turn it off. Slowly, I open my eyes looking straight into the ceiling. The world is quite spinning. My head is really heavy like I have a 10-kilogram of metal bar on top of my head. After the conversation with that cocky professor last night, I immediately went home. Unable to process all the information from the moment I read the book Justin gave me, to that conversation, I slowly dozed off. And here I found myself, wearing the same clothes I have last night. Eew. Despite having some issues with my head and everything, I need to pull myself up and start my day. There's no time for someone like me to take a rest and take it easy for my life is always on the line. It's been like that for almost five years. Yet, there are still day

Chapter 6: Loki

The sun is high on the sky. Clouds are clattering and sticking together as if it was a bulk of cottons hanging. Indeed, it is a clear day. People are minding their own business, going in their separate ways and Austin is one of those. She's on the counter duty in the cafe today and she's been staring beyond the windowpane. The wind must be taking her mind to somewhere. A typical normal day for Austin. It has been three days since she and Justin met up and it was always a clear and shiny day for her. For those three days, Austin has been working longer in the cafe as her friend Justin has so much to do these days, even lunch is difficult. Her friend has been asking her to come to the university but, Austin has made up her mind, she won't go there not unless she is with Justin. She's still afraid people would recognize her as the crazy girl shouting at a professor. That would be an end for her. Working longer is the only way Austin thought of

Chapter 7: Lycaea

It's a peaceful day. I could actually hear the whispering of the people around and the sound of flipping pages. That's how silent the place is. A smile slowly sneaks to my mouth. Another normal day for me. Well, until I remembered the face of that weird man. I've been thinking of the man that I have encountered in the cafe few days ago. I can still feel my body tensing up and the irritation that I felt when he called me by my full name. He's really weird, thankfully after placing the cappuccino, he left. If he hadn't left that moment, I swear I must have lost control over my temper and beat the hell out of him.  "Have you watched the news, Austin?" Justin said beside me scattering my thoughts.  We are inside the library once again. Rather, she went to my pad and dragged me here. Said that I haven't been in the library and I need to let the gears of my mind move if I don't want it to be rusty.   "What news?" I said clo

Chapter 8: The Lycan finally arrive in the City of Apollo

"Shaun!!! No! Stop!" I heard Loki screaming my name from a distance. He sounds so desperate as if he is pleading me. But the thirst that I am feeling right now can't easily be thrown away. Right in this moment, I want to feast on the person in front of me regardless of who they are. I just want to satisfy this thirst. I just want to feed whatever monster is inside of me. What can I do? It's not like I want this to happen. It's not like I want to be like this. I was born with this curse, with no options but to fill this unimaginable hunger. The only mistake that I did, is that I gave in to temptations. I knew I had to breath. I know it. But something in my abdomen keeps on disturbing me. The hunger that I am feeling keeps on pulling me, forcing me to let go of my sanity. "Shaun, please. Please... Remember who you are." Loki said leaving enough distance between us. I slowly turn my

Chapter 9: Silver and Fire for the Lycans

'Before they arrived at Apollo'   It's hot and painful. I could feel my skin tearing apart from my body and the unbearable pain flowing right through it. My hands are tied into a silver pole while the fire beneath me is burning not just the outside of my body, but also the inside. I have wounds all over me, multiple stabs, broken bones, blood gushing out but it's not as painful as seeing someone you truly treasure watching you being tortured by hundreds of people with such satisfaction in their face. That's the most painful punishment I could ever received in my life. No other weapon could inflict much greater pain in me than those pair of eyes. The eyes that was once looked at me with such concern, warmth and love is now looking at me with a hint of fear in them. How ironic. Slowly, I am losing my consciousness. My eyes are becoming heavy and I'm starting to feel numb. I can't feel any part of my body anymore.Tiredness is
