She's on the counter duty in the cafe today and she's been staring beyond the windowpane. The wind must be taking her mind to somewhere. A typical normal day for Austin. It has been three days since she and Justin met up and it was always a clear and shiny day for her.
For those three days, Austin has been working longer in the cafe as her friend Justin has so much to do these days, even lunch is difficult. Her friend has been asking her to come to the university but, Austin has made up her mind, she won't go there not unless she is with Justin. She's still afraid people would recognize her as the crazy girl shouting at a professor. That would be an end for her.
Working longer is the only way Austin thought of
It's a peaceful day. I could actually hear the whispering of the people around and the sound of flipping pages. That's how silent the place is. A smile slowly sneaks to my mouth. Another normal day for me. Well, until I remembered the face of that weird man. I've been thinking of the man that I have encountered in the cafe few days ago. I can still feel my body tensing up and the irritation that I felt when he called me by my full name. He's really weird, thankfully after placing the cappuccino, he left. If he hadn't left that moment, I swear I must have lost control over my temper and beat the hell out of him. "Have you watched the news, Austin?" Justin said beside me scattering my thoughts. We are inside the library once again. Rather, she went to my pad and dragged me here. Said that I haven't been in the library and I need to let the gears of my mind move if I don't want it to be rusty. "What news?" I said clo
"Shaun!!! No! Stop!" I heard Loki screaming my name from a distance. He sounds so desperate as if he is pleading me. But the thirst that I am feeling right now can't easily be thrown away. Right in this moment, I want to feast on the person in front of me regardless of who they are. I just want to satisfy this thirst. I just want to feed whatever monster is inside of me. What can I do? It's not like I want this to happen. It's not like I want to be like this. I was born with this curse, with no options but to fill this unimaginable hunger. The only mistake that I did, is that I gave in to temptations. I knew I had to breath. I know it. But something in my abdomen keeps on disturbing me. The hunger that I am feeling keeps on pulling me, forcing me to let go of my sanity. "Shaun, please. Please... Remember who you are." Loki said leaving enough distance between us. I slowly turn my
'Before they arrived at Apollo' It's hot and painful. I could feel my skin tearing apart from my body and the unbearable pain flowing right through it. My hands are tied into a silver pole while the fire beneath me is burning not just the outside of my body, but also the inside. I have wounds all over me, multiple stabs, broken bones, blood gushing out but it's not as painful as seeing someone you truly treasure watching you being tortured by hundreds of people with such satisfaction in their face. That's the most painful punishment I could ever received in my life. No other weapon could inflict much greater pain in me than those pair of eyes. The eyes that was once looked at me with such concern, warmth and love is now looking at me with a hint of fear in them. How ironic. Slowly, I am losing my consciousness. My eyes are becoming heavy and I'm starting to feel numb. I can't feel any part of my body anymore.Tiredness is
The popping sound of bubble wrap, birds tweeting outside of my window, the old and rundown room I was living in. This has been 'the' normal for me. The scenery of people coming in and out of the house, with or without a child in their hands is just a typical day for me to wake up for. I stretches my body, warming up every joints and muscles in it and forces myself to stand up. It's time for me to fix my bed and out of this room. I jumped out of bed hurriedly. I don't want to spend another day in that dirty cell just because I have come down late for five minutes. When I went downstairs one time, with 8:05 am on the clock, I was pinched and put on a dark dirty cell just because I didn't help with the morning chores that day. Isn't that funny? A heavy punishment for a light and small mistake. Ironic. After fixing my bed, and putting away the bubble wrap I got when one of the children in here received a package from their pa
Every day, for the last nine and a half year, I always need to meet everybody's wavelength. I'm always the one that has to meet the end of the stick. No matter how harsh they treat me, I just to accept it all just like that. Its like I always need to bow my head before them. I always need to adjust myself to them. And I've never been myself ever since. I am the kind of Austin that everybody wants. A timid, easy to control, coward Austin. "When do you want to celebrate your birthday this year brat?" Mona, the event coordinator of Hilther Foster Home asked me the moment I land my hands to the knob of my door. My body tremble from the sole of my feet to the top of my head. I have always been afraid of the people from Hilther. Its like they can and will actually beat the hell out of me the moment I did something wrong. It feels like their eyes are always glued to me, watching my every move. Or more like monitoring me. Why the hell i
The sound of the swaying trees, birds tweeting, and the heavy breaths from tiredness is all I could hear as I feel my body floating in the air. I am positive, I'm being carried by someone on its back. I instantly open, I could the heat from the shining sun directly on my face. Although hesitant, I move my eyes around just to see a vast view of big trees and lots of wild animals walking along us on our way. "Whe-where the hell are we?" I said tapping the top of his shoulder. "Shaun, you're awake." I heard Loki's voice saying in a happy tone. He put me down on the grass and hand me a bottle of water. I immediately took the bottle of water from him and feast on the water as I slowly felt the thirst creeping in. I sit down on the ground. I feel like I haven't had any fluids in my body. I feel so withered. "What happened? Why am I in your back?" I said looking at him, confused. He sat down beside me an
No one dare to break the silence between me and Loki. I did expect asking him would result to this but, I didn't know that it would be this awkward just from asking something Priam have left for me. Is it really that bad? He just stood few steps away from me with a bitter and sad smile on his face. But between the desire to know the truth about myself and the fear from seeing a more terrifying view than what I saw last night, the hunger for truth is what I really crave. But I know, Loki won't have me satisfy that hunger in me with that kind of look on his face. He just stand there for another minute before he finally speak up. "When you discover the things written on dad's journal Shaun, believe me, the look on Anna's face would be nothing compared to that." Loki said looking at me wearing a serious face. "Do you really think you can handle that?" Loki's serious face has become cold. He looks as if he is mocking me. "Aft
Weeks before the Lycaea happens Crescent Moon is one lovely and definitely lively university. Students are all rays of sunshine every time I see them spending their youthful days inside the campus. It's fun watching these kids have this kind of freedom in their hands. Something that both Shaun and I would never experience. I'm glad I will be one of the instructors of this university tomorrow. I'm actually looking forward to that. For all the years we have stayed here, watching this people secretly is one of the things I look out for every day. From tomorrow onwards, I can observe and watch them to my heart's content. The town of Orion is by far the most beautiful place we've been. It has vast fields of green and beautiful sceneries and has many unvisited forests. It was a town in the middle of thousands of trees. That's what I love about it the most. The people are also warm and it was always spring and sun
