Vincent pov     When I made my decision, I had no idea how hard it might be. At first, isolating myself from Enya seemed like the easiest thing to do since I didn't deserve to be close to her. I still don't deserve it. But as time goes on, day by day, it gets harder and harder. I can't sleep or eat without thinking of her. I've done my best to stay away from the pack and my best friend. Even at times, when I run into the patrolling wolves- as soon as they try to bare their necks to show me what little respect they still have for me, I turn around and leave. I don't deserve the respect they try to show me. What kind of an Alpha can I be when I have treated my own mate so poorly? Hell, I can't call myself a man anymore. Enya pov  Since the nurse came clean with everything that happened while I wasn't entirely present, many things changed. I learned that Aros had indeed become an Alpha, and Vincent had chosen to live in isolation from the rest of the pack. His decision wasn't based on shame over losing the title, nor anything to do with me, but on the fact that he needed time to himself. At least, that's what Aros told me. I agreed to stay in the pack, as Aros explained that he could protect me only if I stayed. Besides, since the fall of the Alliance, it's not like I have anywhere else to go. Everyone in the pack is way too friendly, and every time someone flashes me a smile, I feel guilty. For everything I've done, said, and thought of them without bothering to get to know the wonderful people I once considered to be monsters.  

Vincent pov  A large amount of water poured over me jolts me awake. I have no idea when or how I passed out, but if I know anything, it's that I'm chained to a goddamn wall. Now I understand how Enya felt. Someone's fist collides with my jaw, and as I spit out some blood, I wish the bastard would show his face. I'm getting out of here no matter what, and after this, every man involved in this shit should pray for his life. I won't let anyone get away when it's over. "Wakey, wakey, Alpha," the same shithead who hit me speaks up. He laughs, and everyone else in the room immediately joins his example. I feel like I'm trapped at a shitty school party, and no other shifters besides the hyenas have decided to join in. Their laughter is disgusting. I'd rather listen to Aros whine than these

Enya pov  As Diego's lifeless body collapses at my feet, his words echo in my mind. "In a few hours, you'll find out what it's like to lose a mate." My eyes frantically search the hallway until they fall on the old, barely noticeable door. I run as if the building is on fire. When I open the door, I notice Vincent immediately. He doesn't react when I step closer- he's obviously drugged as his body seems limp. I search the room until I find the keys to the chains. As I free Vincent from the chains, his body falls on top of mine. Only then does he realize what has happened. His eyes meet mine and widen instantly. "This isn't how I imagined our first time," Vincent mutters, losing consciousness. Although the comment is ridiculous, I have to focus on how to get him back to the packhouse instead of laughing. 

Vincent pov I've hated the stench of a hospital since I was young, so waking up in a hospital is not exactly a pleasant feeling. I try to rub my eyes, but someone quickly grabs my hand and hushes me. It's not Enya; no sparks fly at the touch. I wonder if she's around here, waiting for me to wake up. Speaking of which- how long I was out? It must be at least a couple of hours, but I feel more rested than ever. The last thing I remember is Enya's frantic face as she tried to find the keys to those damn chains, then I fell on top of her, and everything went black.
