Chapter Twenty

I walked out of the room with my bird on my shoulder. I found myself in a long passage decorated with black shiny sculptures of wolves, knights and swords and pictures of the moon, halfman-half wolf, packs of wolves and several things my brain couldn't understand. At the end of the passage was a double mahogany door with a golden knob. As I arrived at the door, I looked back and noticed that the room I had stayed was the only room in the passage. I held the door knob and twisted it slowly as I admired the beautiful door. The door was heavy and thick, probably six to seven inches but inspite it's thickness, it was incredibly easy to open. As the large doors opened, chattering of several human beings became audible and it became obvious to me that the door was noise proof. Immediately I stepped out, the whole chattering stopped and everywhere became awkwardly silent. By my right and left were long curly stairs which led downstairs. At my front were large chandeliers which tempted me t

Chapter 21

"Dead." I mumbled in shock.            "Yes...and all he wanted was to see you." Her voice faded as tears began falling from her eyes.    She stared at her watch."He...died twenty minutes ago, but I had arrived here an hour before and he had told me to search for you, that's all he cared about...you."           Guilty. I felt really Guilty. Although, I didn't cry but I felt very bad. Jordan had been very nice to me the first time we met and had treated me like his daughter. Apart from his niceness, he was the only person who knew about my father. I had lost the opportunity to know basic things about my Dad all because of my clumsiness.

Chapter 22

Both I and Checkmate, hurried to the Pack house with Cicily and my bird, flying above us.       The night was cold and chilly but I still felt hot as hell. My mind was working faster than it should with thoughts ransacking my brain.         The young boy seemed frightened and worried for some reasons I was unaware of which made me wonder what Ava had done to the pack.         The paved way through the gardens seemed longer and farther to the house than it had been when I had first passed it, probably because I was having fun then and now I was in the most confused state I had ever been.    &nb

Chapter 23

The door to Dylan's room creaked open as I pushed it gently. He was sitting down on his bed with a bottle of Vodka in his hand. He didn't notice my presence until I was standing right in front of him. He raised his eyes from the floor and stared at me. I expected him to have cried as he had lost his father, which made him an orphan now. Although, he looked pale and sad, his eyes were crystal clear and not even a single tear was sighted. He looked away from me and back to the floor with his vodka dancing in his hands. "What are you doing here?" He asked. I ignored the question and I sat beside him. He didn't move nor say anything, his eyes were fixed on the floor like there was something important on the floor. I cleared my throat as I began to talk but I stopped midway as I realized that I had nothing to say. I didn't know how to console anyone but myself and i was sure that any word i say would sound stupid to him. Awkward silence existed in the room as the only sound he

Chapter 24

A week had passed since I had come to the pack house and yet I hadn't read the letters. I tried several times but I couldn't bring myself to read them, simply because I was somehow scared of it's contents.           The first one was from my father while the second was from.my mother.           It was a bright Monday morning and I was still slumped.on my bed with the envelope beside me.          Dylan walked in slowly and woke up with a kiss to my lips which jerked me out of my sleep.             "Prince Charming kisses the sleeping beauty and she wakes

Chapter 25

"Have you read the letters?" Margaretta asked as we walked through the enormous building.          I had no idea where we both were actually heading to, but Margaretta had once told me about a conference room where meetings took place.             "No." I said calmly. I didn't know why I felt somehow sad and uncomfortable anytime I heard anything about my late parents or why I couldn't bring myself to read it.          "Take your time, my dear." She said as she led me to a double-door which she opened and walked through.           I took a step into the brigh

Chapter Twenty Six

"Ava." Dylan said in shock.   "Hi. Are you surprised to see me?" She asked.    "Uhm..yes." Dylan stuttered.     "I don't see why you should be surprised, by the way if this is a meeting about the pack, then I should be here to influence your decisions...as a senior member of the pack."       She took a seat out and sat down with her legs crossed. "I had waited outside to be welcomed but none of you had the courtesy of welcoming me, so I did the honours myself." "If I may ask, how long have you been outside." Kelvin asked.     She giggled  "long enough to hear your amazing plan of attacking the Lycans."     All eyes were on Ava and I was pretty sure she enjoyed i

Chapter 27

On the wooden floor of my room was my bird. It had been pinned to the floor with two daggers on both its wings.       "Oh, no!" I exclaimed as I hurriedly walked to it.          I fell to my knees and patted my poor bird, who whimpered in fright.        "Who could have done this?" I said aloud as my hands trembled.      My question was answered by a piece of paper stuck to one of the knives which pinned my bird.         Boldly written on the paper was the name; Ava Sa

Chapter 28

It felt like time became slower and for that brief moment of falling and giving up on life, I felt no pain, no joy, not even peace nor regret.          "Hillary!!!!"    I heard someone call out.             Then impact.   I had imagined falling to be hurtful and painful but it was painless.            In my mind I thought; Am I dead?          That question was answered

Chapter 29

"Hillary!"    Dylan rushed to me with worry written all over his face. "Where have you been?"        I smiled. "I went back home." I walked to him and gave him a brief kiss on his lip. "You worry too much." I added as I walked back into the house ignoring the large number of people that were outside with bright torches in their hands.         Dylan trailed after me as I walked into my room.          "Hillary, where were you?" He asked.        "Shut the door." I replied ignoring his question.
