Benton woke up with a start as he felt the shirt he was wearing moving slightly. It was also wet. It took him a minute to realize he was on the couch and not in his bed and that there was another person there by his side. She was making noises that he couldn’t hear properly. He shifted slightly, and then he knew she was asleep. She was also trapped in a nightmare. “Kelly?” he asked quietly. Then he tried to wake her gently. He was trying as hard as he could to get her to wake up. Her sounds were getting worse. He then shook her a little harder, and she gasped. “Kelly, wake up.” “I’m, I’m awake.” She said as she tried to find her voice. He saw her face into the darkness and knew she had been crying in her sleep. “It’s okay. You’re here with me. Sweetheart, you are safe.” He said softly, rubbing her back as she sat up. “Benton, it hurts.” She said as she rubbed her head a bit more. She was not even trying to hide the tears
