CHAPTER ELEVEN

“Good morning.” Liam didn’t need to turn to reply as Steve was walking by his side. “Good morning.” “How was your night?”  Liam stopped to reply. “Shorter than usual due to a certain someone but it was worth it. Yours?” “It was great,” Steve said. “Oh, look. Jasmine.” “Jas,” Liam called out to her. “Hey, morning.” “Hey,” she returned his greeting, her eyes shifting to Steve. “Hi.” “Hi,” Steve waved. “Right, I wanted to ask. When are we going to be starting our project?” “I thought Liam was the only nerd here,” Jasmine said, a hint of playful disappointment in her voice. “Trust me, it’s nothing like that,” Steve responded. “I wouldn’t mind leaving the whole job for Li

CHAPTER TWELVE

"What are your plans for after school?"It was a Friday and Liam, Jasmine and Nick all had English. The walk to the class was rather silent, probably because they all had different things on their minds. It was the day of Steve's match and Liam couldn't get it off his mind. He was going to be present, certainly, but he didn't want to be there alone. Jasmine knew him way too well to not be surprised at him attending an high school football match voluntarily. The first and last time he went to one was when Chad was playing and Jas wanting to be the supporting girlfriend, forced him to tag along. Now he was attending a high school match because his boyfriend was playing."Go straight home and sleep," Jasmine replied, not stopping to reply. The trio were becoming comfortable around each other enough to say things without thinking."Um... nothing much. Just chill a little bit and maybe

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Trigger warning//~ Talks about deaths included. 7:00am. It was the earliest Liam had woken up on a weekend. Normally he'd sleep in on weekends with Jasmine and whenever they both woke up, they'd try to eat whatever they could make out of the ingredients in the kitchen. But it was different that weekend. Jasmine wasn't around or coming over and the kitchen was empty.  Steve offering to help him with cooking was going to be perfect. He wasn't that bad of a cook but he was sure he could use a hand. Especially one from someone who seemed so confident about his cooking. By 7:30am he was all freshened up. He headed downstairs and served the last bits of cereal the carton had to offer, feeling the wide empty space in the bowl with milk.  By the time he was done with everything that needed to be done which included tidying the kitchen and taking out the trash, it was almo

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Liam's mum was finally getting discharged and he was more than ready to welcome her. The dining table was filled with food- both freshly cooked and the ones from yesterday cooking frenzy. It was perfect and he just couldn't wait to welcome her. Brian had offered to pick her from the hospital while Liam stayed back at home to anticipate. He had tidied the house again for the millionth time. Her room was finally going to be getting company for the first time in years. He used new curtains and the beds also had new covers on them. The slippers he got while shopping with Steve were also laying next to her bed and he replaced her rug with the softest one the mart had to offer. He wasn't going out but he was dressed up. He wore a black and white striped turtle neck top and new jeans. His hair was washed and combed down the way she always did when he was younger. He paraded the living room, his phone in his hand as he pat

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

"Heyyy guysssss," Liam greeted in the most  cheerful voice. "Good morningggg." "Hey good morning," Nick replied, giving Jasmine a confused look. "You seem to be in a really good mood. Something amazing happened?" Liam smiled as he remembered how his day started. Instead of being woken up by his alarm clock, he was woken up with slow gentle taps from his mum. It felt like a good dream but it was real. When he headed downstairs to have his usual cereal for breakfast, she was in the kitchen and handed him a Ziploc of sandwiches. "Yeah," he couldn't take the smile off his face. "My mum's finally home. She finally got discharged." "Oh, that's great news," Nick sounded genuinely happy for him. "I bet you're so happy." "He is," Jasmine did the replying. "I have good news too but before that." She pulled Liam closer to her. "You sneaky little rat. You're not goi

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Liam knew something was off the minute his alarm clock didn't ring at 6:30am. His eyes slowly opened and he looked around him. Still sleepy, he tried to place a finger on what was happening. He wasn't in his bedroom. The walls around him were painted white instead of blue and there were unfamiliar vases containing artificial flowers. "Oh my God!" His eyes flew open he finally realized where he was. He looked down and saw Steve sleeping next to him. "Steve!" "Yeah?" Steve got up, rubbing his face sleepily. "What's it?" "What am I doing here?" Liam demanded, getting to his feet. "What happened?" "Yesterday," Steve was finally fully awake. "What? Don't you remember? It's not like you were drunk." "No I do," Liam ran his hands through his hair. "I remember waiting for you then i slept off. Yeah where were you? You weren't replying any of my t

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Liam felt weak.  On Steve leaving the rooftop, Liam stayed there, a million things going on his head. The anger in his head had subsided, now replaced with a feeling of anguish.  Steve's words echoed in his head and he hated every single of them. They made him mad. They made him confused. They made him anxious. They made him feel emotions he couldn't explain.  After a while, he headed downstairs. Having spent close to ten minutes on the rooftop, he hoped and believed the hallways were going to be empty. The last thing he wanted was walking through a hallway filled with people.  Like he hoped, the hallways were empty when he got there. As fast as he could, he walked out to the usual spot Brian parked the car.  "Liam!" Jasmine rushed towards him as she spotted him. He internally groaned as he walked towards her, Brian and the car. "God, I looked everywhere

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Liam stepped out of his house expecting to meet Brian standing by the car waiting for him. Instead, he met Brian alongside Jasmine smiling.   "Jas," he called out as he walked towards her. "What are you doing here?"   "Isn't it obvious?" she asked, getting into the car. "I'm here to get a free ride to school."   Liam shook his head, smiled and joined Jas at the back seat. "You were literally here yesterday."   "How are you?" she asked in a voice lower than normal as Brian turned the car on.   "Fine," Liam replied, adjusting his backpack. He knew what she meant so he didn't bother uselessly beat around the bush. "We spoke yesterday." On the phone till past midnight.   Their conversation from the previous day didn't end at them confirming they were still one month boyfriends. They talked about random things until Steve finally sounded completely sober. They tal

CHAPTER NINETEEN

Steve was going to be picking Liam up in less than two hours. Liam wasn't as nervous as he thought he was going to be about going to the party. Nick was going to be attending it too not because he fancied Trevor but because it was just another high school party to him. For him, attending parties threw by students at school was a normal thing he was just going to repeat.  On hearing Liam was going to be attending the party, Nick automatically suggested picking him up. With a smile, Liam declined his request remembering Steve Reeds was going to be doing him that favor already. "C'mon Jas," Liam pleaded for the millionth time on the phone. "You love parties, don't you? It'd be fun." When he included having Jasmine tag along as a condition to him going to the party, he hadn't expected her to refuse going so strongly. He had been trying to come up with reasonable reasons to go since the moment

They left the party few minutes after nine. Steve suggested them spending the night at Trevor's cause it was late already but Liam insisted on going home thus he had to drive him. The drive was home was silent, the duo having different things on their minds. "Will you be heading back home?" Liam finally broke the silence when they were already close to his place.  "Nope," Steve's eyes were fixed on the road as he drove. "I'll be spending the night at Trevor's. It's a weekend anyways." "Oh," Liam toyed with his fingers. "So you'll be spending the weekend at his place?" "Nahh," Steve shook his head. "I'll be be going back home tomorrow. Why?" "Why what?" "Why are you asking?" "Can't I just be curious?" "I don't know," Steve took a quick glance at Liam. "Do you have any plans for your weekend?"
