CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

It was a Monday morning and Brian drove Liam to school as usual. On getting to school, immediately Liam stepped out of the car, he spotted Jasmine rushing towards him. "Hey, Liam," she held onto him as she got infront of him. "Are you okay?" "Hey, hey," Liam pulled away. "Of course I'm okay. What's up? Why do you look so worried?" She exhaled, taking few steps backwards. She ran her hand through her hair, leaving it disheveled. Her face screamed worry as she looked at Liam. "Jasmine?" She exhaled again. "I guess you've not seen it."   "Seen it? What?" "Don't freak out, okay?" she placed her hand on Liam's shoulders.  Liam was beginning to be worried. "Fine." "It's about you and Steve," she began. "You both...I don't even know if it's a real picture or not but there's a picture of you two

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

Liam, Jasmine and Steve had gotten used to spending time together. Ever since their last attempt at getting together at Steve's house for the project's fail, all they did was meet up at the library during free periods or after school hours to work on it. It was finally the day of their project and they were spending their recess in the library getting ready. Liam had distributed their points and likely questions they could be asked to them and had gotten them ready.  "It's just another Miss Laura's project," Steve said to Liam. "You don't need to feel nervous." "I'm not nervous." "Majority of her grades do not come from what you actually present," he continued, ignoring Liam's claim. "I've told you already. It's all about teamwork and we're a pretty good team already." "Oh yes we are," Jasmine included, smirking. "Right, I wanted to ask. Do you know who Nick got paired with?

CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

It was recess and Liam and Jasmine were stuck on what to eat. "I think I'll just go with a Coke," Liam said after staring at the menu for an unusual amount of time. "I don't think I'm that hungry." "Two burgers and two cokes then," Jasmine made up her mind. "Two burgers?" "Yeah, me and you," she replied. "You're not starving on my watch." They walked into the main interior of the cafeteria stylishly looking around for an empty seat. Their usual seat wasn't taken so they just walked over to it. It was just the two of them. Nick was still nowhere to be found and Steve was sitting with friends. After texting Steve when he got home as promised the previous day, they talked for a while about random things and ended the texts normally. Liam took a huge bite out of his burger and immediately spotted Nick walking into the caf

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

Their goodbyes were awkward as Steve dropped Liam off at his place.  Liam stepped out of the car and headed inside.  He spotted the car parked signifying his mum was back. He exhaled and opened the door to the interior part of the house. His mum was in the living room sitting on a sofa. She was still in work clothes and her bag was next to her.  "Mum," he smiled, sitting opposite her. "You're back." "Honey, you're home. Just got back few minutes ago," she picked up her bag to take something from it. "How was school?" "It was...great," Liam replied, remembering the day's events. "And how was work?" "Very well, thank you," she beamed. "You must be exhausted. Go freshen up. I'll do the same and come down to make dinner later." "Um, mum," he said as she got up to leave.  "Yes?" He

CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

Liam was stuck. Looking at himself in the mirror for the hundredth time, he was in a white sweatshirt with imprints and dark blue jeans. His hair was washed and styled and he was ready to go. However, he had no idea how he was going to get there. His mum wasn't back from work yet so there was no way Brian could pick him and Steve was playing so there was no way he'd leave his team just to come pick up one of the numerous people that'd be watching. He suddenly remembered Nick. He had no idea if he was also going to be at the match but Liam strongly doubted it. Just like he asked, he was giving him space. The space he needed to get over him, he hoped. Thus, he was stuck. He headed downstairs, thinking of how to get to school. He could take the bus but he didn't even know where to or how the whole bus system worked. Knowing he would probably end up not going if he couldn't find a wa

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

"Do you want to meet my mum?" "What?" Steve stopped the car as they had gotten to Liam's. "Tonight? Isn't it late?" "It is," Liam unclasped his seatbelt. "But you're driving me home this late. I think she'll be glad to meet who drive me home this late. And you invited me for a dinner tomorrow, right? How am I supposed to tell mum I'm going over to a friend's for dinner when she doesn't even know who the friend is." "Okay okay," Steve also unclasped his seatbelt. "Let's go. I'm also excited to meet her."   They got down and stepped into Liam's house. It wasn't Steve first time so he could easily find his way around. The door was locked, Liam pressing the doorbell. Few seconds later, his mum opened the door. "Oh, Liam you're finally home," she opened the door. "I was about to call you. Right, I saw your text. How was the football? Did your school's team wi

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

Six eyes turned in Steve's direction. He swallowed, holding on to Liam's hand tighter as he anticipated their comments. "Boyfriend?" Oliver spoke first, surprised. "Woah, i-" "Don't act so surprised dad," Steve faced his dad.  "I'm not," he dropped his cutlery. "I mean, I am but not too surprised. I was expecting it. I could tell.  I'm just surprised that it happened already like it feels so soon." "You're gay?" Grace said, her eyes on Steve. Her faced screamed disgust as he looked at Steve then Oliver. "Oliver, your son is gay?" "No, he's not," Oliver laughed. "I mean I don't think so. I mean he has dated girls before so no he's not really gay." "So it's just a phase then?" she asked Oliver. He wasn't expecting the question as he remained silent. "Okay, it might be just a phase but still are you going to tolerate it?" "Excuse m

CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

Liam: Jas Liam: Can you come over. It was few minutes to eight and Liam was sitting on the floor, his back rested on his bed, a million things running through his mind. He woke up few minutes past six, finding himself wrapped around Steve's arms. He mentally groaned as memories of the previous day came rushing. Carefully enough to not wake Steve, he got out of his bed. He still had his clothes on so all he had to do was get his sneakers and put them on. He glanced at him one more time and opened his room door to leave. Immediately he got downstairs, he met Steve's dad sitting on a sofa in the living room. "Oh," he wasn't expecting anyone to be up so early. "Good morning, sir." "Oh, Liam it's you," he turned from the sofa, dropping his mug on the table closest to him. "Morning. You're up so early, are you okay?" "Yeah,

CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

Liam gulped.   Walking towards him with a backpack around his shoulder and head hung low was Steve.  Liam looked around him hoping to find someone he could run towards but found none. It was still morning and he only had a few minutes to his first class.   Liam had texted him earlier in the morning telling him to go to school without him. Steve had asked him for a reason to which he replied to saying he had to go somewhere with his mum first before coming to school. They were all lies though- Liam wasn't ready to face him yet after realizing his feelings.   Their eyes finally met and he knew he could no longer avoid him. With lips curving into a smile, he walked towards Steve.   "Hey," Steve said when they were infront of each other.   "Hey."   "How are you?" Steve asked him. "I texted you throughout yesterday and you didn't reply any of them. Even when

CHAPTER THIRTY

"Come in." Liam ushered him in, ignoring his previous words. He had only walked halfway into the living room when Steve held his arm. "Why are you mad at me?" Liam turned, Steve's grip still on his arm. "I'm not mad at you." "Don't lie to me," Steve replied him. "You've been acting different." "Doesn't mean I'm mad at you." "Then what is it, Liam?" He held Steve's hand. "Regarding the text messages, I'm sorry I didn't reply them. I was wrapped up with different things I didn't notice," he said. He was never going to admit the truth to him. "And I really really wanted to ask how you were. I wanted to know how you were fairing. If you and your dad had made up or not. I really wanted to but I know I didn't. I'm sorry." "It's fine," Steve squeezed his hands. "I'm sorry too. About you and Miley-" "Hone
