Chapter 128: Just A Nightmare

“Who is that?” Rose asked. Roosevelt answered with a bitter smile. “That’s me.” Rose glanced between the two people. It was definitely believable that it was her that casted all those spells at once. Rose still wanted to make sure.“That’s you?” Roosevelt chuckled softly. “I hate my past self. I did as my father told without question. As much of a genius as I am, I did not realise what I was doing was wrong.” She shook her head side to side slowly. “That is not who I want you to be. I want my descendants, all of my descendants, to live a peaceful life.” Then her expression changed from sadness and regret to anger. “But that boy just had to bring you with him.” Rose was confused and surprised by the sudden change in Roosevelt. “Who are you talking about?” “Drag

Chapter 129: Watching From Afar

Matthew ran as fast as he could through the streets as he made his way to the hospital. The hospital was filled with people and so was the elevator. He took the stairs and made his way up to the fifth floor. Then he continued running towards a certain ward. He saw a few people standing in front of the ward's door. Cecilia, Yuki and even Gustav and Emilia were there. Matthew stopped once he arrived. They already saw him from afar and turned their attention to him. “I came as fast as I could. What happen-” *SLAP* Before Matthew could finish speaking, Cecilia slapped him on his cheek. Matthew held his cheek and looked at Cecilia confused. “Where have you been?” Cecilia asked him with a threatening voice. While still confused by why he just got slapped, Matthew answered. “I just got back from a quest.”

Chapter 130: Involvement

Matthew was sitting outside the ward on the bench outside. He’s been sitting there for almost an hour already but Rose did not move at all. She was probably asleep. Matthew distracted himself to kill time by imagining many random scenarios in his mind. At some point, he recalled the time he took the Hunter Exam. When he fought a student who had been killing other students in the exams. “Alan, was it?” Matthew asked himself, trying to remember the guy’s name. “What’s wrong with Alan?” A man’s voice suddenly came from his right. There, he saw one the most powerful Hunters in the world. “Ajax?!” Matthew stood up as he was shocked to see him. “Relax, kid.” Ajax said as he walked closer to Matthew. “Ahh sorry, just surprised to see you here. Are you visiting someone?” Matthew asked

Chapter 131: Note 2

Rose laid still on the bed. Her eyes were swollen from crying until her tears dried up. She was devastated by the nightmare she had. She didn’t let anyone in no matter who because she feared what might happen. It was not safe for her to stay here either. She must find a plan to run away and stay hidden. She looked out the window and it was already night. She felt her stomach rumbling. She had not eaten for the entire day but she did not have an appetite despite her hunger. She rubbed her eyes and slowly sat up. She looked around the dark room. The only source of light was from the window leading outside and the hallway light that leaked through the door’s window. Rose snuck a peek through the door window. “No one there.” This was the perfect time. It was night and there were none of her friends there. Rose dragged her body to get off the bed. As soon as she stood up, her head

Chapter 132: Shared Secret

Matthew stood in front of the door while Rose stared at him from the bed. Upon seeing him, "go away" were the only words that came out of her mouth. Matthew did not move. “No,” he said. He stepped closer toward Rose. Rose pushed herself up the bed, trying to stay away from Matthew. “Go away!” She shouted. Matthew didn’t want to attract attention so he stopped. “Rose, relax. I just want to talk.” “No, we can’t talk. We can’t…” Rose shook her head slowly as she said. Matthew spoke as softly as he could. “Please.” He looked deeply into Rose’s eyes, trying to be as innocent and sincere as he could. Luckily, it worked and Rose gave in. She nodded once but refused to look at Matthew. Matthew eased up and stood in place. Matthew thought about what to say f

Chapter 133: The Elf Siblings

from her eyes.In a cafe that was not very busy, two elves were sitting at a table by a window of the cafe. Rain and Layla stared at their drinks that neither of them touched yet. “So uhh, would you like to explain?” Rain spoke first and asked a question. Layla’s head fell down and hung from her shoulder. “What am I even supposed to explain?” Then her head sprung up as she almost shouted at Rain. “He got back before I even noticed!” “Yeah right. Good thing you contacted me before I actually went to the mountains.” Rain picked up his cup and took a sip. He shook his head violently and stuck out his tongue in disgust. “What is this?” “Just coffee of my taste.” “It’s so bitter. You really like this?” Rain pointed to the cup that he was still

Chapter 134: The Trickster's Plan

Knights in silver armour were marching in a formation. Each of them synchronized their footsteps as they marched into the mouth of the open gate of a castle. Carts carrying edible goods were being checked by other knights before letting them pass through. The carts stopped in front of a storage house where they were stopped by a pair of knights on duty. The knights took a glance at the goods and at the receipt handed by the merchant. After that, the merchant parked his cart in the back of the storage house where he usually would. He got down from the carriage and checked his surroundings. Then he moved to the back of the cart and flipped. “Hey, I think it’s safe to come out.” He whispered. A pair of eyes took a peek and observed the surroundings first before coming out. He silently came down from the back of the cart while still watching his surroundings. Once he was sure, he faced

Chapter 135: Recovery

A few days later. Rose had significantly recovered from her trauma thanks to Matthew. Now she was sitting in the library, reading books as she usually would on a normal day. The book she was reading was titled: King of Chaos, The Scarlett King. The contents were about the characteristics of Leviticus Scarlett, his life story, his uprising and his end. Details including his family and empire were also written. Rose had the past few days learning about it. The door squeaked open and Matthew entered the library. He looked at the wall where the paint was not really matching in colour to the rest of it. Then he walked towards the table where Rose was sitting. “What volume are you on now?” He asked as he pulled a chair opposite of Rose to sit on. “The last one. It’s just everything about the Scarlett War.” “So quick! Do you read

Chapter 136: Promotion

Inside a room with five people, three were sitting on a couch, one person was sitting in a chair behind a desk and another stood beside him. There was a coffee table in between the couch and the desk. Matthew, Cecilia and Rose stared at the person behind the desk in silence. Jack was looking at a few pages inside the files on his desk while Sara stood and watched them. After some time, Jack finally sorted all the papers and set the files aside. He interlocked his fingers and glanced over the faces of the Hunters in front of him. After getting a good look, he finally spoke. “First and foremost, I welcome you. It’s not everyday that I myself do a promotion interview.” The young Hunters’ faces were tense. Clearly, they were nervous. Of course they were, who wouldn’t be? Jack understood this feeling long ago every time he went to a promotion interview. He smiled. “Don&

Chapter 137: Betrayal

Matthew, Rose and Cecilia were being dragged by a group of armed knights. Their heads were covered with black bags to hide their faces as they were escorted to somewhere else. After some time, they stopped and were forced to kneel on the ground and their bags were finally taken off their heads. They were surrounded by knights and also Hunters who were also armed as if they were about to go on a quest. Walls also surrounded the entire area and there were a few small buildings not far from them. “Where are we?” Matthew’s question was not directed to anyone. He saw the scared look on Cecilia’s face while Rose seemed more nervous than scared. He wanted to ask her what was on her mind, but he didn’t when the crowd started opening up in front of them. A man in black armour strode forth until he was in front of them and stopped. Harold, the Black Knight, carefully watched the faces of the three kne
