Chapter 61

King Jonas             “Thank you for the update.” I purred into the receiver.            My idiotic nephew had managed to get himself captured along with one of his pathetic assassins. My spy within the Dark Moon pack had done her job, ensuring they wouldn’t talk, and the pack couldn’t get their hands on any of their tools. The fool would need to find his own way out of the mess he had landed himself in, though it would be best for him if the pack killed him before I could get my hands on him. My spy was proving to be the only useful wolf in my entire kingdom.            “Summon the guild handlers!” I yelled to no one in particular. The wolves standing guard in the hallway scrambled to enact my orders. With my nephew proving to be as u

Chapter 62

Fenrick            ‘Meet me at my apartment.’ Alistair’s voice came through the mind link.            I finished my cooldown with the pack group I had opted to train with and made my way to meet him at his small apartment. He ushered me inside in silence, guiding me to take a seat on the couch.            “What’s up boss?” I asked, curious why he had called me to meet him.            “How much do you know about the Alpha’s mistress?”            “Maggie? I was under the impression she was his chosen mate. I know she’s from Cerathe, has a few kids, but that’s about it.”            “She seems to have

Chapter 63

Selene             After I had my family settled into Lucas’s home, I headed to the other side of town. My mother had insisted on going with, unwilling to let me out of her sight unless she absolutely had to. The first part of our drive passed in silence, my mother staring at me as she moved her hand as if to take mine before quickly placing it back in her lap.            “I should have listened to you.” She whispered, finally breaking the silence. “Maybe if I hadn’t tried to force my own desires on you, you wouldn’t have ended up being attacked and killed.”            “It’s ok, mom.” I smiled, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. “I was hard-headed and wrong.”        &

Chapter 64

Victoria            I thrashed around wildly, snaping and snarling at the small man that had stabbed me. The silver dagger in my side burned like an inferno. I needed to get it out, but first I needed to disable my attacker. Fear permeated the air, the man no longer able to cover his scent as my jaws finally closed around his leg. Using the last of my waning strength, I whipped my head hard, slamming him against a nearby tree. His body stilled and I limped toward him. He was unconscious.            ‘We have to get the knife out’. Honi demanded. ‘We can’t heal until it’s out.’            ‘I can’t shift with it in. If I do, it could hit something vital.’            ‘I’m going to try something. I need

Chapter 65

Lucas             I woke to the sound of the alarm blaring, Selene curled into my side. I had managed to convince her to stay the night, both of us in need of the other. With a groan, she rolled away, stretching like a cat.            “Good morning.” I chuckled, taking in the sight of her in a tank top and shorts as the blanket slipped from her body.            “What time is it?”            “Four thirty.” I responded, shifting to turn off the alarm.            “Ugh, I’m late.” She groaned. “I should have been on the training pitch an hour ago.”       &nb

Chapter 66

EJ             “Well, hello gorgeous.” I grinned, making a kissing motion toward Selene as she strolled into the dungeon, her Alpha close behind her. “Your people brought me aa new friend last night. Was a little surprised to see a medic in these cells, but what do I know?”            “It is getting a little crowded in here.” Selene responded. “If you behave, maybe we can give you some more comfortable accommodations.”            “Give him the serum.” The alpha ordered.            Selene tossed me a small vial of milky white liquid.            “Drink it.” She grunted.  &nb

Chapter 67

Zane            “Guys, be serious for a minute. We need to get this place in tip top shape before Alpha Lauren’s prisoner arrives.”            “Whatever you say Luna Zane.” Chuckled one of the pack warriors helping get the old prison back in order.            I rolled my eyes and shooed him away, getting back to work myself. I had long been used to the jokes that I was Lucas’s Luna. Being his Beta meant I took on quite a bit of the Luna work until he found one. I had hoped that he would name Maggie, but when his actual mate turned up still alive and kicking, that threw a wrench in things. I didn’t care which woman he chose, they both brought something to the table, I just wished he would hurry up and chose. I had my own duties to focus on.  &n

Chapter 68

Rory             The pack hospital was oddly busy. There hadn’t been another large influx of refugees, but patient visits were almost back-to-back. I knew some of my frustration was wanting to return to my mate. The night before had been incredible. My hand brushed over my new mark as the memory of Victoria, and I entwined came flooding back.            “Earth to Doctor Stevens.” One of the nurses laughed, snapping her fingers in front of my face. “You might want to stop daydreaming about whatever you’re daydreaming about, you’re getting a little flushed, if you know what I mean.”            “Sorry.” I laughed. “I’ll try. Do you know where the Andrews file is? I actually popped out to grab it, it wasn’t in the cub

Chapter 69

Lucas             I rolled over to find my mate had gone. Her side of the bed was cool, though her scent still lingered. A glance at the clock on the nightstand told me she must have left before dawn for training without waking me. I pulled myself from the bed, the sounds of children racing through the halls greeting me as I stretched out my stiff muscles.            I chuckled to myself as I heard Abigail scold the girls about waking me, before pulling on a t-shirt to make my way out of my room. I had slept shirtless, with just my plaid pajama bottoms and I wasn’t sure Selene’s brother would be appreciative of me strolling bare chested through the house.            “Good morning.” I grinned down at the twin girls who had been causing the ruckus moments before.

Chapter 70

Selene            Lucas stared at me dumbfounded, not saying a word. I was beginning to think he hadn’t registered what I had said.            “Lucas? Did you hear what I said?” I asked gently.            “Maggie’s pregnant.” His response was robotic, as if he were answering on autopilot.            “Yes.”            “No. She – She wouldn’t. Not with my child, she wouldn’t run, not carrying my pup.” He stammered.            “I think she ran because of me.” I whispered.            Lucas roared, grabbing the nearest thing to him, and shattering it
