Chapter 11

“I know the truth,” Mrs. Chaplin repeated.“I-I…” Violet said, her eyes still wide. What could she say? She had to say something, anything if she hoped to stop the governess from turning her into the alpha. “I can explain. Please, just let me explain.”

Chapter 12

Never before had a shower felt so good, Violet thought as she dried her now chicken free hair. Stepping out of the bathroom, she saw Mia standing by her room. “It’s not time to go back already, is it?” She tried to keep the horror of that thought out of her voice, but the way Mia laughed, she didn’t think she was successful.

Chapter 13

We went into the house, but instead of going to the kitchen, Mia took me to the servant’s area. With a glance down either side of the hallway, she ushered me into the common room. With yet another glance, Mia said, “You need to be careful, Violet.”“What do you mean? Because of that girl?

Chapter 14

Violet managed to get a few hours of sleep before the alarm on her phone woke her up. Still feeling exhausted, she dragged herself into the shower. The water did little to wake her up, but it helped washed the fear of her nightmares away. Downing another horrid drink of those Jeremy gave her, Violet went to the kitchens. As soon as she walked in -- looked at her in surprise.

Chapter 15

After logging out of everything and doing all that she knew of to cover her tracks, which wasn’t a whole lot, Violet left the common room. Despite that it may have been colossally stupid, Violet was glad she did it.  Where parents would have the grieving they deserved. Her stomach rumbled, announcing

Chapter 16

Thanks to the run-in with Emily, the rest of Violet’s weekend was ruined. No matter how Violet thought about it, she had no idea how to defuse the ambitious werewolf. It was all so stupid that if she thought about it longer than three seconds, she became furious. All the real problems in her life and this stupid girl has to throw a ‘mean girls’ themed drama.

Chapter 18

After breakfast, Mia and Violet helped clean the dishes and prepare everything for lunch. Thankfully, lunch was easier than breakfast. There were only a few people who had stayed in to eat, though Mia told Violet dinner was usually the meal with the most attendance, and that’s the one the alpha tended to attend almost always. Knowing what she was doing, more or less, now Violet wasn’t as nervous as she was that morning.

Chapter 19

Once again, the alpha wasn’t at breakfast and Nolan hadn’t seen him all morning. It had to be on purpose. He knew the alpha was going to speak with New Girl yesterday, but of course, Frank hadn’t come to see him afterward. Yanking Nolan’s chain as the alpha loved to do.  He liked to claim it was to prepare Nolan to be an alpha. People tried to get under his skin all the time. It was a good try, but Nolan knew the truth. The alpha simply enjoyed messing with him. Honestly, Nolan didn’t usually mind. He was sure if his father was still alive, he’d do the same, and the alpha had tried to fill the void his father left

Chapter 20

The next morning, Violet left her room to met with Mia. The conversation with the alpha yesterday was always at the forefront of her mind. To say the least, it had left her unsettled. First, what was Nolan’s deal? Why insult her then go and defend her? Secondly, the alpha wasn’t at all like Violet expected him and she was having a hard time picturing him as the cruel dictator Jeremy had described him.  The only explanation Violet could come up with is she was seeing him from the inside, where he thought his hold of power was safe.
