Prologue

The howling wind did nothing to calm her nervousness. Veronica was so exited to see Asriel Parker again but her excitement came with extreme nervousness. She stopped looking at her reflection in the mirror to stare at the little picture of Asriel Parker that she had taped to the corner of her mirror from a magazine.He was in a grey t-shirt and had his hands in the pockets of his black jeans. He was talking to someone on his left but Veronica had cropped the other parts of the picture and couldn't remember who the other person was. His grey eyes were always intense and he had a habit of running his hands through his hair. His handsome face only added to the fame he already had as a businessman and a major share holder in some other companies. His fraternal twin brother was just as successful and his younger sister just as him, but those other two didn't get Veronica's heart racing when they glanced at her or smiled at her.

Chapter one

Selena March groaned when she heard the strange annoying sound coming from her desk next to her bed. "Morning already?" She mumbled half asleep, subconsciously reaching out her hand towards her desk to stop the alarm. She pressed the alarm but the ringing persisted, annoying her. The ringing stopped and she smiled in satisfaction and turned her body to get more comfortable and go back to sleep.Just as she was about to drift off to her sweet sleep, the ringing started again and it was annoying her. She sat up angrily, getting ready to pick up the blasted piece of crap called an alarm clock but stopped, her hand mid way between her body and the alarm that wasn't ringing. Her eyes landed on her cell phone that was next to the alarm, ringing loudly. It was then that she glanced at the time on her clock.02:16

Asriel Parker had mixed feelings about the situation he had found himself in once again. He was in an interrogation cube with mirrors as it's walls. The fact that he was getting used to the ugly wooden chair he was seated on and the creaky table that had a recording machine on it was doing nothing to comfort him. He sighed. It was neither the first nor the second time that he was in such a situation. Heck, it was not the third or the fourth or the fifth time either.It was the sixth time and he was tired of all of it.He was tired of being the first one to walk in on a bloodless, hairless dead woman with a gruesome number burn on her abdomen and two bullet holes in the head.He was tired of being the one to call the cops with shaking hands and narrate the same son story over and over again, the only difference being the names.He was tired of losing som

Chapter Three

Selena paid the taxi driver and thanked him for his services before getting out of the car, more like dragging herself actually and walked to the stairs of her house. Luckily for her, it was already unlocked and that meant that her house mate was already up.Selena lived her her closest and best friend Gina Michaels. Gina was also a cop and she mainly dealt with the drug enforcement department of the police station. The two worked at different stations. They had been friends since middle school but separated from each other when they went to different highschools. Selena walked into the police station and spotted Darral. He was sleeping soundly at the back of the room on the receptionist's desk, his brown hair falling on his handsome face and his hands crossed to make a pillow. He had changed his clothes and decided to come back to work despite Owen's obvious insistence that he stay home.Selena smiled to herself when she noticed some female cops secretly checking him out. One woman who had obviously come to file a complaint was shamelessly ogling him instead of paying attention to what the man in front of her was saying. Selena looked at Darral again whilst walking towards him. She didn't care about the women watching him sleep or the fact that they were suddenly glaring at her, it was their own creepyness to deal with _ she just wanted the recording of the interrogation. Knowing Darral, he probably didn't even let Andrew speak.

Selena sighed for the tenth time in the taxi that she was riding. She looked outside and just stared at the surroundings blurring by. She was still confused as to why she had accepted Owen, Andrew and Darral's request.Andrew was really smart and he was the best analyst they had in their force but despite that, Andrew agreed with Darral's dumb idea. Selena didn't believe that Asriel Parker was guilty as Darral, Andrew and Owen did.But putting Darral's points into consideration and stating Asriel Parker as the killer, it was possible.It could be that Asriel was just putting himself as the victim just so that he would be removed from the culprit list and he probably didn't flee the country because it would be suspicious. Selena looked at piece of paper in her hands; the resume that Darral had written for her and given her earlier that morning. Since she didn't have time to read it, she still had no idea of what was written in it. She then looked at the tall building in front of her. She was feeling uneasy about Owen, Andrew and Darral's idea but she had already agreed to do it and there was noway she was backing out of it. Selena March was not one to back out of anything that she had agreed to do, especially a task that would most likely put her in Interpol.With her dreams of Interpol in mind, she walked into the ten storey building in front of her; The manufacturing company known as Gratia Plena. It was a very famous manufacturing company and it offered legal advice as well. A lot of products from the super market were either from Gratia Plena or Timmy's. Selena silently thanked Wanda for her help _ even if Wanda didn't know that she had helped Selena. Earlier, when Wanda was apologizing she had blabbed about how she lived being on the top most floor with Asriel and Asaiah. In the elevator, the highest number was the one for the eleventh floor and since Ataliah had told her that she should ask for Asaiah's office on that floor, she could easily conclude that that was where Asriel's office was as well.The doors opened when she got to the floor. The lady who had identified herself as Selena March smiled victoriously as she walked out of his office. Asriel could basically hear her humming happily. He sat down and smiled to himself_ he could not help but find her determination and wit attractive.
