Chapter 1 [4-4]

I sighed, a little confused about how the conversation started and was glad to drop the topic. “I’m going to change the subject. So, our anniversary is coming up, and I was thinking about asking Elliot if he wants to go on a trip together during the summer… He would say yes, but he’s been so busy lately that I’m not sure if that is a good idea.” “You went out of town with him before, right?” Brian asked. “Yeah, but with my mom and we slept in separate beds. It’ll be my first trip going somewhere alone with him, and we were supposed to do it last year after my graduation, but he was too busy working and he’s busy looking for an apartment now. Would that be too much to ask him?” I expressed, feeling a little shy about my idea. “Well, ask him, and I’m sure he’ll make time for you. There’s no shame to want to spend private time with your boyfriend,” Luis commented. “I did that with a girl I went out with, but it was for a whole weekend get-away, and she enjoyed it,” Fernando said.

Chapter 2 [1-2]

Chapter 2 “Mom, you don’t have to take me today,” I said, grabbing my backpack from the couch. “I’m going to take the bus.” “But that is a very long ride.” She said, watching me. “I can just take you in my car.” “You're already late to work and I’m not in a rush. Besides, I’m going to the library first before my class.” I said, checking my wallet for change then took a deep breath turning to her. “Doctor Brown always said that I need to get adjusted to doing things myself, and I’m trying to do that. I haven’t been on the bus this whole month and I need to get back to doing that again.” “I know.” She said, reaching out to hug me. “I forget that you're not a little kid anymore.” “Mom,” I whined and hugged her back. She lets me go, trying to give me a supporting smile. “Alright. Just text me if you need me to pick you up later. Your last class ends at six, right?” I nod, making my way to the front door. “I’ll let you know once I’m out.” “Be careful crossing the streets.” “Bye, M

Chapter 2 [2-2]

“I’ve been feeling like that because school has been stressful for me and I try to not get depressed by how I feel. I’ve tried explaining it to Elliot, but sometimes I feel like he doesn’t understand what I’m saying and he wants to give me these solutions that aren’t the point of why I’m feeling like this.”Luis watched me before pushing his notebook to the side, “So then you tell me. Let me hear about it and I can tell you how I view it.”I looked back at him before sitting up straight and finding any words to explain it to him. “Well, when I applied I put myself as undecided for my major so now the counselor wants me to pick before the end of the semester and my credit could be reflected if I want to transfer or have trouble selecting next semester's courses. But Elliot said that I don’t have to worry about it and if I can’t decide on a major then I can take a year off.” I explained to him.“Taking a year off is risky,” Luis commented. “With your anxiety, I’m sure it’ll be harder to

Chapter 3 [1-4]

Chapter 3 My week went by fast after I had my test on Wednesday and when Saturday arrived I was sitting in my room waiting for Elliot to pick me up. I looked over the notebook that I used to write in under Doctor Brown's instructions, but it’s been a few months now since I’ve written an entry and I wondered if I should continue it. It wasn’t necessary for me to continue, but it honestly helped ground myself and I remember the nights I’d spend writing when I couldn’t sleep. The reason I stopped writing was that the first semester was stressful and took most of my energy trying to focus. Doctor Brown has asked me to bring in my journal and feels like it was fine to get back to it when it’s needed. I brushed my fingers over the pages when I heard my phone ring and I set the book to the side. “Hey,” I answered after seeing Elliot’s name on the caller ID. "I'm here." He tells me. "I had to park inside the driveway. There was nowhere else for me to park. I hope your mom is okay taking he

Chapter 3 [2-4]

Lily insisted that she’ll feed Ally after I informed her that Ally woke up and had Elliot and I grab plates to serve ourselves. Dad sat down while we ate then Lily joined us with Ally and I reached out to take Ally so Lily could eat. It was a nice day, having dinner outside on the patio and being able to catch up on things that have been going on. Elliot talked about his time at his university college and living there, and I brought up the courses that I’m taking now. After a while, we made our way inside, and my dad took Ally to change her diaper. I watched Dad holding Ally, smiling down at something that seemed so precious, and I can tell that she means the world to him. I glanced outside trying to push away those feelings like jealousy or maybe envious and turned back to him. “I’m happy for you, Dad. Married again and having Ally has been good for you. She's almost a year old now, and she's grown so much.” I told him. “It is great having another child around.” He said, glancing o

Chapter 3 [3-4]

I didn’t have much to respond during the drive, and it took some time to arrive at my house with the evening traffic. Elliot has always been supportive during my progress when I had to select a college in high school, but there are times where I felt like he can’t always be there all the time anymore and everyone else has been busy as well that we haven’t had the chance to see each other. We arrived at my house and I felt myself taking a deep breath deciding to break this silence between us. “I know that this really shouldn’t bother me and I don’t have to push myself to find work, but I just don’t want to let my parents down… I don’t want to fail. I don’t want to take a break from college because that would be like I’m setting myself back and if I don’t work then my dad would think that I can’t handle being an adult.” “Michael, this is about you. Not them. I know you want to make them happy, but if this makes you upset then you are not doing what will make you happy.” Elliot said, r

Chapter 4 [1-3]

On Wednesday, I received my test results and it seemed that my score still hasn't been approved as I hoped. I looked down at the card that Lucas gave me, the strange guy with the motorcycle, and I wondered if it was okay to reach out to him. It’s been a while since Luis has contacted me and I also don’t want to bother Elliot with this, but it seems like these tutoring sessions were always helpful for me. I sighed heavily as I pulled out my phone to send him a message, curious to see what he’d say, and I headed to my next class. I looked over my notes once class was over when I saw there was a new message and I checked to see that Lucas was available at the library in three hours.I wasn’t really expecting a quick response and to meet the same day as well. I haven’t seen him since he gave me his number, but maybe taking this chance can help me and even raise my grade. I sent a message to my mom letting her know that I’ll be a bit late going home and informed her about my plans. I only

Chapter 4 [2-3]

I glanced at everyone before turning to Andre and asked, “Aside from Genevieve and Eliane, is everyone gay?”“I am gay and I created the group,” Andre answered. “Lucas is bisexual and helped create the support group so without him it wouldn’t be as amazing as it is now. Leo is straight, but he comes with us for free food and tries to get all sorts of people to come to the meeting. I mean, look at his body… Then there are my fabulous ladies that are members, and help interact in the meetings.”“You guys bring sandwiches and I get hungry after working out before I go to the club,” Leo shrugs his shoulders.I looked at them all and asked curiously, “What do you guys do in the club?”“Support group,” Andre retorts.“It depends. We decide on a topic for that day or any type of event we want to hold. Fundraisers to help us attend parades and show that we have a safe place for people to hang out,” Lucas explained, reaching for a notebook from his backpack and then turning to me like he had a

Chapter 4 [3-3]

Half of the group were focused on their studies and the others were playing around, trying not to be so loud. Lucas continued to help me out with a few problems once he was done with his own homework and Genevieve even stepped in wanting to be involved. After almost two hours we started making our way out of the library and you can feel the cool evening air. I looked around at everyone as we all walked over to the parking garage and I wondered if they were being kind in inviting me after agreeing that I’d attend their meeting. “Michael, you can come with me in my car,” Lucas said and Andre was beside him. “The girls have their own car and so does Leo. Unless you want to ride with them?” “I don’t know about riding a motorcycle,” I confessed. “It’s fine. I bought my Jeep,” He said, stopping at his trail to wait for me to follow. “Andre is coming with us.” “My car is in the shop,” Andre informed me. “I’m without a car for the whole week and I’ll be Lucas' road-trip buddy.” Lucas gav

Flashback: Graduation

I was leaning against Elliot while we were sitting on my bed and I’ve spent the last ten minutes looking at the black gown that I bought at school earlier today. I’m trying to let the thoughts sink in that I will finally be graduating high school within a few days and will be starting college in a few months. Elliot has his arm wrapped around my shoulder as he’s watching me and it seems like he’s trying to read my expression. He’s been home since last week after finishing exams and has been visiting me at my home after school. Elliot put a hand over mine to pull me away from my thoughts and softly kissed the side of my cheeks. I closed my eyes as I remind myself to take a deep breath and lean against his warmth.“Are you okay? Can you tell me what you're thinking?” He asked me.“I’m going to graduate,” I tell him like I’m stating a fact that is unheard of.“You are,” He agreed.I let out a heavy sigh and shifted to face him. “I’m going to graduate,” I repeated.Elliot looked back at h
