After the police were done taking Liana's statement, a burning hatred took over him. "We can never judge someone just by how they look.

"It's tough to imagine a young woman about to start university could be involved in something like this. Go check out everywhere Roxanne went before the accident!"

It didn't take the cops long to figure out where she'd been. Sure enough, Roxanne had been at a bar that night and definitely had a few too many.

With the proof staring her in the face, Roxanne finally broke down.

She cried and pleaded, "Ms. Sorrel, please! I'm begging you! Please let me off this one time for my dad! I'll never do something like this again!"

I gave her a dead stare like she wasn't even alive anymore.

"Let you off?" I snorted. "If you'd called an ambulance right away that night, Cyril might still be here. And now you're asking me to let you off? In your dreams!"
