Chapter 4

Winnie recognized the body as mine immediately.

There was a small tattoo on the back of my hand. It was initially a burn scar I got while cooking when Winnie and I lived together. After it healed, it left a raised mark shaped like a tiny flower, so I decided to get a flower tattoo over it. Though decayed now, the tattoo was still visible.

My fingertips, however…

Winnie's heart twisted in agony. All my fingernails had been pulled out, my bones broken inch by inch. I was hanging from a pillar, wrists drooping at odd angles.

My body was riddled with wounds, and there was a bloody hole in my abdomen, as if something had been taken from inside.

The scene was littered with branding irons and nails. The floor was stained with dried blood splatters as well.

Unable to bear the sight, Winnie ran toward me, sobbing. "Catherina! I knew it. You would never steal company secrets!
