Chapter 1

I sliced through Jenny Johnson's apartment with a chainsaw with my wedding dress on and found Ken Chapman holding her in his arms inside.

We had an extravagant wedding in the morning, but the moment Jenny threatened suicide, Ken abandoned me on our wedding night to go see her and even ignored my calls.

"She's faking her depression, Ken. Can you come back with me now?"

I fought back the frustration. I turned off the chainsaw, tossed it aside, and showed him a video.

In the video, Jenny's so-called therapist admitted that she paid him to fake her diagnosis, and her antidepressants were nothing but vitamins.

Ken barely glanced at it, accusing me of smearing his beloved's reputation.

"Mayson, don't twist things because you're jealous of Jenny," he said.

My eyes stung, and I could barely hold back tears. "Do you even remember we just got married today?"

Ken sighed. "I know this is hard for you, but Jenny has severe depression. She loves me, and if I leave her, she might actually kill herself. You can't just let her die, can you?"

He sighed again and reached out, as if to touch my head.

However, Jenny teared up and stopped him. "I'll feel dirty and uncomfortable if you touch her, Ken."

Ken withdrew his hand instantly. He sat down, held her close and replied, "Alright, alright, anything for my little jealous one."

"Don't kiss her or sleep with her even if I'm not around. It makes me sick."

"Alright, alright. Whatever you want."

Watching them flirt made my heart sink deeper.

I had been admired by countless boys since high school, with love letters piling up my trash bin.

However, I was an orphan, and love seemed immature to me. I just wanted to do well in school, earn scholarships, and scrape by on whatever I could save.

When Ken confessed to me, I did not even look at him as I turned him down.

Things changed when a bunch of gangsters tried to assault me. Ken saved me when they ripped off my clothes and pinned me down. He broke a few ribs and a leg in the fight, leaving him in the hospital for months.

It was the first time I felt love ever since my parents died.

He was bursting with joy when I agreed to be his girlfriend.

We had been together for ten years before his family finally approved of our relationship. I thought our struggles were over, but when his crush returned, I became nothing to him.

I put away my phone, swallowed my tears and declared, "Ken, I want a divorce."

Jenny looked at me in shock and said, "If you divorce him now, you'll make everyone think I broke up your marriage! Is that what you want?"

She started to cry again, pushing Ken away and pulling a fruit knife from the drawer, holding it against her neck.

"Fine! I'll die right now and leave Ken for good. Is that what you want?"

Ken rushed over, grabbed the knife and threw it toward me. He shouted furiously, "Enough, Mayson! If anything happens to Jenny, you'll pay with your life!"

The knife nicked my neck, leaving a deep cut as blood trickled down.

My neck was injured, but somehow, my heart ached even more.

Ken grew nervous as he saw the blood and hurried over, trying to check my wound.

"Mayson, are you okay? I didn't mean—"

Smack!

I slapped him hard, meeting his stunned gaze.

"Ken, we're done."
