Chapter 2

Ken quivered as he tried to say something, but when Jenny started crying, he dropped everything to console her.

I ran to the hospital alone to get my wound bandaged. My wedding dress was stained with blood.

I was not exactly alone. I ran into Tim Harris on the way, and he insisted on accompanying me.

"How could Ken be so rough? I can't stand what Ken did, even though he's my best friend. I'd treat you like a queen if you were my wife. There's no way I'd cheat on you multiple times and hurt you for another woman."

The Harris family was a top-tier family. People often said Tim had a foul temper and a sharp tongue. However, he was the only one who showed me any kindness within Ken's social circle.

I trembled and asked, "Multiple times?"

Tim looked conflicted.

"I don't want to badmouth my best friend behind his back, but I can't lie to you. When he missed your birthday and ignored you when you were sick, he was actually with Jenny."

I thought Ken had only changed after Jenny returned last month. It turned out that he had been cheating all along, but he covered it up with his acting.

"Are you okay?" Tim asked, gently taking my hand.

In the next moment, he flushed as he quickly let go and apologized, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. I'm really worried about you."

"I'm happy you care," I replied , realizing Tim had feelings for me.

I used to avoid him. However, I hesitated for only a moment this time before I held his hand playfully.

Tim was extremely nervous.

It was my first time flirting with someone else, and I felt a mix of guilt and nervousness, so I avoided his eyes.

After getting my wound treated, I went back to Ken's place to pack up.

Tim sent me there. Before he left, he apologized profusely. "Ken only thought of himself, but I don't. If you ever need to talk or help, you can always reach out to me."

I packed up my stuff, took off my wedding ring, signed the divorce papers, and left them on the table.

I left with my suitcase. The maid could not stop me and frantically called Ken, but he did not take it seriously. He was sure I wouldn't leave him.

Ken suspended my role at the company. A major deal I worked hard for was given to Jenny with just a word from him.

He sent me a casual message.

[You're too competent and it stresses Jenny out. Take a break from work. Behave yourself, and I promise you'll always be Mrs. Chapman.]

I wanted a home, but not one with someone unworthy. I couldn't wait any longer to divorce Ken. But before he did, his friends were already discussing in a group chat about all the things he did for Jenny.

He donated 4.5 million dollars in her name for her well-being, bought out every flower in the city because she whimsically wanted a flower castle, and worked tirelessly to craft a diamond ring for her because she envied the sincere one on my finger.

I was disgusted and went to find Ken, but his assistant replied he was on a business trip.

I called him, and he answered with a sigh.

"I used to love Jenny, but now, I just feel sorry for her. You don't need to be jealous of her or divorce me because of this. Didn't you always want to support the orphanage you lived in? I donated 30,000 dollars to them. Please calm down."

Ken said he had a meeting and hung up promptly.

Shortly after, Jenny sent me a picture of Ken in the hotel bathroom with a message attached.

[He said he's happier with me and that he'd die happy with me.]

Even though I knew Ken had crossed the line, seeing that picture left my mind reeling.

After a brief moment, I took screenshots of our conversation and sent them to all our mutual friends and posted them online. Then, I called Tim and asked him to meet me at a hotel.

If Ken liked playing the cheating game, I would give him a taste of his own medicine.

Tim arrived quickly, seemingly having taken extra care with his appearance. He had even showered and asked, "Wouldn't it be bad if Ken found out and misunderstood?"

"It won't be a misunderstanding if we did," I replied as I tiptoed to kiss him.

I flirted skillfully, but I got cold feet when we were about to get intimate. I pressed myself against Tim's chest and tried to stand up.

He followed and wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, chuckling as he pinned me against the table.

"So, this is how you like it."
