Chapter 5: Beginning of Destruction

I like my job, this is my first time working and I find it quite fun, even though I have to go home late but now I know what it's like to be a Hunter with his hectic problem.

During a month of working with Darren, I began to understand how he works, and what he does all day, not only because I am his assistant, but because there are not many things he does personally, the time he spends in one day is just meeting with many clients for his business.

He also rarely talks to me, Darren talks more often to his younger brother, Leo.

This morning as usual, I came to the office with two coffees in my hand, one for me and one for Darren, he never asked for it but I always bought coffee for him, not to bribe him to treat me well but I felt he needed it.

Seeing how busy he is every day reminds me of Hunter, he never complains but his face can't lie if he's tired and I just want to give the best as his assistant.

"Morning, sir," I said as I entered his room, and as usual, he was there with a pile of files on his desk and his computer on.

"Morning," Darren said, his voice sounded faint but that's how he was, he didn't even look at me when he answered.

"Here's your coffee, sir, and I've sent you the meeting schedule for today in your email," I said.

"Thanks," Darren said and I returned to my desk.

I don't have a room like the others, my work desk is right in front of his room, and Leo often stops by my work desk to say hello and accompany me in conversation since he knows I don't have anyone to talk to.

That's right, I even bring lunch every day to save money and another reason, of course, is because I don't have any friends there, besides, my schedule is as busy as Darren's, so I can't make friends with anyone there apart from Leo.

"Morning Olivia," Leo greeted as I left Darren's room.

"Morning, Leo," I said and he came over to me.

"You've been working here for a month, how does it feel to be an assistant to a cold Alpha like him?" Leo said.

"I like my job, maybe because this is new for me and he doesn't make my job difficult apart from keeping me in the office longer," I said.

"That's good, you also have to prepare yourself if he asks you to accompany him out of town on business," Leo said.

“Oh, do I have to do it too? I mean, accompanying him out of town,” I said.

"Of course, that's your job, maybe starting next month you will often go out of town with him, he has to promote the latest products and look for lots of partners to become sponsors," Leo said.

I didn't say anything after hearing that, Leo went back to his room and that meant I had to start my day too.

This urgency is not only felt at Darren's Company, but it also happens to Hunter, recently he has become very frustrated because many problems are occurring at his company. It was because he was too busy with Emily that his concentration was diverted and made all his work a mess.

Hunter even ignored his father's orders to come to his house. Maybe if Hunter had come and talked to his father about how his company was developing, everything would be easier for him now.

"Billy, cancel all meetings today, I have something to take care of at home, I have to go back now," Hunter said to his assistant.

"But today's meeting is related to our company collaboration, sir, and what if they cancel the collaboration plan?" Billy said.

"That's my business, I have to go," Hunter left in a hurry since he received a call from Emily saying that she had stomach cramps.

Billy, who couldn't hold back his boss, could only shake his head because Hunter's performance had recently declined, as had his company's.

Without Hunter realizing it, he rejected many offers of collaboration because he was too focused on Emily and their baby, maybe this is the beginning of his downfall.

When he got home, Hunter immediately ran inside, he met Mia who was cleaning the living room.

"Mia, Where is Emily?" Hunter said.

"She's in her room, sir," Mia said and Hunter immediately went to his room, but Mia looked confused when she saw Hunter rush over to Emily as if something bad was happening.

But Hunter's worries were put to rest when he entered the room and saw Emily on the bed with a box of ice cream in her hand.

“Baby, you're here, I missed you,” Emily said.

"What are you doing?" Hunter said, he walked over to Emily and took the ice cream from her hand.

"What's wrong with you? That's my ice cream,” Emily said.

"Are you crazy? You contacted me and asked me to come home because your stomach was cramping and now I'm here just to watch you eat ice cream? Do you know I had to cancel all my important meetings today just for your bullshit!” Hunter said and threw the ice cream on the floor.

“You shouted at me? Do you think I'm ready to be pregnant like this? This is a mistake you made and you asked me to stay here, I'm not here for you to ignore, that's a consequence you have to accept, you have to pay attention to me and our baby," Emily said.

“How dare you say that to me? Do you think that just because the baby is in your stomach can't make me kick you out of here?" Hunter said and Emily fell silent.

The Omega thought she could bluff Hunter with her words but it turned out she was still an Omega who didn't have any strength to fight the Alpha.

"I'm sorry," Emily said, she tried to take Hunter's hand and tried to make his heart soften back to her.

"Let go of me, stay here, and don't call me if it's not urgent, or I'll kick you out of this place," Hunter pulled his hand from Emily and walked out of his room.

This made Emily very upset because at that moment she knew that she was only being used by the Alpha and that it wasn't her that Hunter was hoping for, but the baby she was carrying.
