Jennifer furrowed her brows. "What's wrong?"

Maxwell lowered his voice. "Have you forgotten what you promised me? Even if it's just an act, we need to show Grandpa we're a loving couple. We both agreed to take care of Grandpa here, so why are you sleeping somewhere else and leaving me alone here? What will Grandpa think?"

Jennifer stared hesitantly at the bed and whispered, "But this bed isn't big enough for two people."

A smile tugged at the corner of Maxwell's lips and he said solemnly, "We can squeeze in."

Jennifer bit her lip. She and Maxwell were already divorced. How could they sleep on the same bed? Even talking to him now felt awkward.

Maxwell suddenly leaned in and softly whispered, "Jennifer, I won't touch you. We'll just be sleeping, nothing else. Don't worry, okay?"
