Chapter 2:

“Good morning dear” said David coming down the stairs to the kitchen

“Good morning honey” responded Elizabeth while preparing breakfast

David sniffed something delicious

“Dear, what is this delightful smell?”

“Well since today is your birthday I thought that I might make your favorite” 

“OOOOH thank you” said David kissing Eliza’s cheek

-upstairs-

“Come on come on where are you? You stupid tie” Stephen mumbled to himself while looking for his tie, when his eyes caught a red color under his bed he quickly snatched it

“ah here you are” and he ran downstairs

-downstairs-

“This boy is gonna be late” stated David

“Well he should have woke up sooner”

“What can I say that boy is used to waking up late?’

“ah here we go again, you are taking their side again and never yours, you spoil them so much that’s why they are like that”

“so it's my fault?”

“Yes, you don’t even let me scold them” stated Eliza with a 'matter of fact' voice

Right at that moment, Stephen came downstairs while struggling to put on his tie

“Hey dad, can you help me with this?”

“of course, come here”

As David was fixing Stephen’s tie Eliza said “You know son, you look like a man in this suit”

“Good morning mum” said Stephen sarcastically

“Good morning” responded Eliza smugly

“There you go, done” announced David

“Thanks, dad”

“Open your mouth” said Eliza

“WHY? What are you gonna put in my mouth this time?” said Stephen with a horrified expression

“Just open it,” said Eliza losing her patience 

“Goodbye world” said Stephen dramatically as he opened his mouth and Eliza shoved a walnut in it

“agh, what was that for?”

“So that your brain will be open and activate”

“Mum I don't have a PSAT exam, I just found a job, and now I am going to work” said Stephen and started to go to the front door

“wait I made a sandwich for you” shouted David following Stephen

“Dad, come on, when have I ever ate breakfast?”

“but-“ David was cut off by the door slam and he just signed, not long after he heard a shout from upstairs

-upstairs-

“WHAAAAAT?!?!?!?, what do you mean by that? Oh my god, ok you know what I will be there in half an hour you guys start working on files until I get there” said Ruby jumping out of her bed as soon as the phone call ended and bolted out of her room

“good morning to yo-"

“Morning dad” said ruby fastly to her father cutting him off unintentionally and rushed to the bathroom

“ok?”

While Stephen was on his way, he saw his older brother Daniel coming back from his work.

Daniel is a doctor and he was returning from his night shift

“Good morning brother” said Stephen

Daniel looked at him strangely, wondering if he was hallucinating, because Stephen was up in 7:45 and dressed nicely in a suit, which wasn’t something you’d see every day

“Good morning” 

“How are you doing?”

Daniel didn’t answer and just continued to walk back home

“I am fine thanks for asking” said Stephen sarcastically

“Hey Ruby breakfast is ready downstairs”

“Okay dad” said rudy now dashing to her room

David just signed and turned to see that Daniel standing behind him

“oh son, you are back, how are you?”

“fine, you?”

“Good, did you come home right now?” 

“Unfortunately, my  boss making us stay extra shifts lately, I am so tired I feel like I am gonna die” mumbled David trying his best to stay awake 

“son don’t say that”

Right at that moment Ruby came out of her and ran to another room

“Sweetie did you eat hot pepper this morning?”

Ruby was panicking so much she didn’t hear her father

“Here we go again” said Daniel and when to the bathroom

“Now let's come back to son- eh?” David turned to where his son was a second ago and he wasn’t there, he went to the bathroom door and said “son when your wash your face come downstairs and eat breakfast”

“Dad please, I can't stomach anything I am just gonna go and sleep, my whole body hurts”

“Alright,… Oh Ruby-“

Ruby again rushed to her room and slammed the room and a couple of seconds later she opened the door 

“Dad, can you please call a taxi for me?”

“oh of course”

After she got almost ready she ran downstairs to wear her shoes and go

“wait, Rudy, here have this sandwich on the way”

“Dad I still haven’t got fully ready, I still have to do my make-up and hair on the way, I don’t think I am gonna have time to eat that”

“Ruby dear, aren’t you forgetting something?” said Eliza coming out of nowhere

“hmm now I don’t think so.. oh” 

Both David and Eliza were happy that at least their daughter remembers her father’s birthday

“Thanks, dad” said Ruby and kissed her father's cheek

“Alright I am going, bye mum bye dad”

“wait, take this with you,” said David 

“Have a good day” said Ruby and rode the taxi

“wow not even one of them remembered” said Eliza sarcastically

“come on dear don’t be like that”

“Anyways let's go eat Fritatta”

-with Stephen-

As he was walking to the bus stop he felt a tap on his shoulder and hear a female voice say “excuse me, sir”

He turned to her dumbfounded and asked “Are you talking to me?”

“No, I talking to that old man, of course, I am talking to you, why would I tap on your shoulder if I didn’t want to talk to you,” said the girl

Stephen looked at her annoyed and tried to walk away but the girl stopped him by standing in front of him and she continued  “can I ask aquestion?”

“you just did” 

“where is The Presidio park?”

“The Presidio park?”

“yes, it seems like the taxi I took, tricked me and now I am here, where I don’t know where I am”

“look, just take another taxi and ask him to get you there”

“but what if he drives me to another place?”

“he won't,” said Stephen annoyed

“but what if he did?”

“I am telling you HE WON'T” shouted Stephen

“and how would you know that? Do you know everyone in this city?” said the girl unfazed

Stephen took a deep breath “they won't, besides The Presidio park is near”

“Really? Then I will go by walk then”

“Well, it's not that near”

“Make a deisionn, is it near or not?”

“It,s far if you go by walking and near if you go by car,” said Stephen between his teeth

“But going by taxi costs so much”

“Then go by bus”

“Oh? Does the bus go there?”

“Yes”

“Then you should have said so sooner”

“…………..I feel pity for your family and friends” said Stephen genuinely feeling sorry for them  dealing with this girl, it has only been a couple of minutes and yet he is near to pulling his hair out and with that he ran to the bus stop and quickly rode the bus before it left, feeling relieved that now he escaped the girl, he sat down and  the person next to him said “hi, we meet again” when he turned he was mortified
