6: The Prodigy

"Hey June, it’s you right?"

June suddenly stopped walking together with the others when someone called his name. They turned back and saw three girls looking at them. The girl who called him was Emma Sutton. That made Kanaye frown.

He already knows who Emma is, or, to be honest, all of them. There are two other girls at his back: Ivy, who is looking at them boredly but also appears to be interested in what will happen.And also Mae, who is acting cute in front of June.

June slowly takes his earphones away from his ear to hear what she’s about to say.

" Yeah, why?" he asked while looking straight at Emma. The girl suddenly smiled when she saw how fearless the guy was. She’s actually wondering why her friend Mae likes the guy so much. But now she already knows why.

"Not bad, Mae. You really know the differences between guys, I like him too! " She said to herself and walked towards the guy.

Between herself and Mae, she knows how skillful her friend is in terms of identifying the guy’s characteristics. Mae likes discovery, especially exploring guys' characteristics, so she really knows how to manipulate and identify how different a guy is to others in just one glance. Emma felt jealous for a second.

Because, unlike her, she doesn’t have taste. Once she feels intrigued by someone, she will just go with him. But June is different. He is not that attractive or interesting the way he looks.

Everyone was just looking at them when she stopped in front of him.

" I drop this," she whispered in his ear while giving him his handkerchief with his name stitched on it.

He immediately took it to his pocket.

"Thank you," he simply answered, then looked back, uninterested in Emma. With his friends, he walks away just like that without looking back. She smiled in disbelief.

‘I didn’t know you were like this, June Smith.’

Meanwhile, Kanaye immediately went beside his friend.

"What the heck, man, do you know her?" he asked in disbelief.

"No, how would I know her?" he said while looking for his cellphone inside his bag.

"Ehh? Really? But she seems so interested in you! " he said, waving his hands in the air.

"Yeah, she seductively talked to you earlier," Aki said while looking at him. June looked at them innocently.

"Is that so?" he asked. Kanaye’s brow raised for a bit after hearing his friend and remembered how uninterested the guy was with girls. Both of them really differ in terms of how they treat women.

If Kanaye is a gentleman, then June is a cold man.

"Haist, why did I even bother to ask him like that?" he asked himself while his hands were on his forehead. He just remembered that his friend is not a simp. Not like him, who is easily tempted by girls, especially by the likes of Emma.

They just continued walking after that and went to the cafeteria. They just finished their afternoon class, and they will just have their last class after lunch.

Kanaye and Aki went to the counter as soon as they stepped inside the cafeteria to order their food. While Amelia and June went to the empty table and waited for the others. There are so many available seats in the cafeteria because most of the students like to eat outside or on the rooftop of the building.

Amelia sits properly while looking around the cafeteria while June takes his earphones while peacefully listening to his music. Suddenly, Amelia notices something.

"Hey," she called to June. He immediately looked at her and turned his back to the direction she was pouting.

"You know him right?'" she asked.

"Hmm?" he asked, looking at the man she was referring to.

"Not really, but I talked to him more than once. And so?" he asked.

"Is he really that weird?" she asked, while her brows were rising from curiosity. June looked at him intently, trying to figure out what she meant. Raia, the guy from the last time they cleaned the room, is pretending to be holding a book while constantly looking at every person in this cafeteria. He looked at every staff member, students, and teachers that were walking inside and out of the room .

Suddenly, their eyes met, and only June could say how weird it was, as if he was trying to say something. Their eyes were locked on each other, and even Amelia got curious about it. It takes them half a minute before Raia takes his eye off June and looks away.

June got curious about it. He was about to ask Amelia when the other two had already arrived. He just remained silent and ate with them. While they were eating, a strange noise suddenly entered the cafeteria.

"Yeah, oh well... I just like him, for real!" a girl exclaimed as she walked into the cafeteria.

"I know, right? Besides, it’s Osamu! We were walking about. He is not a prodigy for nothing," another girl said, with her casual look.

They walked towards the counter while still talking about that guy. 

"Osamu?" Kanaye asked while chewing his food.

"Maybe Osamu Hiromi," Aki said while still looking at the girls. Kanaye and others looked at her.

"You know that guy? Osamu Hiromi? " Kanaye asked her.

"Huh? Eh...I just heard his name somewhere before. He’s a student from the east, and they said that he’s somewhat of a child prodigy. He is known because of his talent in designing that attracts many big companies, even at a very young age. Maybe that’s why he's been invited to this school as well," he commented while looking at his plate.

"Prodigy, you say..." June said this while constantly eating his food.They remained silent after talking about that. Meanwhile, a group of friends were laughing in the hallway when someone bumped into them.

"HAHAHA, as if you can do it, Dae Ming!" Everett said, while sticking his tongue out. All of them laugh after they see how frustrated Dae is.

"Arghh! Just like what I said, I can do it! Just see, she will be mine after a day," he boasted to his friends.

His friends just laughed at him when someone from behind bumped into Dae’s back. All of them looked at the guy.

"I-I'm sorry," the guy apologised and walked away. They just bowed at him a little bit and let the guy pass by.

"Who is he?" Dae asked, curious.

Everybody shrugged their shoulders when they realised that Everett was kind of shocked.

" Everett, what’s wrong?" Rio asked him. Everybody looked at him.

"Are you sure you're serious?" Everett asked. "You don’t know him?" he added, shocked while his hands were on his head. 

"No…?" Dae answered, and even others just shrugged their heads.

"What the hell?!" he said, in disbelief. "You just bumped into a prodigy, man!" Everett said that shocked them all. 

"EHH??" Chan asked while his mouth was wide open, too stunned to speak. 

"What did you say?" Rio asked, looking intently at him. 

"Yeah!" he said, "I just know him because my cousin goes to the same school as him and they said that he is Osamu Hiromi, also known as the Filipino-Japanese prodigy!" he said to them.

They remained silent after that and couldn't even move for a while.

"A prodigy, huh?’ Rio said to himself. 

Meanwhile, after lunch, all of the students went back to their rooms to have their last class for today. They even waited for their next professor because today they would not be seeing Mr. Rayven as their teacher.

After a minute, someone approaches the room, holding some papers in her hands.

"Good morning, class!" the teacher said while smiling at them. The woman is most likely in her mid-30s with her short hair and eyeglasses. She’s wearing very sexy but at least decent a clothes for a teacher.

She smiled as she saw how many of her students were there.

"Good afternoon everyone. I am Ms. Sheena. You can call me Ma'am Sheen if you want," she introduced herself while smiling.

Emma clenched her fist when she remembered the first time she saw the teacher. She is the girl who is talking to Mr. Rayven last time. She didn’t even think that she would be her teacher today. 

She just glared at her, that the teacher immediately noticed, but decided to ignore. After a minute someone at the back of the class suddenly walked towards the front while his head was down. 

"Wait a minute... is he the—"

"No way."

"Osamu?"

Almost everyone was looking at him when he reached the little stage in front, where teachers usually stand when teaching.

"And I have here, Mr. Osamu, who will help us in discussing things related to the subject," she said while her hands were on Osamu’s shoulder.

She just smiled at them and let Osamu hold the discussion on the subject. No doubt. He’s a prodigy indeed. Everyone will tell you the same thing. He explains every point in a more detailed yet simplest way.

June looked at Osamu and saw how passionate he was about the subject. He frowned at him while looking at him. After a minute, he notices that someone is looking at him, so he looks at everyone. Accidentally, he met Raia’s eyes while intently looking at him. He raised his eyebrows at him.

"What the hell is his problem?" June asked himself while looking at him. He doesn’t even know why he feels like he’s talking to him using his eyes. After a minute, Raia himself takes his eyes off June.

Meanwhile, Raia, who just looked at June, wrote something on the paper. After the class, he immediately ran towards the locker room. Luckily, no one was there yet, so he freely looked for someone’s locker. He already saw it, so he immediately took the notes out of his pocket and slid them inside the locker room.

He even checked his watch before going outside the locker room. He pretended that nothing had happened when he saw someone walking towards the room. He’s not actually a socially inclined type of person, so the guy immediately buys it.

On the other hand, June and his friends immediately went outside the room after the class and walked towards the dormitory. They have no after-class, so they can rest for now. While they are walking, June notices that he left something in his locker room.

"Umm, I left my PE uniform in my locker room. I need to wash them now so I have something to wear tomorrow. I’ll just take it, " he said while looking at them. 

"Ah, o-okay," Kanaye said. After he turns his back on them, they immediately continue walking away, while June walks toward the room.

As he reached the room and opened his drawer, he saw a little paper with a letter written on it. It was slid over there as if someone had put it there. His brows are raised a little, wondering what it is. He just stretched his arm to reach it and read it. To his shock, she can even say who put the letter in his drawer.

"I knew this guy. There’s no way someone will just put this here," he said to himself.

He read the paper to find out what it meant.

He just blankly crumpled the paper and threw it in the trash. He doesn’t have any idea who the hell put the letter in there, but all he knows is that he has a clue about who he is.

"Is this really from you, Raia?" he said to himself while seriously looking at the door of his drawer. After a while, he closed his drawer and walked away from the locker room.

Meanwhile, he doesn’t have any idea that someone is hiding at the back of the locker room and saw him reading the letter inside his locker. She smiled for a bit, then walked away when June left the room.
