Raia's research goes on the days after Osamu's death. He can't afford to lose any more time. He read every possible clue, especially about the history of the school. He also tried to talk to the other personnel and staff on the campus. Of course, he stayed alert assuming that all of the personnel in the university are human-eating creatures like Mr. Rayven.
But after several attempts to gain new information, he got nothing.
He was walking at that time while holding a bunch of books that he borrowed from the library. He was about to take a left in the intersection of the dormitory when he suddenly bumped into someone.
All of the books fell down but he immediately took it back, trying not to expose the content of the books.
"Are you okay?" he heard someone ask.
"Y-yeah... I'm good," he answered. He slowly looked straight when he finally got all the books. It was Aki and June who bumped into him. When he saw the serious look from June, he immediately looked away and bid goodbye.
He slightly nodded before he left without any words. Aki started walking again when she noticed June looking at Raia.
"Hey, is there a problem?" Aki asked him.
"Go ahead, Aki. I'll catch up later," June answered before he left to follow Raia. Aki was left confused as she painted a big question mark on her face.
Meanwhile, Raia heard someone following him so he looked behind him. There, he saw June standing while seriously glaring at him.
"What is it?" Raia tried to look serious and avoid stuttering but his eyes can't look more real as he kept looking away from June.
"Where did you get that book?" June asked him pertaining to the books he was holding.
"H-huh? What do you mean? I borrowed this from the library," Raia replied then he held the books tighter.
June slowly approached him while keeping his eyes on Raia.
"That book...we saw it in Mr. Rayven's office..." June stated then stopped in front of Raia.
"T-this is not... It's a different book," Raia can't stop stuttering while his eyes keep looking at random places. He didn’t notice that one of the books he was holding is already familiar to June. He didn’t even expect that June would ever remember it.
June aggressively took the book in his hands and even Raia didn't notice it until he had the book.
"Wait!" Raia tried to get back the book but June already held it tightly.
Their eyes met and Raia could see hundreds of questions in June's eyes.
They are now sitting in front of each other in Raia's room while June is looking at the book.
"So... what's the deal?" June asked him.
"I tried to investigate it myself...but it's really hard to get more evidence as of now," Raia answered him. He already told June all about it that June digested calmly.
"And what do you think those creatures are?" June asked him.
Raia took another book and put it on the table so June could see it.
"Ghouls?" June read the titles.
"I've been searching for the creatures that match the physiques and characteristics that I saw last time and all I've got is this..." Raia stated before he opened the book on Chapter 5.
"In here, it is stated that ghouls are demon-like being or monstrous humanoids that consume human flesh. I don't really know if that's the real thing but I assumed that they are something like that," I said before looking at him.
"I get the point but...is Mr. Rayven really one of them?" June whispered while his hands are both on his chin.
Raia could understand why June looks so lost. It's like a big bomb that suddenly falls into their hands. The farm, the goods, and even the ghoul thing, no one expects it! All the more for being a food supplement to the staff in the school.
"What are we going to do?" June asked when he finally get over the shock.
Raia look at the map that he drew and posted at the back of his room door. He walked towards it and opened the lights for them to see it.
"As of now, I only have limited information about the ground structure of the university. I tried to talk to the other school personnel but all of them are very careful with their words. I couldn't even get a single piece of valuable information from them,"
June slowly walked towards him and looked at the map. “As I envisioned, the campus is in the middle of the island. It took us half an hour to get in here using the tunnel so it's safe to assume that the island is not as small as we thought when we first saw it. Based on its radius, which we could consider as the tunnel that we went through, it's probably around thirteen and a half kilometers.
Raia took a pen and compute the radius and the circumference assuming that the island is somewhat in a circle form.
"I think it doesn't matter if the island is circle or whatsoever, as long as we could give exact measurements of the tunnel to get out of here,"
He plotted the ratios on the board to let him see it while trying to figure out a way to get out of there.
"And also, I'm planning to tell everybody about this sooner or later. I just can't escape alone and let others die in here. I did-"
June suddenly cut me off. "No...you can't let them know," Raia looked at June, surprised at how serious he was when he said it.
"What do you mean, don't let them know?" He asked him.
"It doesn't guarantee us that they will believe us, right? Besides, we have no proof that the instructors are ghouls or any kind of monsters. Do you think they will just say "Okay, I'll go escape with you because you told me to," as easy as that?" June asked him while sarcastically acting Raia’s naivety.
He looked down. He knew it was a bit odd for him to care for them even if he was not really close to any one of them. But he could see it. He could tell that Osamu wants him to save everyone and to save them from what Osamu experienced.
"Besides..." June added before he turned his back at me.
"We're not really sure if it's safe even if we successfully escape the campus, it harbors more risks than our gain,” June said before he walked out of the room.
Raia was left dumbfounded while looking at the map. He knows where he's coming from. There is no assurance that the outside part of the campus is safe either. But he just can't ignore and wait to get killed in here to be served as food to those monsters.
I need to do something.
After their conversation, June went back to where he went earlier with Aki. There, he saw his friends laughing and talking at each other. He acted as if nothing happened when they looked at him.
"Hey man, where did you go?" Kanaye asked him
"Huh? In my room," he simply answered.
"Really? I didn't saw you there. I went back to the dormitory and there's no one there," Kanaye added while raising his eyebrows as if trying to catch if he was lying.
"I'm inside my room and took some self-grooming," June lied then tried to shift the conversation.
"What's going on?" he asked them when he noticed that there are so many foods on the table.
"Happy you noticed bro! Guess what? I think someone has a birthday today," Kanaye suddenly hangs his arms on June's shoulder. Arrogant smugness could be seen on his face.
"Really? Is it your birthday, Aki?" June asked but she slightly shrugged her shoulders. He even looked at Amelia who is now eating in front of him but even the lady shrugged.
"Oh I don't know whose birthday is it," June concluded before he looked at Kanaye. His friend felt ignored and insulted.
His best friend didn't even know his birthday?! What kind of bullshit is that?!
"Argh!! Why don't you even know your best friend's birthday?! Bro! It's my birthday!!! MINE!!!" Kanaye shouted at his ears. June tried to cover it but he could already feel his eardrums bleeding.
"Okay, fine fine...happy birthday," he simply greeted his friend. But it didn't make Kanaye happy.
"Yeah great...what a lovely and energetic greeting that was, June. Impressive! I really felt the happiness in your heart that I was born in this world," Kanaye felt depressed after all that and just looked at his food.
But June didn't bother to talk to him after that. Well, what do you expect? June hates drama and it's not his thing to do sweet greetings and such speeches.
After that never-ending drama of Kanaye and his birthday celebration, June went back to his room. He was about to cross the intersection when Aki suddenly walked in front of him and just looked at him directly.
"What is it?" he asked. He tried to shake her off but she's still pursuant to talk to him and didn't even take her sight away from him.
"What did Raia tell you," she asked him. June was surprised but successfully hid his expression.
"We just talked about the recent exam, why?" he tried to remain calm.
"Really? But it sounds like it's more than that," Aki insisted.
"Does it even matter to you?" June asked her back.
"I guess..." June secretly rolled his eyes when he took his sight away from her.
"We talked about guy things, are you satisfied now? We even talked about girls and stuff together. You good now?" June finally reached his limit when he walked past her. She remained in her standing while their backs were facing each other.
"I know when you're lying, June...I know there's a catch," Aki said, which made June stop walking.
This time, Aki is the first one to walk away that leave June speechless while looking at her back.
New update!! I hope I could update every day^^ ENJOY!
June didn’t even get a chance to say a word, as he just stared at Aki’s back until she disappeared. It is his first time seeing her in that mood. Meanwhile, Raia was busily untucking his polo shirt. He had just arrived in his room and was about to change clothes. His necktie was still hanging on his neck when he walked towards the map that was attached to the wall.He stared at it for almost 30 seconds before he shrugged his shoulders. "Arghh! No matter how many times I looked at it, I’m still missing another piece! What would it be?" he asked himself before he furiously sat on his bed, still looking at the map. It’s been a week now since he started his research. For now, all he knows is the general structure of the island. It’s probably about a couple of miles, but even Raia wasn’t sure about it. It's just his wild guess. After a long thought, his mind suddenly felt tired. He let his body be pulled down by gravity and lay down on the bed. He felt his eyes getting heavy, so he slowly
The three were holding their breaths so as not to be seen by those creatures. Aki couldn't even open her eyes when she saw one approaching them. The creature's large body and sharp claws were noticeable. Its form was strange and terrifying; even Raia couldn't bring himself to look at it again. "Is this all we're taking?" the creature asked before turning to its companion behind it. "Yes, that's it. Rayven takes too long to bring out new supplies. I've been saying that we should replace him with Rover," the other one complained. "Do you think Mr. A would just let that happen?" the one approaching June and co. asked. "I think Rayven is a kinder servant than his brother," it added before stopping in front of the tube where Raia and the others were hiding. June and Co.'s eyes widened as they saw the creature about to take the tube. They closed their eyes so as not to see the terrifying creature up close. The creature slowly leaned down to grab the tube, and in a moment, it was slung
"Where were you last night?" Mr. Rayven asked, causing fear and nervousness in Raia's heart."Ah... I was in my room, Mr. Rayven. Why?" Raia's voice trembled with fear. He was aware of his shaking voice, but he couldn't stop the fear. It seemed like he was completely overwhelmed by fear as he stared into Mr. Rayven's eyes.Mr. Rayven smiled at him. "Oh, really?" It could be seen that there's a suspicion about Mr. Rayven's smile. He slowly approached Raia."Don't lie to me, Raia. You got your memories back, don't you?" he asked, while his hands were only a few meters away from him. Raia swallowed nervously as he noticed his hands behind him.Raia immediately became alert because of this. It was undeniable that Mr. Rayven noticed that Raia's memories had returned. The fear enveloped Raia even more, especially when he remembered the night he lost his memories due to a strange smell. It was not impossible for the teacher to use it again to erase his memory."Hey Raia!" they suddenly heard
June and Aki returned to the classroom in silence. They hadn't told anyone about what was happening—not even their close friends Kanaye and Amelia. After what they found out from Raia, they didn't talk about it anymore. There was also a possibility that Amelia and Kanaye might be put in danger if they told them the truth. Aki and June believed that this was not the right time to tell their friends about it. Several days had passed since the exam, and the results were about to be released. June looked around until he saw a particular person who Raia had predicted was one of the passers. That person furrowed his brow when he noticed June looking at him. June looked away and sat down, putting his hands in his pockets. After a moment, Mr. Rayven finally arrived with a smile on his face, and the class's tension was palpable as they looked directly at him. "Oh my God, I hope I passed," Coral, who was sitting behind June, said, hoping out loud while praying. "Don't worry, you probabl
Raia seemed to have been nailed to his spot as he stared at Mr. Gojo. This was the first time to talk to him outside the classroom, yet he couldn't help but feel nervous. It was no different from the feeling Mr. Rayven gave him; he felt even more intimidated now that he was facing Mr. Gojo. As Gojo slowly approached him, Raia found himself backing away."Are you afraid of me, Raia?" Gojo asked as he continued to approach him. Raia was filled with intense fear as he continued to back away."N-no...w-what do you need from me?" Raia asked nervously."I heard from Rayven. you're the first one to know about it, aren't you? He knew that he hadn't told Ryota about it, but he was planning to do so, and yet, Mr. Gojo included Rrota Yuu."I... It's not true; I don't know what you're talking about!
It was already 7 in the morning when June heard his Mom shouting downstairs. He immediately took his blanket off his body and slightly bent his body while yawning. It was a pleasant morning for him but a noisy one at the same time because of his Mom nagging to his younger sisters. He looked at the windowpane, looking at the children playing outside while continuously brushing his dried saliva off his mouth. He then step outside his room and go to the sink to brush his teeth before going to the kitchen. There, he saw his mother cooking their breakfast.“Oh, here you are June, take your breakfast,” his mother said and gave him the plates. He immediately takes the plate and gets his own food. He even takes a peek at his cellphone while eating. He i
After a welcome ceremony by the staff and teachers of the school, June and the other students went to their respective dormitory. It is located in the Murray building next to the faculty room. It is divided into two sections, one is for girls and the other way is for the boys.June silently observed the dorm while walking together with his colleagues. They haven’t known each other yet and he doesn’t have a plan to be friendly with them. Meanwhile, Kanaye who is busy talking to the other guys looked at the stairs while walking. He can’t stop being amused by how sturdy the materials used on building the whole floors are.At the second floor of the building, there are eight rooms, four at each side facing each other. Each door has names on it that indicate who owns the room. Kanaye stepped forward when he s
In the dark and quiet room, there was a man lying on the ground. Both of his hands are cuffed and even his body is pure of scars and stained with blood. He slowly moved his body towards the light. He can’t see the things around him and the only thing he wants to go to is towards that light where he thinks he can escape.‘He-help me,’ the guy said to himself while looking at the door. But suddenly, something blocks the light. No, it's someone! With his eyes that can barely see the person standing in front of him, blocking his sight, he slowly raised his face desperately looking at his face.‘I can’t see him!’ the guy exclaimed to himself feeling the sudden fear as the guy in front of him suddenly lowered its body to level it to

Raia's POV What was that? I looked at both my hands and saw that it was still trembling. I don't know why but something suddenly went and popped in my memory. It's as if, it is my lost memory. Farm… Goods… That's it. I was the only one who knew about it. And also June. I was sitting in my bed while remembering those lost memories. That night when I forgot everything, I smelled something...and saw Mr. Rayven looking at me. I'm safe to assume that he did something that time. Besides, he's the only one who went inside my room that night before I lost those memories. I looked at the window beside me. Then I suddenly saw something on the table. It was from Osamu. Ah yes...Osamu. Something suddenly freaked me out. My body moved on its own and took the lucky charm that Osamu gave me last time and then went to the door. I need to give this to Osamu. I also need to talk to him before he went to Mr. Rayven's room. I have a feeling that something bad will happen. Please be safe,
Raia’s POVWhat’s with him? It was my first time to see him look at me like that. When I saw his creepy and suspicious smile toward me, my face crumpled. What does he mean? The winner has been decided already? But the game hasn’t even started yet.To my surprise, he suddenly went toward me. It came so fast that my eyes and mind couldn’t even react at all. It took me seconds before I realized I was lying on the ground."Huh?" I looked at the ground in front of me. Suddenly, a pair of shoes appeared in my sight. I slowly looked up and saw Osamu looking down at me. At first, I couldn’t even recognize him because of the blinding lights behind him. Furthermore, his unusual expression could be seen on his face."I win, Raia," he said while smiling at me. I could even see his teeth shining in my eyes. After a second, a loud announcement could be heard in the whole room. I don’t know why and how it happened, but everything went so fast. The final game rule was so simple. It was a tag.And the
"In playing charades, you need to have one who will guess and one who will act. In this activity, you will need to choose who will guess and who will act. There is no time limit. For you to win the game, you need to be the first one to answer all of the charades correctly." Raia furrowed his eyebrows as he heard the instructor. He was well aware that he was not good at acting or guessing. He looked at Osamu, but it seems like he was thinking about the right strategy as well. "But! But wait, there's more! Here's the twist," Mr. Gojo added. "You can challenge anyone inside that room, and once you win your bet against them... they will automatically fail the test and will not be able to pass it," he added. Raia raised his eyebrow. "What a nonsense twist," he said to himself. As Mr. Gojo finished his last words, the screen went blank again. The other teams seem to be thinking about their strategy. Unlike the first two games, this is not against the other team but against your teammate
