With a single blow from his whistle, Mr. Rayven starts the game. The students, who were just standing in front of the door, walked inside. June and Amelia walked side by side, still observing the others.
While Kanaye, who seemed a bit worried, walked behind Aki. He looked like a scared cat who was trying to hide.
"Kanaye?"
With just one call, he immediately went in front of Aki, as if he hadn't been hiding a while ago. "Yeah?" he asked, then he saw her looking at the right side. He slightly looked in that direction and saw the surroundings. Inside the room, there are different rooms.
Other students stand before the door as if waiting for it to open.
"Hmm, I think we should pick our own door too." Aki concluded, and without his consent, she walked straight to the door in front of her. "Ah-w-wait!" he said and slightly ran after her.
Meanwhile, June and Amelia walked toward the other door. Ever since they entered the room, no one bothered to talk between them. They stand before it, waiting for the others to finally choose their own door. It seems like there are 12 doors inside. And every partnered student should choose their own door.
When all of the students finally stood before their chosen door, a green light suddenly lit up the whole room. The white light suddenly disappeared, and it was as if they were now in an apocalyptic area because of the vibe it brought.
Amelia suddenly felt nervous, so she stepped closer to June. And she looked at him. She wasn’t surprised that the guy had no reaction at all. He’s just blankly staring at the green light. She collected herself and took a deep breath.
But when Amelia was about to exhale, the floor that they were standing on suddenly disappeared, and they fell onto the deepest ground. She could hear the screams and frightened shouts of the other students. It seems like they are not the only ones who fell.
"June!!" She shouted as the surroundings went black while they were falling to the deepest ground. She couldn’t see anything and couldn’t even feel if her partner, June, was still there. Her collected self from earlier turned into heartbreaking beats of nervousness again. She could feel the desperation while swaying her hands in the air, trying to look for June’s hands.
"June!! Where are you?! " She shouted while her hands were still in the air, until someone held it for her. After that, she also felt his hands on her waist, protecting her after they finally fell on the hard and cold ground floor.
"Are you okay?" June asked her as they landed on the floor less scathed.
"June!" Amelia exclaimed and immediately took her hands off of his touch as she realized that he was still holding her hands. But June didn’t even notice it as he looked at the surroundings.
It looks like an underground. The room that they entered earlier is just the entrance to this underground. Every door was connected to the different parts of this underground.
"Wow, I didn't expect there to be so much space in here," Amelia exclaimed, amused by what she was seeing.
"The university itself is on an isolated island, what do you expect," June answered her with his blank and cold tone, but she just ignored it.
"I bet we’ll start here." Amelia said, minutes after she noticed that the pamphlet started to shine.
"Easy?" June reads the word written on it.
Amelia looked at June. "I think we should choose who will play for the round then," Amelia said. They stared at each other for a while, until June looked away.
"I think you should go," he said, then looked down, as if he was defeated. Honestly, he already told Amelia earlier that he will play the easy part because he doesn’t want to do anything in a difficult round. But it seems like he has no choice. Maybe he’ll get a chance to play the average later.
Amelia looked at the pamphlet and saw two buttons. Their names were written on it, and it seems like it’s asking who will be the player in this round. The easy round
Amelia Morie.
After she clicked her name, a strong force pulled her away from June. It was too late for them to react until they saw themselves standing in front of each other with a thick glass in between.
It looks like an isolated room for Amelia, the player. She looked at the worried face of June and nodded a bit. June , who seemed worried a while ago, slightly lightened up and just looked at Amelia.
After a second, the pamphlet starts to glow again.
"What is this?" Amelia asked herself as she noticed other words forming on the pamphlet.
"Find the BloodyCookie. I have branches, yet I have no leaves, no trunk, and no fruit. Yet everybody uses me. "
Amelia's eyebrow furrowed as she read the riddle. She doesn't know and isn’t even good at it. She suddenly regrets taking this level.
She looked around the room and tried to find a clue. But she got none. She looked at June and he just raised his eyebrow as if saying, "You can’t do it without me, don’t you?" using his arrogant and highly praised tone. She immediately felt embarrassed and annoyed just by looking at him, so she turned her sight in front of her.
"Think Amelia. Think! Oh shit! " She tried to calm herself down. There’s no doubt that her IQ level is high, but logic and riddles are her weaknesses. If she had to choose between riddles and literature, she would choose the latter.
But she has no choice. She needs to answer this or else both of them will fail the exam. She looked at the pamphlet again and read the riddle over and over again.
"I have branches... yet I have no leaves. Find the bloody cookie..." she said to herself.
"What the hell is she doing?" June asked himself as he saw Amelia struggling to answer a mere riddle. He likes to answer riddles, so he thinks the same thing as Amelia. He also regretted why he gave this simple task to Amelia. He clicked his teeth because of regret.
For a minute, it seemed like Amelia had finally solved the riddle. She looked at the pamphlet again and saw the clue. It has four words. She slowly wrote the answer on it, then it shone a bit after that.
"Huh? Is it wrong?" she asked herself. No, it can't be. I know this is right. There must be something else. " She looked around and then saw something that made her eyes glitter.
"The answer is a bank. It says "find the bloody cookie" If the answer is bank, which could also mean storage for money, then I think this is the right place to hide the cookie," she said to herself and went in front of the chest and opened it.
A bank might be equal to a treasure chest from the old days. She slowly opened it and saw a piece of cookie. Her smile immediately shone on her face as she looked back at June.
June, on the other hand, just smiled a bit as he saw the sudden change in surroundings in Amelia’s direction. The big screen in front suddenly turned into number 2.
"I guess we survived the first one, don’t we?" he said to himself. He looked at his watch. "Though it took us about 15 minutes. If it was me, it would be done in just 1 or 2 minutes," he said to himself, then looked at Amelia again while she was looking at the pamphlet.
While Amelia was reading the next question, June suddenly felt bored. It’s almost 15 minutes after his partner went inside that room, and yet, they are still on the second question. "Just how hard could those questions be?" he asked himself while both of his arms crossed each other. He slowly looked at the ceiling as he thought of Kanaye. 'Maybe there won’t be any problems, wouldn't they? I think he should be okay. He was with Aki anyway,' he said to himself and looked down again. The other students, like them, are preoccupied with solving the riddles. Others think that this was the most difficult thing for them to solve because all of the questions required them to think outside the box. While others think that this game was a piece of cake, well, at least for someone who was known as being a prodigy. Raia just looked at Osamu as he continuously answered 4 consecutive riddle puzzles. Both of them decided that Osamu would take the easy and difficult levels while Raia would be part
Almost all of the students finally finished the easy level. Ryota, who seemed tired, sat on the ground. His partner, Eva, went beside him. "Tired?" She asked him, then gave him a bottle of water. "Nah...I just felt my feet get numb," he answered, obviously lying. Eva just smiled at him. She has been by his side for years and has become close to him. There's no way she could not read his expressions and feelings. He's like an open book to her. But instead of saying more than that, she remained silent and just looked at the front. They just finished the last task at this level and were about to go to the average level. For some reason, Ryota felt pressured and exhausted. He knew in himself that those questions were nerve-wracking. Unlike the questions given to the other students, Ryota's questions are much more difficult. It's as if someone is making it really hard for them. Mr. Rayven, who was looking at the monitor, clicked his tongue when he saw that Ryota had a passing number of
Raia looked at the surroundings while waiting for further instructions. It's been five minutes since he went inside this room but until now, he can't think of anything because of his nervousness. His hands are shaking while his eyes can't stop looking around the room. The walls are covered white while there are some cabinets at the side. There are some maps and other books, seems like props for Raia. After several minutes, he heard something from the other side of the room. He was sitting in front of the transparent glass. In this way, he could see whoever is on the other side of the room. A guy, probably 5'3 in height came over while simply looking around the room. He has this muscular body that, no doubt, one of his assets to attract girls. Raia felt insecure for a second. He looked like a lost kitten for a second until he met Raia's eyes. He slightly bowed down and smiled a bit. Raia's eyebrows furrowed as he was not familiar with this guy. "As far as I know, he's a friend o
Emma walked out of the room, head high while looking at her partner, Everett, with much confidence. "I see," Everett thought to himself, then went after her. "So you beat June Smith, huh?" He asked Emma while waiting for the elevator to turn up. Emma was unfazed, still looking at her fingernails and blowing at them. It's as if winning is the most obvious thing for her. "What a coincidence," Everett thought to himself as he waited for Emma's response. On the other hand, the next game was for Phill, which has now finished. He was expecting it, though. He can't ask for help from his partner since both of them are not good at mathematical equations. Their defeat was totally obvious even before the game started. Rio wins five cookies against Phill with no cookies at all. Meanwhile, Dae, who forfeits his chance to win, lets Chan, his brother, continue the game. He knew how good his brother was at this kind of thing, so he didn't hesitate to ask for help. Ryota suddenly felt nervous wh
"In playing charades, you need to have one who will guess and one who will act. In this activity, you will need to choose who will guess and who will act. There is no time limit. For you to win the game, you need to be the first one to answer all of the charades correctly." Raia furrowed his eyebrows as he heard the instructor. He was well aware that he was not good at acting or guessing. He looked at Osamu, but it seems like he was thinking about the right strategy as well. "But! But wait, there's more! Here's the twist," Mr. Gojo added. "You can challenge anyone inside that room, and once you win your bet against them... they will automatically fail the test and will not be able to pass it," he added. Raia raised his eyebrow. "What a nonsense twist," he said to himself. As Mr. Gojo finished his last words, the screen went blank again. The other teams seem to be thinking about their strategy. Unlike the first two games, this is not against the other team but against your teammate
Raia’s POVWhat’s with him? It was my first time to see him look at me like that. When I saw his creepy and suspicious smile toward me, my face crumpled. What does he mean? The winner has been decided already? But the game hasn’t even started yet.To my surprise, he suddenly went toward me. It came so fast that my eyes and mind couldn’t even react at all. It took me seconds before I realized I was lying on the ground."Huh?" I looked at the ground in front of me. Suddenly, a pair of shoes appeared in my sight. I slowly looked up and saw Osamu looking down at me. At first, I couldn’t even recognize him because of the blinding lights behind him. Furthermore, his unusual expression could be seen on his face."I win, Raia," he said while smiling at me. I could even see his teeth shining in my eyes. After a second, a loud announcement could be heard in the whole room. I don’t know why and how it happened, but everything went so fast. The final game rule was so simple. It was a tag.And the
Raia's POV What was that? I looked at both my hands and saw that it was still trembling. I don't know why but something suddenly went and popped in my memory. It's as if, it is my lost memory. Farm… Goods… That's it. I was the only one who knew about it. And also June. I was sitting in my bed while remembering those lost memories. That night when I forgot everything, I smelled something...and saw Mr. Rayven looking at me. I'm safe to assume that he did something that time. Besides, he's the only one who went inside my room that night before I lost those memories. I looked at the window beside me. Then I suddenly saw something on the table. It was from Osamu. Ah yes...Osamu. Something suddenly freaked me out. My body moved on its own and took the lucky charm that Osamu gave me last time and then went to the door. I need to give this to Osamu. I also need to talk to him before he went to Mr. Rayven's room. I have a feeling that something bad will happen. Please be safe,
Raia's research goes on the days after Osamu's death. He can't afford to lose any more time. He read every possible clue, especially about the history of the school. He also tried to talk to the other personnel and staff on the campus. Of course, he stayed alert assuming that all of the personnel in the university are human-eating creatures like Mr. Rayven. But after several attempts to gain new information, he got nothing. He was walking at that time while holding a bunch of books that he borrowed from the library. He was about to take a left in the intersection of the dormitory when he suddenly bumped into someone. All of the books fell down but he immediately took it back, trying not to expose the content of the books. "Are you okay?" he heard someone ask. "Y-yeah... I'm good," he answered. He slowly looked straight when he finally got all the books. It was Aki and June who bumped into him. When he saw the serious look from June, he immediately looked away and bid goodbye.
Raia seemed to have been nailed to his spot as he stared at Mr. Gojo. This was the first time to talk to him outside the classroom, yet he couldn't help but feel nervous. It was no different from the feeling Mr. Rayven gave him; he felt even more intimidated now that he was facing Mr. Gojo. As Gojo slowly approached him, Raia found himself backing away."Are you afraid of me, Raia?" Gojo asked as he continued to approach him. Raia was filled with intense fear as he continued to back away."N-no...w-what do you need from me?" Raia asked nervously."I heard from Rayven. you're the first one to know about it, aren't you? And June...and Aki," he said, counting on his fingers the people who knew about the secret of Hyakku University. "And..." he paused before turning to face him."Ryota Yuu," he said. It surprised Raia. He knew that he hadn't told Ryota about it, but he was planning to do so, and yet, Mr. Gojo included Rrota Yuu."I... It's not true; I don't know what you're talking about!
June and Aki returned to the classroom in silence. They hadn't told anyone about what was happening—not even their close friends Kanaye and Amelia. After what they found out from Raia, they didn't talk about it anymore. There was also a possibility that Amelia and Kanaye might be put in danger if they told them the truth. Aki and June believed that this was not the right time to tell their friends about it. Several days had passed since the exam, and the results were about to be released. June looked around until he saw a particular person who Raia had predicted was one of the passers. That person furrowed his brow when he noticed June looking at him. June looked away and sat down, putting his hands in his pockets. After a moment, Mr. Rayven finally arrived with a smile on his face, and the class's tension was palpable as they looked directly at him. "Oh my God, I hope I passed," Coral, who was sitting behind June, said, hoping out loud while praying. "Don't worry, you probabl
"Where were you last night?" Mr. Rayven asked, causing fear and nervousness in Raia's heart."Ah... I was in my room, Mr. Rayven. Why?" Raia's voice trembled with fear. He was aware of his shaking voice, but he couldn't stop the fear. It seemed like he was completely overwhelmed by fear as he stared into Mr. Rayven's eyes.Mr. Rayven smiled at him. "Oh, really?" It could be seen that there's a suspicion about Mr. Rayven's smile. He slowly approached Raia."Don't lie to me, Raia. You got your memories back, don't you?" he asked, while his hands were only a few meters away from him. Raia swallowed nervously as he noticed his hands behind him.Raia immediately became alert because of this. It was undeniable that Mr. Rayven noticed that Raia's memories had returned. The fear enveloped Raia even more, especially when he remembered the night he lost his memories due to a strange smell. It was not impossible for the teacher to use it again to erase his memory."Hey Raia!" they suddenly heard
The three were holding their breaths so as not to be seen by those creatures. Aki couldn't even open her eyes when she saw one approaching them. The creature's large body and sharp claws were noticeable. Its form was strange and terrifying; even Raia couldn't bring himself to look at it again. "Is this all we're taking?" the creature asked before turning to its companion behind it. "Yes, that's it. Rayven takes too long to bring out new supplies. I've been saying that we should replace him with Rover," the other one complained. "Do you think Mr. A would just let that happen?" the one approaching June and co. asked. "I think Rayven is a kinder servant than his brother," it added before stopping in front of the tube where Raia and the others were hiding. June and Co.'s eyes widened as they saw the creature about to take the tube. They closed their eyes so as not to see the terrifying creature up close. The creature slowly leaned down to grab the tube, and in a moment, it was slung
June didn’t even get a chance to say a word, as he just stared at Aki’s back until she disappeared. It is his first time seeing her in that mood. Meanwhile, Raia was busily untucking his polo shirt. He had just arrived in his room and was about to change clothes. His necktie was still hanging on his neck when he walked towards the map that was attached to the wall.He stared at it for almost 30 seconds before he shrugged his shoulders. "Arghh! No matter how many times I looked at it, I’m still missing another piece! What would it be?" he asked himself before he furiously sat on his bed, still looking at the map. It’s been a week now since he started his research. For now, all he knows is the general structure of the island. It’s probably about a couple of miles, but even Raia wasn’t sure about it. It's just his wild guess. After a long thought, his mind suddenly felt tired. He let his body be pulled down by gravity and lay down on the bed. He felt his eyes getting heavy, so he slowly
