*Cole*
The beautiful girl in front of me swung toward me at the sound of my voice. She seemed to move too quickly though, and her body kept moving to the side without her feet.
I reached forward and gripped her arm surely as she fell to the side, righting her and pulling her back upright and closer to me.
She let out a gasp and her eyes were squeezed tightly shut, making her nose crinkle in the cutest way.
"Easy there," I said with a little laugh. "Usually, it takes a little longer for me to knock a girl off her feet."
"C-C-Cole," she stuttered out, opening her eyes and pressing her hand to her chest as I was sure her heart was beating fast.
It takes her humorously long to look at me, register my hand on her arm, and have the blush creep up her face.
Has she always been that cute? Maybe it was just being up so close to her now, or maybe it was with the color in her cheeks, but she was even better looking than I remembered.
"Tha
*Ada*I stood there awkwardly as he shut the door behind us. My body was hyper-aware of his hand resting along my lower back.It seemed to be shaking."Bryson?" I whispered his name, not sure what to say. "Uh, what can I do for you?"He didn't answer at first, he just stepped closer to me, taking a deep breath in, as if savoring my smell. I suddenly felt lightheaded and felt myself stumble slightly."Did you have to drink so much?" Bryson said with an annoyed sigh, but I heard the amusement in his voice too."I didn't drink that much," I retorted. "It's not the alcohol that is affecting me now…it's you."Oh my goddess, did I really say that?? Maybe Cole was rubbing off on me because that was so cheesy…and so vulnerable…and it was a lie.Because the alcohol was obviously affecting me…it was making me more vocal and open.At my words, Bryson had sucked in a breath and tensed in front of me. "Talk to me, tell me what you're
*Bryson*I lay in Ada's bed, unable to control the smile that spread across my face as I pulled her into my arms and curled her against me.For the first time in my life that I could remember I was blissfully happy. There was nothing else at that moment. Just me and Ada.Ada panted, as I held her tight, but I could feel the smile that was on her lips as well. Now that I marked her, our connection was even closer, and I was getting the humm of her emotions through the bond so much stronger than before. I should have done this ages ago."I told you," my wolf said from inside my mind, but his tone was teasing. He was in just as good of a mood as I was.Yet the longer we lay there, the more that reality set in. While I didn't regret what had just happened in any way, I started to worry about the repercussions.Ada seemed to be doing the same."So, what now?" Ada asked nervously, intertwining our hands as mine curled tighter around her.
*Bryson*"Hey, Bryson!" A voice called from the end of the hall.I didn't have to turn around to know who it was, but I did anyway, knowing that it would be extremely rude to simply ignore her."Hello, Victoria," I said, as I watched her quickly jog up to me.I looked around and was thankful to see that there wasn't anyone else around for once. Victoria was standing before me, calm and collected, and I had to remind myself that it wasn't her that I was mad at, but my father."Please, call me Vicki," she said with a wide smile."How are you today?" I asked, trying to be pleasant as well."I would be better if you could explain to me why you don't want me as your mate."Well, there went that."I- uh- well--" I hadn't expected her to be so blunt and I wasn't prepared for it."I mean, I did win first place in training and I have the strongest team of warriors," she continued, unaffected. "I think it is obvious that you, or any male for that matter, would be blessed to have me as
*Vicki*I stomped away from the disgustingly happy couple, jealousy and anger rising within me, burning a hole in my chest.Because it was obvious to me, as I was sure that it was obvious to everyone else, that they were interested in each other. I had higher hopes when I had heard of Bryson, but it appeared he was just as weak as every other man."What a joke," I whispered to myself as I continued to walk away.Yet I couldn't help but make sure that my butt was swaying just perfect with every step I took. My beauty was another weapon of mine, and I was just as skilled at using it as I was hand-to-hand combat.I had no other choice growing up with my father.Since the day I was born, or at least as far as I could remember, I had been disciplined by my father. He was very strict with me, and had taught me from a young age that everything I did should be for the sake of our pack. I had no choices of my own.A good Luna was selfless. And that's really what it came down to. My fath
*Ada*I groaned as I tried to stretch out my sore shoulder.Vicki had just got done throwing me to the ground. Ever since our meeting in the hall she had seemed to be doing everything in her power to make my life miserable."Is this what all the wolves from the Western Pack are like?" Vicki asked, stepping over me. "If so, no wonder why you guys are so pathetically small."Despite knowing that she was saying this to get a rise out of me, I couldn't help the anger that began to burn up my chest. Why had I even agreed to this in the first place? I didn't even have a wolf, it was dumb for me to train with all of them…but that hadn't stopped me growing up, and I didn't want it to stop me now.Plus, if I was being honest, I wanted to prove myself a little, all while keeping an eye on Vicki. When we had formally met the other day, I had gotten a weird feeling about her. And it didn't help that she was actively trying to steal my mate from me now. I knew that it was a possibility that
*Cole*The relief that washed through me when I saw Ada open her eyes somewhat surprised me. However, that relief was short-lived when I could see the pain still reflected in her eyes.Only moments before she had been crying and shouting as she lay before me…Ada looked scared though, so I pretended to relax in front of her and gave her my typical smile. That always seemed to put all the girls at ease. It was harder than normal to accomplish though. There was a weight in my chest that made it hard not to look worried, but I still smiled for her.Ada didn't smile back though."What are you doing?" she repeated, and I realized I never answered her.I opened my mouth, but she began frantically looking around, looking confused and disoriented, and cut me off before I had the chance."Where's Bryson? Where am I?"Ugh of course she'd ask for him first. The longer she was awake, apparently the more questions she had. I reached forward to put my hand on her arm, to hopefully calm her
*Ada*Our footsteps echoed in the hall as we walked, emphasizing the silence between us.Cole had just asked me to be his mate, and this time it didn't feel like a joke. What kind of mess was I in?And what was going on with my wolf? I had gotten it at training, I was sure, and yet I didn't have any answers about it. I asked Cole, but he didn't seem interested in it.So now I just wanted to get to my room and wait for Bryson, because something didn't feel right. We finally reached my door, and I breathed a sigh of relief, that is until he stepped forward and began to open my door."Um, I can handle it from here," I told him quickly."Nonsense," Cole said with a wave and his typical smile. "I need to make sure you do what you should and rest. You did just pass out after all."I was going to argue, but then thought better. He would just argue back, and I wasn't really in the mood. I wouldn't tell him this, but even the short walk to my room from his had made me slightly light-hea
*Ada*I laid in bed, restless.Bryson still wasn't back from whatever job that he was on for his father, and his absence made it impossible to sleep. There was so much I had to talk to him about. My mind whirled. There was no way I was going to stop its process tonight, so with a sigh I sat up in the bed and swung my feet over the edge.If I wasn't going to sleep, then I might as well do something productive.I threw my clothes back on and quietly opened my door, peeking up and down the dark hall. However, it appeared that I was the only restless one tonight.I retraced my steps back to the library that Cole had shown me earlier in the day. There had been a few people in there earlier, and I hadn't wanted anyone to know what I was looking for. Even Cole didn't know the extent of my search. But now that it was night, I could use the empty library to my advantage and do as much research as possible. Not only would it serve as a good distraction, but I would feel useful as well.W
