Our footsteps echoed in the hall as we walked, emphasizing the silence between us.

Cole had just asked me to be his mate, and this time it didn't feel like a joke. What kind of mess was I in?

And what was going on with my wolf? I had gotten it at training, I was sure, and yet I didn't have any answers about it. I asked Cole, but he didn't seem interested in it.

So now I just wanted to get to my room and wait for Bryson, because something didn't feel right.

We finally reached my door, and I breathed a sigh of relief, that is until he stepped forward and began to open my door.

"Um, I can handle it from here," I told him quickly.

"Nonsense," Cole said with a wave and his typical smile. "I need to make sure you do what you should and rest. You did just pass out after all."

I was going to argue, but then thought better. He would just argue back, and I wasn't really in the mood. I wouldn't tell him this, but even the short walk to my room from his had made me slightly light-hea
