Yavonne has been on her own for a few years, just trying to avoid being detected by pretty well anyone. Her sadness slowly grows to rage, the victim day by day turning to villainy for a solution. Koin's life was perfect, he would be Alpha in a few years, the next in a long line of men to make a grand decision that would further change the packs fortunes for the better. But what if both of their lives were built on lies, surrounded by creatures neither of them even knew existed?

Yavonne
Ethelwets West Virginia was a quiet lazy town, a pace you felt immediately upon arrival. the biggest store was Walmart, and one long road could take you from the start of town to the finish. Yvonne had walked it numerous times in the early hours before the sun would rise and people would start to meander out into their busy days. in total it took maybe 2 hours to get from one end of the highway to the other, both leading to opposite ends of the county where curvy roads lead to Holler roads and everyone knew everyone. In some ways she loved it, and in others it was torture. on one hand there was the lake, always free and open, whereas in the city she had grown up in, you had to pay to swim or be fortunate enough to own a pool.
on the other hand, this was the Bible belt, and she was a raging Heathen, now cut off from a small community she had grown up in.
It always fascinated her that a town surrounded by so much natural beauty and wilderness could fall so far from the root of the Magic that clung to the air and the trees. People here hunted, and fished, swam at the lake, walked through the woods, and in many cases lived out in the small forests, yet. Somehow still managed to not hear the call of the gods in any of it, not instead they went to church and shut down the town every Sunday to worship a god which stated very clearly that animals were like walking empty shells.
Today however, she couldn't think about any of that.Today, she had to be careful and thoughtful. she sat in the uncomfortable straight-backed chair in the principal’s office, waiting patiently on the round somewhat ditsy office attendant to come question her further. Things always moved so painfully slow here, even teachers would be perpetually late to class because they got caught up in the hall talking. gossip flourished better than the highway wildflowers. Yavonne however had become very adept at blending in, even as a newcomer.
the older woman wobbled in with a huff and settled down into her chair, her glasses half slid down her nose as she regarded Yavonne, no doubt trying to remember her, but she wouldn't. after a moment she smiled and looked down at the paper work she had left carelessly scattered on the desk "Yavonne Porter" she said with a nod obviously still trying to dig up some unavailable memory "Your parents haven't returned our calls about your information?" she took a deep breath "We understand moving can be difficult but we do need some more medical paper work and such."
Yavonne smiled and knew by the look of the woman the expression didn't at all come out as she had hopped "I actually have the rest of it with me, signed and dated. I guess our phones don't get service here, so they have to go to the cell phone company here."
the woman laughed quietly and Yavonne knew she had struck yet another cord that seemed to resonate with most towns people here. "Oh yes, it's so inconvenient, and they can charge whatever they want to, limited options and all." Yavonne gave a nod and handed over her remaining paperwork eager for the interaction to end.
the woman hummed as the took it and shooed Yavonne away with her hands "Alright then, go on back to class, thanks for this." Yavonne nodded, wasting no time in leaving, though she had no intention of returning to class at all.
Why would she? there was 10 minutes left which meant by now the students were packing up their things, waiting for the bell while the teacher undoubtedly drawled on in conversation. only a few classes were an exception to this model, and those teachers who led them were considered strict. to be honest Yavonne preferred those fewer personal classes, but today her goal was simple, make him see her. she didn't know why she wanted to get a good look at him, or..rather for him to get a good look at her. she avoided most other people, talked when she needed to.
the point of all of this was to coast through the middle, which meant being quiet and not standing out, but also not standing out due to her quietness. it was a tricky balancing act, as people here had the habit of drawing out what could be short hellos into unwanted long interactions. All of her plans aside she couldn't help but want to know him. whoever he was. she didn't even know his name yet, just his face. that wonderful expressive face always set in a frown even when he laughed. He was never alone it seemed, but looked rather lonely, never fully happy but also not sad. she always saw him, picked his face out of a crowd as if he were a source of light, though there was nothing overtly positive about him. her early morning walks were spent thinking of him, and so now she was breaking her own rules. Not with any intention of cultivating a blossoming romance fit for a novel, but to fill this void of curiosity surrounding the stranger. Yavonne of course believed in Fate, in omens and destiny and all that went with it, but maybe her only job here was to ride him until that handsome smile met his eyes. A duty she could undoubtedly get behind.
So, with that mental image she positioned herself right outside the door she often saw him come out of after this period. she leaned her shoulders back against the wall, propped one foot up behind her and got out her phone to play on it. it felt like years before the bell rang, even as she reminded herself that it couldn't be more than 5 minutes, she fought the urge to go wander the halls while she waited.
Sure enough when the annoying chimes sounded, students flooded the halls, and she practiced scanning the faces while pretending to look at her phone. There he was, tall and dark haired with earthy looking blue green eyes, swirls of brown marking a path around his deep Iris's. he looked best in black, which is what he wore today. she smiled a bit to herself but could not help the initial flood of panic that coursed through her as he strolled to the locker she stood beside. she knew he had been tall, but up close she realized he was truly a perfect size, she came right up to his chest. the panic subsided as she took the opportunity to really get a good look at him, the curve of his big lips and the way his eyebrow raised in question..a question for her..as to why she was staring.
Just to Say It Iyla Ordia was dead. Beyond any repair or hope she was gone before Iyla even opened her eyes. Gone and she had given her last day to protect her and her sister. All of this because of 1 woman that Iyla was sure was perfect. She couldn't comprehend it all. Rehida was the responsible for Thalia’s attack, but why? All of this was rushing through her mind, even as Connor sat her down under a tree to go help Koin and Thalia do whatever they were actually doing. She couldn't bring herself to ask. After everything she and Ordia had suffered together, she was taken away so quickly Iyla hadn't even had time to know it before she was no more. Thalia was on the phone with someone, talking quickly, Iyla watched her, her thoughts still moving backwards to that terrible place. The strange creature told her that she would server the Gods by serving her or him. Then Thalia dropped in, and the creature actually ran to hide. It gave an earie laugh, too much air and not enough feel
What Beauty Can Disguise Koin He and Connor had taken their seats again, watching from a distance as his mother moved around the circle with some kind of herb, smoke wafting from it in heavy plumes as she whispered something. Then Ordia came into view, slowly, studying Rehida. Connor sat up a little "Over here" He whisper yelled to her, but she never looked in their direction. She was very focused on what Rehida was doing, her eyes moving over the circle slowly. A strange sort of energy was beginning to build, even Connor could feel it and they both stood "Hey? What’s going on?" Connor called out, understandably feeling panicked. Rehida stopped moving to look up to her and the two locked eyes. "Traitor. Thief. I know your name now. I know what you've done. What you would like to do." Ordeia told her. Koin stepped forward ready to interfere with whatever battle was taking place when his mother’s face twisted into a sneer, an almost inhuman expression, the corners of her lips pulli
Till The Worldly Grave is DugIylaShe had been dreaming about the ocean, her and Connor along with Thalia and Koin all just enjoying a long beach day, making sandcastles and learning awkwardly, to surf. They had their first kiss. Their first beautiful, magical, perfect kiss. Then it was night. That quickly. She closed her eyes as he kissed her, opened them and she was alone with the stary night sky above her. It was amazing, but she noticed something floating out on the waves, rising with each crest. It appeared to be a body!! She screamed for help, but no one was coming. She couldn’t remember why, but she wouldn't waist time. She ran out into the shallows of the shore and dove into the deeper water to swim out and try to grab onto the body, but she could no longer see it. The waves were getting much bigger now, she couldn't manage it anymore. One wave would lift her then crash her down into the depths and by the time she resurfaced to take in a breath another wave would slam down o
Like Bones Digging Deep Thalia This whole situation was making her skin crawl. Iyla had talked to her weeks before hand about how her venture into the dream scape was her first try, and if Ordia hadn't been there she probably would have been to scared to go for it. Sure, Iyla was a little reckless, but usually her misbehavior was due to curiosity, not an outright want for danger. Why would she have just randomly gone for a walk? How had Rehida known so quickly? She couldn't get her mind to shut down for a long time, no matter how many deep breaths she took, something about what was happening was far more unsettling than their main focus. Iyla had been in the dream state all day, it was hard telling how far away she was, Thalia could only hope that these last few days with Koin and feeling grounded would center her enough for her to also find her way back. Her biggest help was the fact that Thalia had taken walks at least twice a week for the past few years, the dream scape was nea
Respect Your Elders KoinHe couldn't even begin to understand, the things his mother was describing mine as well have been in a completely different language. He still felt Connors panic, and Thalia’s as well. Connor sat on Iylas right side holding her hand while others rushed around, Thalia had scooted to put Ilya’s head in her lap and stroked her hair. All he could do was go get the things his mom requested and watch. He knew the basics, that these women could somehow disconnect their minds and metaphysical bodies to move around freely in the world, he had seen Thalia do it herself, catching him being a pervert the day she was brought here. What he did find odd was that Ordia had left and not returned. Ordia had been like a grandmother for Iyla, and from what he understood had practically finished raising her after the attack on their village. Why would she not want to be here helping. Finally, as dusk settled in Rehida ordered most everyone away, except Thalia, Connor, Koin an
Of Shadows in Dreams Connor School sucked without Iyla now, he never noticed before how much people complained. The adults and the kids all just had negative things to say. There seemed to be no actual escape from it. All day long. I'm tired. I have a headache. I'm bored. My phones dead and I don’t have a charger. I stayed up all night talking to my boyfriend so now I can’t keep my eyes open. It was never ending, and how did he not catch on before he met her? It was like no one could see the good in the day at all. Before going home, he and Koin stopped at a grocery store and he went in to get a little bouquet of sunflowers, some chocolates and a movie. Even if she couldn’t go to school they could be lazy in bed, he even preordered pizza to pick up on the way home. Only when he got home she was out. He snuck in and put the flowers on her bedside table before going to set up the little living room with extra pillows and throw blankets he had brought over from the main house. Ordia
Familiar Noises Thalia She was in some cave, a massive circular space with tunnels all around, at least 6. Someone is there. She can hear them faintly whisper. She can see the light of the fire reflecting off the wet stone, but every time she turns her head to look the flames and the form have moved, just shadow against the light. “Red is the rose which petals wilt, Red are these hands,Red the life blood, Blood of body, Blood of family, Blood these roots like bones digging deep.”The voice sounded familiar, but not at the same time, maybe once beautiful but it was now a sickly tone, a hissing whisper as if the words to bold to take real sound. Then she woke up. She gasped in breaths as reality settled on her, the cool morning air sneaking in the window. Koin was getting dressed by the closet and he smiled seeing her "Good morning." He came over slowly to kiss her head, but at the last moment she tilted her chin up and let his lips meet hers instead of her temple. He chuckled
Freaks at FestivalsIyla She would've settled for having her sister back and living pretty much anywhere but Louisiana. How could life get any better? Not only did she live in a beautiful place with great people, but she had a boyfriend!! He was the best; he was funny and smart and could toss her around like she weighed nothing. He even let her sit on his shoulders to pick cherry’s. Ordia liked it here too, her job was to help run the little day care down the hill while pack members did their usual daily work. If only Thalia was better and could come hang out with her, but she was having fun doing her hair in the mornings, Thalias hair was thick and curly and held so many tones of warm red and brown. She always liked her own hair, but it was kind of boring, always straight, never held a curl, or hairstyles either. School was great too, but Koin was always in a bad mood, and Connor became very serious when they walked through the doors also. She knew why, they were looking for whoev
The Foreboding Koin He couldn't believe his life was actually playing out the way that it was. Everything seemed perfect. Thalia was finally no longer fighting him, maybe she didn't talk constantly and divulge her whole life’s story, but she didn't push him away anymore, didn't try to run away with him. Every day he got to hold her, not just when she was crying. Every day they had breakfast and dinner together. Everyday felt like a dream come true, and while he wished she wasn't hurt, he was oddly enjoying taking care of her. To add to the blissful peace that had come into his life, his brother was more than happy. Ilya was just the girl for him and watching Connor stair at her dreamily made him chuckle often. He was like a goofy love-struck puppy dog. He felt a blossom of hope when Connor told him Iyla had not only seen his wolf but looked forward to hanging out with him in wolf form. He could only dream that Thalia will be so in love with Azier, cause the big guy was all about he
