Alex, inside the infirmary, sat up in his bed, his muscles twitching with renewed strength. The scent of antiseptic filled the air in his private room, but beneath that clinical smell, Alex could detect the subtle fragrance of pine and earth wafting in through the open window. He flexed his fingers, feeling a surge of energy ripple through him—energy that he hadn’t felt in weeks.
