Chapter 8

At that moment, I trembled with anger.

For six whole years, I had lived in deep suffering, silently bearing a guilt that didn’t belong to me.

And now, she told me it was all just an act.

All my unwillingness and grievances transformed into a roar.

Unfortunately, no one could hear it.

No matter how furious I was, they couldn’t feel it.

Mom and Dad were so shocked that they could barely stand. My sister hurriedly supported them, looking at them in confusion.

In the midst of this standoff, the doorbell suddenly rang.

My sister instantly perked up, running to the door and opening it.

A man with gold-rimmed glasses stood outside, looking gentle and refined.

My sister took his hand and brought him to our parents, shyly introducing him, "Mom, Dad, this is my boyfriend. I came back to tell you that we’re planning to get married!"

Mom forced a smile, while Dad wore a serious expression.

No one knew that, out of their sight, I was trembling in fear.
