Chapter 7

My dad’s eyes reddened. He grabbed my sister's hand and pulled her into his embrace.

His hand gently stroked her hair, again and again.

I felt envy welling up in my eyes. God knows how much I had longed for his hugs and touches over the past six years.

But he and Mom only looked at me with disgust, telling me to get lost.

Mom also cried as she stepped forward to hug my sister, their happy appearance stabbed at my heart.

It pierced me so much that tears came to my eyes.

Mom gently patted my sister's back and pretended to complain, saying, "Jessica, where have you been these years? Your dad and I have been searching for you so hard!"

My sister, in their embrace, lowered her head in shame and mumbled, "Mom and Dad, I'm sorry! I got pregnant unexpectedly and was afraid you would scold me, so I didn't dare to come home. I was too selfish, but I was really scared back then and didn’t know what to do."

Mom and Dad were stunned, looking at her in surprise.
