My soul trembled slightly. Was the truth finally going to be revealed?

The scalpel in my father's hand fell to the ground with a crisp sound.

I looked up, feeling extremely surprised.

I had thought about what expression he would have.

Indifferent, unconcerned, perhaps with a hint of pity.

I never imagined I would see pain on his face.

At that moment, I felt a flicker of emotion.

All the suffering I had endured over the years, the resentment born from unfairness towards them, evaporated in an instant.

I trembled, wanting to embrace him, but my fingers passed through his chest.

Just as tears were about to fall, I heard him murmuring, "Jessica."

I froze in place, immediately understanding that the pain in his eyes was not for me.

After days of high temperatures and soaking rain, my body was now rotting and emitting a foul stench.

Yet my father rushed over without hesitation, collapsing onto the pile of decayed flesh, crying uncontrollably.
