CHAPTER 2️⃣

*The Missing Bat*

The full moon that night was one of a kind. Mara, Katherine and Dawn walked briskly to school. Everywhere looked calm and quiet. 

Katherine walks a few meter away from Dawn and Mara. She held her little bat in her arms. 

"I heard a lot of wolves entered Vamville last night."Dawn said. He could feel the cold sweat moving down his spine. Walking to the night school is always scary especially when you do not have any stronger vampire with you. The wolves are not the only thing to be scared of, the stronger vampires are also scary.

"The vampires won the fight though"Mara said. She may look weak but a part of her isn't so scared of the wolves. She walks with a visible boldness.

"Yes, I know but don't you think we might be attacked?, And we still have a long way to go this night."Dawn said with his heart pounding loudly. Mara could hear it.

"You need to stop being such a cry baby."Katherine said. She must have heard their discussion even if they tried so hard to speak in whispers. Katherine has a nice way of listening to people. At times she may even hear your thoughts.

"How does that concern you?"Dawn asked. He and Katherine has never been on a good side.

"There are no werewolf in Vamville."She answered angrily.

"Werewolves do not exist in Vamville!"She screamed loudly, then let out a devilish laughter. Her voice echoed causing Mara and Dawn to shrink in fear.

"Are you scared?"She asked as she walks slowly to them.

"don't be scared,"She said mockingly.

"Even you Mara"She said picking on Mara's weak point.

"What makes you think that am weak?"Mara asked as she moves backward.

"I said... There are no werewolves in Vamville!!!"She screamed even more louder than before.

Her voice echoed more this time. The moment her echo stopped, a wolf howl was heard.

"What's that?"Dawn said as he goes close to Mara.

"I have no idea but it sounds more like a wolf."Mara said. She pushed Dawn behind her in order to protect him.

"What are you both doing?."Katherine let out a loud laugh, "are you both really afraid of that sound?"

"Katty, be careful, this place seems dangerous."Mara warned.

"Don't you dare call me Katty!"Katherine screamed.

She walks slowly to Mara and Dawn. She points her finger at Mara and said, "you are not one of the Balcoin so don't!...you!...dare!...call!...me!....that!!!"

Another wolf howl was heard, this time a little bit louder and nearer. The three kids tremble in fear. The wolf sound made Katherine's pet fly away into the woods.

"Get him Mara, quickly do something"Katherine cried as the little pet fly away.

"He's gone Katherine, let's get out of here"Mara and Dawn made to walk away.

"Am gonna cut myself and tell Dad that you did it."Katherine said.

"Katty"Dawn called softly. He was too afraid to stand there. The fear can even make him pee on his pants.

"Katherine..."

"Miss Katherine precisely"Katherine corrected Mara with style.

Mara sighed "Miss Katherine, I can't go in there. It's too dangerous "

"Okay suit yourself"Katherine said and was about to bite herself.

"Wait, okay, I'll find it"Mara said bitting her lips anxiously in fear.

"I have no idea why you are doing this Katty"Dawn said. He was already weak to his knee. He looked around from time to time to be sure that no wolf was around.

"Keep quiet, you little b i t c h"Katherine caused loudly.

Mara ignored her and walked into the woods. Katherine and Dawn watched till she was out of sight.

"Let's keep going"Katherine said to Dawn. She grabbed his hands but Dawn refused to move.

"What about Mara?, Aren't we supposed to wait for her?"Dawn asked.

"Why do you behave so soft?. Mara will come to school once she finds my pet"Katherine kept dragging Dawn. 

💎IN THE WOODS💎

Mara kept walking with her head up. She made sure to walk quietly so as not to disturb the wolves and stronger vampires in the wood. She knew there was no way to find the bat that night. She kept searching around quietly.

"Looking for this?"A voice said.

Mara quickly halted on a spot. All that filled her thoughts were werewolves. She slowly closed her eyes and turned her head in fear.

"Please don't kill me"Mara begged as she went down on her knee with her head bowed.

"Why would I hurt a beautiful vampire?"The voice said again.

Mara lift her head up and was shocked to see a tall, built and handsome vampire standing right in front of her. She immediately clean the dirt off her clothes as she stands up.

"Am Zane, and you are?"He asked. He held the little bat on his palm.

"Mara..Mara Balcoin" Mara replied almost immediately. She was happy that someone has found the bat.

"I found this wandering about in the air."He handed to bat to Mara.

"Thanks"Mara said as she looked at the bat with a smile on her face.

"Did you say you are from the Balcoin coven?"He asked.

"Yes"Mara replied. She was engrossed in checking if the bat belonged to Katherine or not.

"Mara Balcoin, I only know of Katherine Balcoin and Dawn Balcoin"Zane said thoughtfully.

Mara's eyes widen, "em... No, maybe you heard wrong, it's Batloin not Balcoin"

"Oh!, Cos my family is quite close to the Balcoins and I have a thing for their daughter."

"Oh... Am Mara Batloin, what coven are you from?"Mara asked.

"Treme coven, Zane Treme"Zane replied.

"Oh!"Mara exclaimed. She has heard of the Treme coven but has never met someone from the Treme.

"It's nice meeting a vampire from another coven"Mara said with a smile. Zane wasn't just handsome, he also looked like one of the stronger vampires.

"I have never heard of the Batloin coven before."Zane said. He repeatedly looked at Mara's face.

"My coven is not that famous"Mara tried to cover up her lie.

"Aren't you from Vamville?"Zane asked. They are now walking out of the woods. 

"I am"Mara replied as she playfully put the pet on her shoulder.

"Every coven in Vamville is famous, I know almost all the covens in Vamville."Zane said. He suspected her words to be lies.

"Maybe you don't know about my coven"Mara said. Her heart was pounding, she doesn't want him to know her coven. Her owners won't take it lightly if her identity is exposed.

"Where are you off to?"Zane asked.

"The night school"Mara answered.

"Are you weak?"Zane asked. She doesn't look so weak, apart from when they first met.

"Em... I shouldn't be talking to you. If you don't mind I'll take my leave"Mara said. She begin running towards the road.

"How about we meet again?, I'd like us to meet again"Zane shouted as she run but she ignored him until she was out of sight.

"I'll find out who you are"He said to himself. He looked down at the bracelet on his hand. It is made of pure diamond and only prestigious shewolves are seen with diamond bracelet.

"She smells like a vampire not a wolf, then why does she carry this around?"He asked himself. He had taken the bracelet off her hands while giving her the bird.

♥️THE WEREWOLF PARK🔘

Conri laid on his mother's lap. She continuously stroke his hair with her palm. The silence was pleasing to her. She so much loved this son of hers than the second. The second, Cornell was her late husband's favourite. Cornell grew with the wicked heart of his father and he is more stronger than his brother Conri. But Conri is a complete opposite of her husband and her character like son.

She sips from her cup of herbal tea. Her health started deroitating the moment her husband's death got to her ear. She has suspected Cornell to be the main suspect for his death. 

"Mum"Conri called in a baby like tone. 

"Yes"Elisabeth replied.

"Where's my mate?"Conri asked. Elisabeth stopped stroking his hair. She was shocked at the question he asked. She and her husband had tried everything to hide the prophecy from him.

"Who told you about the prophecy?"She asked after a long sigh.

"What prophecy?, I only saw her in the mating book. She asked for my help."He said. He placed his mum's hand on his head so she could continue stroking his hair.

"The mating book?, She's Mara Balcoin. She's the daughter of your grandfather's best friend who's a vampire. She was born when he had an affair with a shewolf."Elisabeth explained as she continues stroking his hair.

"So I have to go to Vamville?"He raise his head up quickly.

"Yes"Elisabeth replied with a smile.

"What is mother and child always discussing?"Cornell asked as he walked into the room.

"Why do you care?"Conri fired back at him. He hated his brother for his selfishness.

"Hey, chill bro. I only came to relay a good news"Cornell said.

"What news?"Elisabeth asked. She knew it was something against conri. She always felt insecure around Cornell especially when he is with his father.

"There's a way you can go to Vamville without getting caught"Cornell said with a broad smile.

"How?"Conri sat up. He is open to any possible way to go to Vamville.

"The high priest recommend werepires ritual. It will clean away your werewolf scent and you'll smell like a vampire."Cornell explained.

"Wow, that's nice."Conri said thoughtfully.

"I'll take my leave then since I am not needed."Cornell made his way to the door.

"You killed your father right?"Elisabeth asked. She has tried not to ask him but she could no longer hold it in.

"Why do you ask?"Cornell said with his back still facing his mum and Conri.

"Answer me you de vil"Elisabeth cursed softly.

"What if i did?"He asked with a wicked smile on his face...
