She had never expected to be in this predicament right now, she never knew that the man would move so fast. The whole throne room was now filled with different kinds of ingredients, starting from vegetables, fruits, meat, poultry up to the spices and root crop, besides that the pots, pans, and cauldron were set up along with a hearth, and a makeshift oven was also built along with it, it only took them half a day to have it all placed in there, even the fresh pigs blood was readily available together with a whole pig that was neatly prepared on a nearby table.
It was already midmorning so Karilaya had plenty of time to rest up, but she did not expect that her whole trial would proceed immediately.
“Well, what are you waiting for? Cook!” lord Aizenberg howled as she just stood there.
Karilaya was still a bit dazed from being woken up while in the dungeon and then being brought once again in the throne room onl
Prince Alexander could not remove his eyes off of the lady, finely handling the knife as she cut and slice. It was like he was watching a maiden dance to a natural rhythm while moving within the make-shift kitchen that they had made. She was like this fairy twirling around her little kingdom, making the fire burn with life and the food smell with hypnotic aroma. The prince was so enthralled that he did not notice that he was smiling under his helmet, all the while watching the maiden finish up her dish. His little personal world was only disturbed when all of a sudden he felt lord Aizenberg move about just beside him as the maiden was already preparing the food on a plate.“I don’t think you should eat it, my lord, this woman might have done something to it without us knowing,” lord Aizenberg whispers, looking wary and a bit worried as the maiden in question was now finishing her dish.“Lord
Whispers, this was all that Karilaya could hear from where she was sitting. She couldn’t understand what the three men were saying to one another as she was a bit too far and she couldn’t move from where she was because all eyes were still basically at her.Her palms were sweating and her body felt so cold just being in front of the three men, she knew she was still under trial, seeing as how the men looked at her, what she could not understand is what was the reason why they seem to be so secretive even to the people around them.Deep in thought, Karilaya was startled when finally the three men had stopped talking to one another and began moving.“Everyone out!” the commander hollered making everyone move in a single line as they marched out of the whole throne room.Only Karilaya, the Black Knight, and his two advisers and three fully plated soldiers were left inside. Even t
Karilaya stood frozen when she realized where she was, so many things came playing inside her mind. Was she found out, do they know her, why exactly was she here, and for what reason? Those were the things that kept plaguing her mind when she was finally left within the confines of one of the royal guest rooms of the castle. Though the place seemed the same, several things had been removed such as their banner and a few others things that showed the Lushan heritage and replaced with western empires. Karilaya suddenly felt defeated right now, being caught halfway through it all, she could not understand how she ended up in that situation though she was so careful. She took a peek at the terrace, three guards were stationed just below all looked well trained and were fully armored, she then proceeded to move towards the door silently and carefully nudging the door’s knob, it clanked but did not open.
“It seems you are not what you say you are. So tell me, who are you exactly,” the captain asks, as they were now threading the castle halls. It was already late afternoon and the sun was high up in the sky, besides that there were a ton of soldiers that were either patrolling around or standing guard on every corner of the place, so it wasn’t much of a problem for her walking along with the captain without a chaperon, besides the fact that she was still hiding her identity not to mention that even though she knows that the man was an enemy soldier she could not remove the reality that he has saved her before gaining her trust.“I am but a servant sire,” she answers making sure not to make eye contact with the man, remembering her nana’s advice a while ago.“The commander and the royal adviser actually have a different opinion on that,” the captain says giving her that trick
“There’s currently a debate of whether you pose a danger to the prince or not, and if the leaders find out you are well versed in magic, that’s just going to make it even more complicated for the two of us since I did speak for you after all,” captain Maxwell admitted, forcing a laugh.Though it sounded like a big problem, the man did not show any fear at all as his face remained straight and seemingly unbothered but Karilaya could feel that tension that was seeping out of the man as he would sometimes end up in silence while they were walking.“Why...Why would you do that for me sire,” she could not help but say, feeling a bit guilty seeing as the man was being troubled.Captain Maxwell turned to her with an amused look, raising one brow as he smirked. “It is a knight's duty, to keep a lady safe, is it not,” he says with a playful tone.Though there ha
The full moon gave a mesmerizing blue glow that night, lighting up the whole kingdom from where she was. It was as if everything was like before if only there wasn’t so much misery and suffering that could be seen right now. From where she was the princess could see a lot of houses still left abandoned, broken, and burnt, people could be seen wandering around several parts of the town, scavenging for whatever food they could find, all the while trying to fend for themselves as some parts of the walls were broken down and the magical barrier was no longer there, allowing some of the beast to enter the town.Though the imperial guards would handle them every now and then, seeing as they do not bother to fix the walls only end up causing chaos and fear when night comes, as everyone no longer feels safe.Karilaya’s deep thought was only disturbed when she heard three loud thuds on the door, turning towards it she
“My lady, get back,” Soraya pushed her aside as the soldiers began attacking the human-like figures that were made of light.Focusing her energy on her eyes after chanting the words, “show me the light!” A pentagram sigil began forming on her pupils like an added layer on it, it allowed her to see how the beings around them were being created. It would start with a sort of riffle on a certain location, which would either be the floor, ceiling, or the wall, followed by the appearance of a light that had a spherical form of a specific size, then a figure would suddenly emerge from the light, starting from the head and would slowly rising up.There was something oddly familiar about them, every time they turn to dust the energy that surges from their bodies was faintly brushing on her skin. They were not living beings that was for sure, but they were not spirits either. Though she was using a special
Karilaya had not been able to sleep that day, bothered and curious as to what exactly was those white warriors made of light. The beings were numerous and almost unstoppable, yet they instantly disappeared when dawn came, the magic was somewhat familiar but it was also unknown to her which just aroused her curiosity even more. “My lady, are you sure you have everything you need?” That warm deep voice woke the princess from her deep thought. Karilaya quickly turned to the man and was wide-eyed seeing him leaning down on her, having that curious look on his face, a bit amused with the lady being lost within the thralls of her mind. “Uh, yes,” she quickly answers when she felt her blood rise up to her face in embarrassment. Returning her gaze to the table she tried to busy herself with flipping pages of several books that were scattered there. As per request, she was allowed to go to the roya
As Karilaya proved she could handle basic politics and affairs of the land, she gained the head advisers, along with the magical council’s favor, being dubbed as the true empress of the Draconian Empire. And they state it in the imperial rule. She took over all of Alexander’s duties, allowing the man to focus on raising their sons. The man taught the boys everything he knew, from combat, control their forms, and learning the ways of their kind.A year more had passed, and they were finally ready to proceed with her coronation.Having healed from all of their wounds, Karilaya finally agreed to marry the emperor, which puts them in their current situation. With the land no longer tormented by the changing weather, the people at peace, and the kingdom once again flourishing. It was now time to go to the western lands to have her crowned and legitimatized as the sole wife of t
The people felt a bit more at ease with the empire; they no longer had any qualms, especially after everybody found out that their princess was now the empress and would still be the one to rule them. She lowered the taxes enough for all of them to get by, not just for their area but also for the entire western continent that was under them, so that it wouldn’t cause too much strain on everyone.Trading between the west and their lands went on smoothly, allowing more products to come back and forth.“Good morning your majesty!”People greeted as they walk pass by them. Karilaya waved at them in reply. She and the others were currently viewing the restoration of the old kingdoms’ fields. After they had cleared the trees, the earth was now being plowed to prepare it for farming. Everyone was helping, including a few of th
Having control over all the things in the kingdom, it didn’t take long before Karilaya had finally turned matters around.Repairs on the capital were going smoothly. All the previous actions she wanted to be done, like the re-aligning of the seals within the entire city, were no longer an issue, since fear of using her magic did not restrain her.It was the reason she now felt it was the right time to proceed with restoring their lands to how it was.“Your majesty, are you sure it will be safe to remove the coven from their bonds this instant?” the old adviser asks. The man was with her, together with her own guards, since she sent the others to handle things around the kingdom for this momentous day.“Yes, mistress Moryana and the headmaster are already in place. I stationed Kirei and everyone else in each village outside to make su
In just two days, that was all it took for the combined might of the imperial army and Aselaysian soldiers to rally up every single person who Soraya has pointed out to be instigating a rebellion into their hands.Facing them now was lord Sander Lee. Face broken, bloody, and full of tears. The man was groveling in front of Karilaya, who was on the throne beside the Draconian emperor. She moves to her side in order to get closer to the Alexander. “Did you beat them to death?” she whispers to him.Seeing how beaten and wounded the old lords were, she could not help but feel a bit of remorse for letting the man handle things.“No,” he shrugs.“Then why do they look like that?” she points out.Lord Sander Lee’s face was so inflated that he was unrecognizable, while some could no longer keep themselv
“Why do you doubt him?” It was the childish little voice that whispered in her mind. She was currently contemplating with the Horomid all the while looking out into the palace’s terrace. She wanted to get at least an insight from her guardian spirits about what to do, knowing that somehow they may clear her thoughts.“Because he has lied to me before. And I am afraid that all of this is but another farce,” she says.Feeling that ache inside her chest, still fearing that the man might betray her again.“Did you also not deceive him?” the sweet female voice whispered.Karilaya could not help but grumble. “I did that to protect myself.”“What makes your mistake more forgivable than his? A lie is a lie no matter how you make it,” the annoying spirit mocked, letting out a laugh after.
After finally having time for themselves, all Alexander would do was to cuddle and hug her. The man clung to her the moment they got returned to their room. Cooing and giving her kisses on the neck.“Your Majesty, you need to rest,” she scolds. Feeling his hands wandering all over her body. They were already in bed, getting ready to sleep after tucking the boys into their rooms. Her back was facing him, so he was spooning her while they laid on there.“I have plenty of strength reserved just for you,” Alexander cooed in her ears. She felt herself shiver, sensing that ticklish jolt inside of her. His hands were already touching those sensual areas of her. Playfully rubbing his fingers on her skin.“Alex!” she hissed, slapping off his hand, feeling him pinching some of her sensitive parts.“Come on, Kaya. I promise I wo
They caught Lord Drake by surprise upon their arrival. Making his uncle gape in disbelief at seeing her lady with him at that moment. He kept looking at him with questioning looks, asking for why he’d let the woman be there.“Your majesty, I do not think this is safe,” He says.Alexander almost laughed, cause he knew that his beloved was very much capable of handling herself in there, having removed her restraints and all.“Uncle, have you not met her yet? Or have you forgotten the mother of my children?” He smirks at the man, trying to give him the idea of who he was with. But before lord Drake could even recognize his lady, Kaya had already done a curtsy in front of him.“It’s a pleasure to meet you, lord Galford Drake. I have to commend that your men are quite the formidable opponents on the battlefield that even I wasn’t able to
Tired, wounded, and starving, Alexander still kept watch over his sons. He could tell by their breathing that all of them were still awake. Resting, planning, and waiting for the right time to strike.“Your majesty, it would be best if you take this time to rest up.” Lord Drake says. His uncle had finished tying up Giro. After he had broken free a while ago. It’s the second time within the day which was making him frustrated. He never thought it would be that hard to keep the boys in check with his power, but seeing as he couldn’t go all out on his children for fear of harming them just made it more difficult.“I’m good, uncle.”He took that time to take a rest, sitting on the floor in front of the boy’s cell. Munching on the bread that the servants brought a while ago.Though he wanted to eat meat, the smell of it always ended up w
Soraya kept her senses sharp. Looking around, all the while keeping her gaze on the knights who stood guarding them. She could not understand why they were suddenly being taken care of like that. They healed their wounds, gave back their weapons and armor. They even fed them to where they were all satisfied. They also mixed the captive villagers with their soldiers, making them look like a bunch of cattle being herded inside the outer castle. She knew that all of it had to have a reason and it was not just for show nor for their so-called friendly gesture. She’d hardly consider them having any, experiencing how cruel and barbaric they were. There was something behind of it all which she could not put her foot on it.It alerted Soraya seeing the soldiers move in a straight line, posing at the ready when they saw a line of well-dressed people coming their way.
