Amanda had the impression, even just a little, that she could somehow be civil to Keith in the future. It’s just a thought. A spur of the moment. It’s the good side of her that still wanted to make things right even if he had wronged her deeply. But seeing his existence right now, invalidates everything good she wanted to do.
If looks could kill, he’s probably dead on that spot right now.
Anger rose inside of her at the sight of Keith Harris. How dare he show his arrogant face to her again?
Wasn’t he the one who wanted her gone? Now, what’s his deal showing in front of her as if he had still every right to do so?
Keith tried to reach her, moving a step forward. On instinct, Amanda retreated a few steps back. She shook her head at him, her eyes were filled with tears once more as her hate for the man exceeded her grief.
Amanda can’t believe herself that she could loathe someone this hard. It was all his fault that she experienced these misfortunes one after another!
“Leave, when I can still hold my anger, Keith,” she said, her eyes were murderous with the intent to harm Keith if he moved any closer.
“A—manda,” Keith sighed as he tried to find the words. He looked utterly defeated. “I am sorry for what happened to your parents—”
“I don’t need your pity,” her words were sharp. She needs to stand her ground before him. And she will not retaliate anymore. “In fact your presence was never welcome here…”
“So if I were you, you will leave this place and you will never show your face to me again. Ever!”
Amanda turned around and walked towards Alma’s car. Her best friend was probably waiting for her inside the car. Maybe Alma hadn’t noticed Keith since she’s still pretty far from the parking lot. If her best friend does, Keith will not leave this place unscathed.
But a strong hand held her hand that made her stop on her tracks. Amanda looked back to see Keith who was the impudent who dared touch her!
Next thing she knew, her palm landed on his face hard. Keith’s head turned to the other side due to the sudden impact. He was stunned for a second before he turned to her.
“You have no right to touch me with your filthy hands!” Amanda hissed at him. “We are already divorced…”
“You have no business to me as I am to you. Be gone, Keith!”
However, Keith was a pushover. He took her hand again and again even if she shoved it off.
“What else do you want?” She was getting impatient. The audacity of this man to appear before her after all he’d done.
How shameless! If Keith was still expecting that same old Amanda that will freely submit herself to whatever he wishes, then dream on! That part of her was already dead, buried alongside the bodies of her parents.
She’s not that Amanda anymore. The misfortunes had taken a toll on her, made her realize she can’t be the same person anymore. If she wants to stay sane and alive in this cruel world, change is constant.
And among the plans she wanted to accomplish, seeing her ex-husband begged for mercy was one of her agenda.
They were already over when he chose that woman over her. She was no longer Mrs. Keith Harris. His presence doesn't matter to her anymore. She viewed Keith as a nuisance, nothing but a mere sore in her eyes.
Keith was almost pleading. “Please, Amanda…”
“Can we atleast talk?”
“Talk? What else do we have to talk about?” Amanda looked at him with that ridiculous look. “
Please, just leave already. I’m tired of everything that happened. I need to take some rest.”
“Let’s talk about us, Amanda,” Keith compelled her, his grip never even loosened a bit. “We need to…”
“I know this is not the right time but, you and I, we have a lot of things to talk about.”
Keits was always domineering, always setting his personal interest over others. She never won over him even on the slightest of things before. His words and decisions were absolute inside and outside of their home. But that was before when she was still the naive wife who abided truly to the wishes of her husband.
Amanda couldn’t help but to wonder what was happening to him. Keith will never resort to acting helpless in front of her. He was too proud for that.
It bothered her that Keith exerted effort just to seek her for this reason. Then a horrible idea almost petrified her on the spot, her eyes widened on the realization.
Did he, by any chance, learn about her pregnancy? On instinct, she held her still small lump with her free hand. All the hatred she felt at the moment was gone and was replaced by fear not for her life but for her baby.
With his power and wealth, Keith could impose anything in just a snap of his fingers. And Amanda, even if she will have to go against the world, would master all her strength to protect the child inside of her. She would never let anyone, even her ex-husband, to hurt the child. She’ll protect her child even if it costs her life!
Even Keith had the change of heart knowing about her pregnancy, Amanda thought it was too late. She’ll never let the man use the child on his schemes or to take advantage of him or her. Her ex-husband was incapable of caring for someone unless they have some worth. In her experience, Keith had treated her that way. At least, maybe he faked those three years of marriage being happy with her out of consideration for their arranged marriage.
Amanda won’t let Keith monopolize her life again.
She looked at Keith’s eyes for the first time. His blue eyes were never expressive towards her. She always felt it was a little bit cold. Now, his eyes showed fear. Keith was being desperate.
Amanda can’t believe that she had fallen for the likes of him. Indeed love was blind. Or rather she perceived her fondness for the man as love rather than a mere infatuation. Now, the same man had ruined her and her idea of love.
Amanda was sure she would never love again in fear of the same outcome. She would never let herself fall in love so recklessly.
“Keith, you are wasting both of our time,” she said as she freed herself from his grasp. “Like I said, there’s nothing that we need to talk about.”
“You already put an end to our marriage. That means I don’t care about you anymore. You are nothing to me now.” And she left him without looking back and get inside Alma’s car.

Just what his grandfather has said, the said clause was written in one of the conditions in the contract.
Keith couldn’t believe what was written in the contract. He was dumbfounded when he read it and he didn’t know what to do especially with the clause that his grandfather had mentioned to him.
He really needed an heir. He felt that he was tricked with the given condition. He could only have an heir to Amanda, his first wife. How in the world did his grandfather think of that?
How did he not know about that? He felt so stupid. He suddenly remembered how he humiliated Amanda when she came into his office when she witnessed his unfaithfulness.
That was the time that he said words that he could have not said if he only knew that condition existed on the contract for him to take the highest position in the company.
Keith heaved a sigh as he thought about all of the things that had happened for the past few days. He never thought that after the divorce, he would be in such a miserable situation.
He checked the contract and it was definitely valid because it was signed by his grandfather. If he wouldn’t be able to give him an heir when he reached thirty, and that would be five years from now, the position as a CEO would be returned to his grandfather.
If an unfortunate event happened and his grandfather died, it was the only time that the clause would not be applied. He could take over without the heir from his first wife.
His mind was in turmoil. What was that for his grandfather? He didn’t know what was running in his head when he did the contract.
That was just ridiculous! Even though he wanted the CEO position so much, there was no way that he would kill his own grandfather for that.
That moment, Keith knew that there was no way for him but to swallow his pride and his ego. He needed to pursue Amanda back so he could get the position.
He expected her temper, at least. But earning her wrath was a surprise for Keith. He knew Amanda as an innocent woman, pure of naivety. That she was easy to take control of and she would obey any wishes he made. That’s how marriage life works for them.Watching her walk away felt something strange inside his chest. As if something with significance was with her as she departed from his life. Keith hadn’t thought Amanda with much worth other than his timid wife. And seeing her once more had triggered the feelings Keith didn't want to recognize.Amanda was long gone but he’s still staring at the end of the road where the car disappeared in the corner. He sighed and glanced at his wrist watch. It’s already half past four in the afternoon. He needed to leave soon and tried his luck of persuading his ex-wife some other time.Keith walked towards his car and brought out two small basket arrangements of white lilies and roses. He hadn’t had the chance to see his in-laws on their last day as
The next few days are exhausting. Amanda was relieved that Keith had finally given up pursuing her. She already cut ties to him, changed her number and won’t entertain any of his men coming to her doorstep delivering various luxury things. It’s the least that she wanted. She wanted her peace after the tragedy that happened to her and Keith was never part of it.As she’s in her first month of her pregnancy, being alone in her parent’s house was hard. Dealing with her morning sickness everyday can be weary at times. And she craved some food, bizarre combinations, and troubled her best friend a lot for finding them. All these changes she gladly accepted. She’s actually looking forward to experiencing the journey of her pregnancy. There’s nothing in this world that could excite her more than to see her baby after a couple of months from now. And she’ll do everything she can to bring him or her safe and healthy into this world. She already made an appointment to an Ob-gyne. Her doctor had
Deja vu. It’s what Amanda was feeling right now. The only difference was it wasn’t the same scenario as the last time. And she wasn’t at loss now unlike before when she met him.She felt uncomfortable looking at the man who once saved her life out of her stupidity. He’s the one who almost hit her with his black Maybach. It was raining at that moment. And Amanda really thought that it was the end for her.She hadn’t had the chance to thank him after he drove her to the nearest hospital just to see if she’s really okay. He paid all the expenses and even extended his efforts to send her back to her home.Amanda really thought that it was the last time she'd see the man. The fact that he’s Richard Rodriguez, the one who succeeds the position as the CEO of the Ferrer Properties, was one thing. To see him in person for her interview is totally another! Her confidence was gone and her heartbeat went into overdrive. She could almost hear her heartbeat into her ears. Amanda was intimidated by
That woman, what was she doing out here?“Are you saying something?” Alma got back to their table after she took her time in the restroom. She had this curioused look as she took her seat across from her.She brought her to a newly opened restaurant not so far from the Ferrer Properties. Alma insisted on using her car so Amanda left her own at the parking lot back in the said building. Her best friend had reprimanded her not to drive on her own since she’s pregnant. She was guilty about it and accepted all Alma had said shyly. They already gave their orders to the waiter and were waiting for their food to be served. Alma opted for some pasta while she requested something heavy. Somehow, Amanda felt starved after that interview with the CEO. And seeing that woman had made it worse. You know what they say, pregnant women should always be happy. And one of her happy pills was to satisfy her appetite from dusk till dawn. She shook her head and glanced at the window beside her. “No…nothing
Keith wasn’t his best lately. He should’ve known. His loss of focus had been noticed by his executives and employees. And it gives the bad impression that he was slacking off which was not the case. It’s just that there’s a certain woman who always messes up his mind all the time. And that certain woman wasn't supposed to be a bother to him at all!Beside the unrest he’s experiencing at the moment, he had to make it up with Sarah. He doesn't know what’s her deal but since that day, she has changed quite a bit. He could tell that something was off. And that his card can’t sufficer her anymore.Maybe she wanted some quality time. Keith admitted that he lost time with her. Or rather say, he can’t make time for her. And he was sorry that Sarah had to feel it that way.He had promised her the world. He had sworn to be there for her whenever possible. And it seems he’s been neglecting his duties as her man. So he needs to redeem himself and set his priorities straight. For quite awhile, Kei
Amanda forcefully wiped her mouth as if that would erase what Keith had done. Alma had been knocking the door consistently. She needs him to leave this instant before her best friend could tell something. “This is my last warning—”Irritated, Alma barged inside the house with her spare key and saw her with Keith in the living room. Before her best friend could react, Keith made a final say.“This will not be the last time you’ll see me, Amanda,” He shook his head while standing upfront her. “It won’t be…” his eyes hold promise that he intended to keep.“Goodbye for now.” and he walked past Alma and closed the door behind.Amanda was shaking from anger and fear combined. She bit her lower lip as she grabbed something hard to hold on. Alma came to her and held her hand. Her best friend was worried. Alma sounded frantic.“Amanda, hey! Are you alright?” Alma led her to one of their couches and made her sit so she could relax. Then she brought her a glass of water to drink. “What?”“Should
Amanda yawned as she reached for her alarm clock to stop it. With still half eyes closed, she glanced at the time. It’s already quarter to five in the morning. Alma would pick her up at around half past six. She still has time to prepare their breakfast before they start the day. After taking a quick shower, she wore her oversized shirt and undies so she could prepare breakfast. She cooked fried rice partnered with hotdogs, eggs, and bacon. For the beverages, her milk will never be out of the equation.Just when Amanda had wrapped up everything and the table was already set, she heard someone knocking the front door.Since that day, she thought she had developed some kind of trauma when someone knocked on the door. Amanda bought a door viewer and asked someone from her neighbors to put it up on her door. It added a sense of security for her. She had the option to buy CCTV cameras for better surveillance but she opted for a simple viewer.Amanda dry her hands with a clean towel before
Amanda was thinking it through. She would not want to associate herself with the CEO on her first day of work. Many could make a misunderstanding about it. It could lead to unnecessary rumour that she only got the jobs since she had the connections inside. And with the CEO?If only they knew what had happened? She meant even before the interview process.Yet even if she wanted to decline, she couldn’t possibly make him wait in the open. Again, anyone would think that she was too mighty to refuse such an offer from a man who drives a luxury car. Either way, she’ll be put in a bad position, so better take the route that will let her get home as soon as possible. With a heavy sigh, she opened the door and hopped inside his car.Maybe it was a bad decision after all. Amanda should have taken the taxi instead. Now that she's within his parameters, she couldn't help but get suffocated. His sheer presence alone in this confined space had that capacity to do so.Since their last encounter, Am
