It was a peaceful Sunday morning until a swarm of people started coming and going. A wedding is about to take place in a church in the downtown area. The chime of the bell indicates that the wedding ceremony is about to begin. Before God, a marriage is holy and sacred. It will be the moment when two people make their vows in front of God, promising to be faithful to each other until death separates them. At least once in a woman's life, she should be the queen of the day, and that day should be her wedding day. Wedding ceremonies are a union celebration of two families, so it should be a happy day for both the bride and groom. It is exquisitely crafted, personalized, customized, and joyfully presented.
Anna Rae never imagined herself marrying one of the country's wealthiest businessmen. She will officially be someone's wife after tonight, and there will be no way in hell for her to avoid this wedding. She wanted to flee her wedding so badly that she felt suffocated as the ceremony was about to begin. Every girl's dream is to be the wife of a wealthy man, but she is never happy when she finds out she is going to marry a wealthy man. That wealthy man she is about to marry is nothing more than an iceberg in her eyes. A stoic person that doesn't even smile when people greet him.
"Anna, are you all right?" It was her mother's voice she heard. She turned around to give her a forced smile.
"I had no idea that this day would come so soon. You're getting married, and you look so stunning in that wedding gown, Anna. Mama's little girl has fully matured." Rachel Rae looked at her daughter, softly caressing her cheeks as tears streamed down her cheeks. Anna Rae couldn't stop herself from crying.
"Mama, don't say that. Regardless of what happens. I'll always be mamma and papa's little girl." She hugs her mother tightly because she has no idea what her life will be like after marrying that iceberg. There is no guarantee that he will bring her happiness.
Rachel Rae gently pats Anna's back. "Don’t cry. It will ruin your makeup."
Anna quickly wipes away her tears and smiles sincerely, attempting to appear okay when the truth is that she is never okay with this marriage. She never wanted this marriage. She had a boyfriend, and she had no choice but to end their relationship. The only reason she considered marrying that iceberg was that he might be the only one who could save her father's company from bankruptcy. Isn't it unfair that this is her only chance to be a selfless daughter to her parents?
"I will need to leave first because the ceremony will begin soon. Prepare yourself, please. Mamma adores you." said Rachel, to which Anna only nodded.
Soon after her mother left, there was a commotion and a loud bang on the door which startled the bride, who was in her own thoughts. She widens her eyes in surprise as she looks at the person who caused this racket. "Kai," she murmured, and Kai was dragging her out of her dressing room the next thing she knew.
"What are you doing here?" Anna is still surprised, and she is getting uncomfortable because she was wearing her wedding gown.
Kai Jones rolled his eyes in irritation. "Do you realize what you're doing now? I'd never let you go like that if I knew the man you're going to marry is Ibrahim Saunders. What can you expect from a scumbag like that? If you marry him, your life will be ruined!" This man is extremely enraged.
Anna bit her lower lip as she tried to process what Kai had just said. He could be right. "So, what can I do? My father's company's future is in his hands. I have no choice but to obey him. I'm destined to live in misery with that man as long as he can save my family. I've been causing a lot of problems for my parents, and this is my last chance to save them." said Anna.
"You're completely out of your mind. You're willing to give up your entire life for the sake of money? Anna, forget it. Let us simply run away. There is still time I can take you away from all this." Kai tried to persuade her.
Anna appeared to be thinking for a moment. Should I run away? Could she do it? She was well aware of Ibrahim Saunders' financial dealings with her father. Will their family be okay if she abruptly leaves this wedding? The steps of a man walking inside the dressing room echoed in both of their ears before she could even make a choice. The footsteps were so clear, calm and elegant. When Anna and Kai saw the owner of the footstep, they both got stunned.
The owner of the footstep came to a halt in front of the door and did not appear surprised to see Anna and Kai together. However, before Anna could even put a distance between her and Kai, the owner of the footsteps' gaze turned to her. Caught in the Act. It shocked Anna, seeing his disinterested face. Like seeing the bride run away on her own wedding with her ex is not a big deal for him.
"I heard some intruders making a racket. I suppose it's you." He said it without emotion.
Kai examined this individual from head to toe. Everything he wears is ridiculously expensive. He's dressed in a tailored black suit by designer Desmond Merrion, which is one of the most expensive suits in the world. When he looked down, he noticed that his silver cufflinks were gleaming, with sapphires all around and a diamond in the center. He moved his gaze to his wrist and noticed a Rolex watch. When he looked down, he noticed a familiar spike studded throughout his shoe. It's clear that it's from the designer house Christian Louboutin. Is this how a billionaire dresses?
"Ibrahim" Anna is at a loss for words to describe the situation, but she is well aware that it is not going to end well. She is concerned that Ibrahim will misinterpret the situation. "It's not like......" Ibrahim cut her off before she could explain herself.
"Just run away then." Ibrahim stated. His expression is both calm and dangerous. He has no anger on his face or in his tone of voice. His tone of voice is emotionless, almost as if he doesn't care about what he just witnessed.
He crossed his hands on his chest and leaned against the wall near the door, his gaze fixed on Anna and Kai, "why aren't you both running away now? My time is valuable, and I don't want to waste it on something unimportant, make it quick." he said arrogantly.
Kai was taken aback and perplexed. This scene had never occurred to him; he expected Ibrahim to become enraged, but the reality was quite the opposite. "Are you crazy?" he exclaimed, unable to comprehend the situation.
Ibrahim sighed sharply and approached Anna and Kai. "I'm crazy enough to burn you to ashes, and I'm not going to stop you if you want to take this girl with you." He locked his gaze on Kai, who shivered at the weight those feline eyes had on him.
Kai gulped his saliva, having never imagined that an eye gaze could be so threatening, capable of severing him in pieces. He was mulling over how he should respond to Ibrahim, but before he could say anything, Ibrahim had made up his mind.
"I don't care about your relationship with her. You may flee with her, but I will ensure that both of you bear the consequences of your actions. I'm a businessman, and I don't make rash or pointless investments. You know how much I paid for her? Even your five-year salary would not be enough to cover the expenses." Said Ibrahim. It was sharp and intimidating.
Anna, who was aware of the situation, knew it would not be good if Kai stayed here for too long. She is afraid that the man she is about to marry will cause Kai harm, which she didn't want to happen. "I believe it is best for you to leave now, Kai. As I told you last month, we are over and there is nothing else to say. Ibrahim is right. None of us can bear the consequences of running away." She looked down, disappointed that Ibrahim only saw her as a product he had purchased with his money.
Kai mocked his naïve ex-girlfriend. "None of us, Mr. Billionaire, can predict the future. You better watch your behavior or it will ruin you." He warned and left both Anna and Ibrahim alone in the dressing room. He has no idea that his stomach will contract when Ibrahim is right in front of him.
Anna's legs jellied, and she sat on the stool immediately after Kai left because her wedding gown was so damn heavy. She wishes that she could cry out loud right now, but she can't. She couldn't bring herself to cry in front of this cruel man. Anna had no idea how she would live her life after becoming his wife.
Ibrahim chuckled and shook his head. He doesn't believe he was involved in this childish love story in any way. "If he truly loves you, he will bear the full weight of the consequences. If a simple threat from me can make him give up on you, I'm not sure if he truly loves you. I gave him a chance, but it was his fault that he did not take it. I'll ask a makeup artist to touch up your makeup. Your tears are ruining it, and I don't want the media to speculate that this is a tense and unhappy marriage." He uttered coldly and walked away, leaving the bride alone.
Anna sighed sharply, staring at the door from which that boastful man walked away. She began to doubt herself after the scene with Kai and Ibrahim's assumption of her as something he had owned with his so-called money. What has she gotten herself into? She appears to be making her way towards the tiger dens. Her life will be over once this wedding party is over, and she will be doomed forever.
"I'm going to marry a billionaire like in all those books I read where the super-rich guy falls in love with a poor chick who may not have much in the way of money but is wealthy in vivacity and sprightliness and is really into bondage?" Anna thought, but here the guy didn’t fall in love with her. He didn’t even want to listen to anything related to the word love. Here the guy is so cold that every time she looks at him, she shivered. It always feels like his feline gaze is analyzing her every move. The sound of the violin echoed throughout the church and sounded so lovely that all the guests were eager for the ceremony to begin. The groom and groomsmen were the first to enter the church, followed by the bridesmaids. Then, a man in a black tuxedo, his hand focused on playing the violin, slowly entered the aisle as he escorted the bride, who was walking towards the aisle with her hand linked to her father’s arm. This may be a lovely scene for the guest, but it is not for Anna. She wi
3 months ago The sun shone brightly through the window as the day began. Every morning marks the beginning of a new chapter in one's life. Ibrahim sipped his coffee while staring at his tablet screen. He paid close attention to every detail that was written down. He is a cautious individual who does not want to make any careless mistakes. He was scrolling down the I-pad when he heard the door being abruptly open, and he nearly choked. He was about to erupt in rage because he despises it when someone disrupts his concentration. However, his rage subsided as he noticed the person who barged into his office was none other than his best friend, Alan Gray. The only person he had put his faith upon. Alan exhaled sharply and looked helplessly at Ibrahim. "Are you planning a wedding? What happened? Are you crazy?" asked Alan, looking at the nonchalant man. Ibrahim is still engrossed in his tablet screen, oblivious to Alan's groans. Is there anyone who can take control of his life? No one.
Anna felt as if her entire world was collapsing around her. She had never imagined herself marrying a stranger in her life. Furthermore, he is one of the wealthiest people in the country. It's got to be a joke. She may aspire to marry someone wealthy, but Ibrahim Saunders is not on her list. Because of his arrogant and ruthless behavior, he is well-known throughout the country. He is the last person Anna would have imagined as her husband. "Are you serious, Dad? You're not serious, are you?" Anna asked the same question twice that it was driving her insane that her father still remained silent. He is also depressed because Ibrahim agreed to marry his daughter. Anna's tears have begun to well up in her eyes and are ready to seep. She may be 26 years old, but she does not want to leave her family not yet. They couldn't possibly expect her to marry a stranger. "I despise you all." Anna sobbed and shut herself away in her room. Why is the world so cruel to her? She only wants to marry s
10 weeks prior to the wedding It was a busy day in the city, with a lot of people going back and forth. The subway station is teeming with people, and the bus stop is no exception. Anna looked down at her watch, which read twelve in the afternoon. She sighed softly because she despises getting tangled up in the crowd. She would rather spend more time on her campus than be in the crowd. She took a step back and decided to remain in the faculty lounge. She pulled out her iPad and sketchbook. To keep busy, she scrawls in her sketchbook while listening to music. Art is not only something she enjoys, but it is also her passion. Where words fail to explain, art speaks. Furthermore, art is not what you see but what you make others see. Drawing is one of her specialties. She is a senior in high school. Although she is a gifted student, she despises going to class, especially in the morning. She may have passed the exam with flying colors, but her tardiness in class lowered her final record.
6 weeks prior to the wedding It's been a month since Anna met Ibrahim, and her wedding day is so close. It'll be here in less than two months. Anxious? Yes, she is. She believes she is on the edge from where if she falls, she is not going to be saved by anybody. Every day that passes is like a ticking time bomb for her. She didn't have the courage to tell her friends about her marriage, and she hasn't told her boyfriend, Kai, either. This is insane, and it's getting worse when she notices a black lavish car parked in front of her university building. She has been spending a lot of time on campus lately because she needs to graduate as quickly as possible or else, she will have to wait until next year. “Anna!” Anna was startled by a squeal and turned around to look at the source of the voice. Jacob Murray, her best friend, met him at a club near their university. They have different faculty majors, but they both have one thing in common: they enjoy getting drunk, and alcohol instantl
4 weeks prior to the weddingAnna checked her appearance in the mirror in front of her. She etched a wry grin before grabbing her bag and leaving the room. She went downstairs and found that her family was having dinner."Where are you going?" Rachal, her mother, inquired as she peered at her daughter, who was ready to leave.Anna giggled a little. "Kai is on his way." It's no surprise she's so pleased.Paul, his father, furrowed his eyebrows. “Have you not yet separated from him? Ibrahim will not be pleased if he finds out," he nudged his daughter.Ethan attempted to soothe his father because he did not want to put his younger sister under lots of pressure. She was already going through a lot because of them. He wanted to remove a little burden from her shoulder. “Dad. Anna must have a plan.”When her father mentioned Ibrahim's name, Anna's smile faded. She was well aware that their wedding was only a month away, and Ibrahim had already given wedding gifts to her family. "I know. I'm
A week prior to the wedding Loud, booming laughs reverberated throughout the entire hall as it was the commencement ceremony for visual arts students. Anna grinned as she finally got to wear the black gown with the cap. She is proud of herself for finally graduating, even though she didn't have the highest-grade point, but still she doesn't have to attend the early morning lectures and sleepless assignments deadlines. When her name was called, she walked confidently to the stage and grinned at her family, who were watching her from a distance. Her parents were sitting in the front row, watching her with a proud smile. After the ceremony, all students were allowed to leave the hall, and the majority of them went to the campus field to take photos with their families and friends. They should collect as many memories as they can, because, why not? All of them earned this accomplishment through their sweat and tears. Ethan gave a bouquet of daisies to his sister and planted a kiss on he
Anna had never imagined that her wedding ceremony would be this crowded, and that she would be surrounded by so many people she barely knows. Her family did invite some of her relatives, but majority of the guests were new to her. She can tell by the way they dress that they are not just wealthy but filthy rich and powerful. Furthermore, because his company is spread all over the world, she noticed a lot of foreigners who flew all the way here just to attend their wedding. Ibrahim must be a significant figure. Throughout the ceremony, she was instructed to remain by Ibrahim's side to greet the guests, and a new fact she learned about him is that he is extremely intelligent. She was amazed to learn that her husband could speak four different languages. He speaks Japanese, Chinese, French, and Spanish. She realized it when she overheard him conversing with the guest in their language, which she barely understood. She was surprised seeing the power this man holds over the people here.Sh
In the next second, Anna could feel his lips brush over hers, giving her a warm yet passionate kiss. A kiss that they missed, both. Each time he has her in his arms, she feels frozen. Why does his touch feel so magical? She can feel his tongue asking for entrance as she parted her lips only to let the kiss go wilder. She circled her hand on his neck, and as soon as she wanted to kiss him even deeper, she felt something kicking from her belly again, making her push Ibrahim away.“Why?” Asked Ibrahim frustrated.“He kicked again, it seems like he doesn’t like it when you kiss me.” Anna replied, rubbing her palm on her stomach.Ibrahim grinned at her. “He kicks because he can feel pity for his father that his mother kept on asking his father to go.”Anna glared at Ibrahim. “Don’t make such excuses! Look at the time. It’s almost evening and you should go back now.”“No, I’m not leaving yet if you don’t let me kiss you properly.” Ibrahim shook his head in stubbornness. She immediately stan
Sitting on the dining table, Anna poured the chocolate syrup on Sofia’s pancakes. “I know you liked your pancake with honey but we only have chocolate sauce and agave syrup. You won't mind right?” asked Anna because she knew her husband could be a little picky eater sometimes.Ibrahim was a little touched by her action. She still remembers little things about him. “It’s fine actually I’m very hungry as I haven’t had my dinner last night so I can eat anything.”“The last time I remember you didn’t eat Alan’s restaurant noodles, complaining that it’s too spicy and oily for you. And why didn’t you have your dinner last night? I've told you not to skip it.”Ibrahim smiled. “You still think of me all the time, isn’t it? And no, because I wasn't able to find a good stay here, all the hotels were previously booked because it's a holiday.”“So, where are you staying then?”“Don’t worry the room is small but it’s okay I can manage it.”Anna didn’t ask any further but focused her attention back
The night had turned into day in just a blink of an eye, but Ibrahim couldn't seem to forget what happened between him and Anna. He couldn't give up just because she was giving him the cold shoulder. Even if she keeps on pushing him away, he will always try to come back to her. He couldn't able to endure losing her for the second time. So that’s why now he is here, in front of a two-story bungalow that's located not too far from the beach where he met her.Ibrahim rubbed his palms together to warm himself because the air was getting colder. “Why is it taking her so long to open the door?” He mumbled on his own. However, not long after that, the door was opened. His lips curled up, thinking maybe it was Anna who opened the door, but the smile faded when he saw it was a little girl instead.“Who are you?” The little girl asked, looking at Ibrahim with a confused gaze.Ibrahim was confused as well. He looked at his surroundings and his phone screen, checking if he really had the right ad
Ibrahim heaved a deep sigh. He took off his spectacles as he massaged the bridge of his nose gently. He couldn't help but force himself to concentrate on his work as he looked at the piles of documents he had to go through. He put on his spectacles and moved his gaze back to his notebook screen. At the same time, his phone rang.“Yes Jessica.” He picked up the phone with his left hand while clicking the mouse with his right.“Sir, the annual shareholder conference will be held this afternoon after lunch. I have the documents and presentation slides ready.”Ibrahim kept quiet for a while when he heard Jessica say the annual shareholder conference because it usually takes place somewhere near the end of the year. Oh, how time flies, and it should be his wedding anniversary soon, but he is still here, alone.“Sir, are you there?” Jessica's voice was heard again.“Ah, yes. Notify me when we're about to start.” Ibrahim replied.“Noted.”After sleepless nights, skipping meals, and consuming
Anna POVHow does it feel to live in circumstances where you have to battle with your own feelings? To me, it feels like torture. People said feelings are more dangerous than ideas, because they aren't susceptible to rational evaluation. They grow quietly underground before exploding all over the place. You tend to act in the opposite way from the rational side if you act based on your heart, and vice versa, because your heart doesn't have thoughts.I loved that man. Oh no, I still love him. If the feelings could not be forgotten after sixteen years. I doubt if several months can. Day by day, I missed him a little more than yesterday. I missed his voice. I missed his smile. I missed his smell. I missed his hug, and I missed how he made me feel wanted. I missed how he praises every bit of my body while making love with me. If I love him that much, why would I leave him? I left him not because I no longer love him, but because I love him so much that it started to hurt me.I realized th
The cool breeze blew through her hair softly. The leaves have turned yellow and are slowly falling, filling up the street. Summer slowly collapsed into fall. There is a saying that goes, Autumn leaves don't fall; they fly. They take their time, wander around, and this is their only chance to soar.Anna tightened her coat as soon as she got off the taxi, walking into one of the most famous barbeque restaurants in London Road. Her lips curled up upon looking at the faces that she recognized wholeheartedly. She could see one of them waving their hand at her, and she didn't think twice but to approach them and hug them tightly.“Sorry for the delay. There was a lot of traffic.” Said Anna as she took a seat.Lily laughed softly. “It's okay, Anna. We are used to it.” She joked.“Let's order something first. I'm very hungry.” Jacob interrupted them before they could even start their bickering.Just like in the old days, the three had a nice barbeque meal with cheers and laughter. Anna couldn
“Dad!”Anna shrieked with delight as she noticed her father seated on the couch in their living room, smiling broadly at her. She didn't hesitate, but immediately plunged herself into her father's embrace.“Dad, are you alright? You didn't get hurt anywhere, right? How are you?” Anna bombarded the questions at her father, her eyes welling up with tears.Paul laughed amusedly. “You stupid girl. I’m fine.”“Dad, when did you get home? And why did no one even tell me that you came home.” Anna pouted, still hugging her father. Rachel and Paul looked at each other letting out an awkward laugh which didn’t fit into the environment. She looked confusedly at her parents’ reaction.“It's not such a big deal, Anna. The thing is that I will be fine.” Said her father trying to convince Anna.Anna sighed. “Why didn't you tell me? I have been so worried about you.”It's not that he refuses to tell her daughter. She just got discharged from the hospital and he does not want to add more pressure to h
“Okay. I will do everything you want, but could you please consider your thoughts again?” Asked Ibrahim as he looked at Anna with an expectant gaze.Could she really tell him to stop giving her that look? It feels like she is going to break down soon. He had become her weakness as much as she became his.“I have told you. We are done, and there is nothing more that we can do. I can’t even if I want to.” She replied the last sentence like a mere whisper without looking at him, trying to sound firm, but deep inside her heart, she's crying hysterically.Ibrahim tried to inhale as much air as he could to calm himself down because the atmosphere started to become suffocating for both of them. There was a brief moment of silence before he dared to look into her eyes, again.“Anna, do you remember when I first met you in the French restaurant?” Asked Ibrahim.Of course, she does, and things in her head start to fly back to the first time they met, when Luke had to gather all of his forces to
Alan patted Ibrahim's shoulder lightly, as if he were giving him strength. He even gave him a light smile. “Everything will be alright, Ibrahim.” He spoke.Ibrahim sighed instead. It has been two days since Anna was admitted in the hospital, and he couldn't see her since she was awake because he was told that she didn't want to see him. It feels extremely excruciating for him.“Do you think she wanted to see me now?” Ibrahim asked with his head held low.“Where did the strong headed Ibrahim Saunders go?” said Alan trying to calm him down. He understands from which phase his best friend is going through and he knows how to make Ibrahim face this situation, a little push is what he needed right now. Ibrahim looked up at Alan in confusion. “What do you mean? It's not the time to joke around.”“I have known you for how many years… twenty years Ibrahim. You’re a strong and capable man that everyone in his office is afraid of, but the one in front of me now is a coward.” Alan said, trying
