"I'm going to marry a billionaire like in all those books I read where the super-rich guy falls in love with a poor chick who may not have much in the way of money but is wealthy in vivacity and sprightliness and is really into bondage?" Anna thought, but here the guy didn’t fall in love with her. He didn’t even want to listen to anything related to the word love. Here the guy is so cold that every time she looks at him, she shivered. It always feels like his feline gaze is analyzing her every move.
The sound of the violin echoed throughout the church and sounded so lovely that all the guests were eager for the ceremony to begin. The groom and groomsmen were the first to enter the church, followed by the bridesmaids. Then, a man in a black tuxedo, his hand focused on playing the violin, slowly entered the aisle as he escorted the bride, who was walking towards the aisle with her hand linked to her father’s arm.
This may be a lovely scene for the guest, but it is not for Anna. She wished time would stop ticking so she could wake up from this nightmare. This, regrettably, is not a dream; the man standing in front of the altar will be her husband in a matter of minutes. That cruel man shows no emotion and stands there like an iceberg. Anna and her father eventually arrived at the altar, no matter how slowly she tried to walk.
Paul Rae cast a thoughtful look at Ibrahim. "She is my daughter, whom I raised with love. Even if you don't love her, please protect and treasure her as we did. If you decide you no longer want her, don't dump her instead, send her back to me because I'll always be there for her." said Paul, his heart pounded in his chest as he give Anna's hand to Ibrahim.
Anna felt compelled to cry again for a brief moment, but she fought the urge to do so. She, too, was taken aback when she noticed Ibrahim's face was etched with a smile. When she saw his smile, her heart nearly burst. "You can count on me, Mr. Rae," Ibrahim assured him.
The wedding ceremony has officially begun. The priest began the ceremony with a prayer, and then it was time for the couple to say their vows. Anna's heart is racing so hard right now. She is extremely nervous. What person wouldn't be? The man next to her is listed as one of the country's young billionaires. Every girl may be vying for her position right now, unaware of how dangerous this young billionaire could be.
"Welcome, dear ones. We have gathered here to celebrate the marriage of Ibrahim Saunders and Anna Rae. Please repeat after me, Ibrahim." The priest made a request.
Ibrahim took a step closer to her and lifted her veil. He was so captured with her natural beauty for a split second that he was stunned. He quickly regained his composure and took a deep breath before saying his vows. He reached for her hand with his right hand while holding the microphone in his left. He began to say his vows.
"I, Ibrahim Saunders, take you as my wife, Anna Rae. I promise to love you unconditionally, to laugh with you when you're happy, to cry with you when you're sad, to guide you when you ask for help, and to challenge you to be a better person. I promise to cherish you forever, to honor and sustain you in sickness and health, in poverty and in wealth, and to be true to you in all things until death separates us." He said so confidently that for a moment, this wedding really feels real. "From now on, you will not walk alone. My heart will always be your safe haven, and my arms will always be your refuge." He added, his hand still tightly gripping hers. This man knows how to put on a good show.
Anna couldn't help but look moved. His vows are so lovely. Too exquisite until she remembers it's all a show. He wasn't saying all this through his heart. It's all a part of a show. Ibrahim's gaze was so deep in her eyes, for a moment, she felt lost in it.
"Anna, please repeat after me." The priest requested to the bride.
Anna took the microphone and gripped it tightly with her trembling hands. She began to say her vows. "I, Anna Rae, took you, Ibrahim Saunders, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death do us part." She finally uttered her vows. After the vows, they exchanged the rings.
"Now that Ibrahim Saunders and Anna Rae have made solemn vows to each other, with the joining of hands and the giving and receiving of rings, I pronounce them husband and wife." The priest declared, and a loud handclap followed.
The priest concludes the ceremony with a prayer and blessing for the couple. The priest's final sentence nearly caused Anna's jaw to drop to the floor.
"Ibrahim and Anna Saunders, having witnessed your love vows to one another, it is my pleasure to present you as husband and wife to all gathered here. You may kiss the bride."
What? A kiss?
Anna was startled when a soft yet wet surface touched her lips. She was speechless for a while because she didn't know what to say. She can tell his lips are moist because it tasted so chewy. She would have dropped to her knees if he hadn't supported her by circling his large arms around her waist, as her body was jellied by his kiss. His other hand is grabbing her nape in anticipation for a deeper kiss. He was aware that this girl was taken aback by the unexpected kiss, but he felt obligated to put on a good show additionally, her captivating lips look so alluring that he has no idea why it felt so good just by kissing her. He didn't even give her a chance to defend herself before attacking her with his tongue. He quickly broke the kiss before he embarrassed himself more.
Meanwhile, Anna is still perplexed by the kiss. A loud hand clap and cheer rang out throughout the church. Ibrahim and Anna both tried their hardest to smile. But neither of them realized that when this party ended, a new beginning awaited them to play with their fate.
3 months ago The sun shone brightly through the window as the day began. Every morning marks the beginning of a new chapter in one's life. Ibrahim sipped his coffee while staring at his tablet screen. He paid close attention to every detail that was written down. He is a cautious individual who does not want to make any careless mistakes. He was scrolling down the I-pad when he heard the door being abruptly open, and he nearly choked. He was about to erupt in rage because he despises it when someone disrupts his concentration. However, his rage subsided as he noticed the person who barged into his office was none other than his best friend, Alan Gray. The only person he had put his faith upon. Alan exhaled sharply and looked helplessly at Ibrahim. "Are you planning a wedding? What happened? Are you crazy?" asked Alan, looking at the nonchalant man. Ibrahim is still engrossed in his tablet screen, oblivious to Alan's groans. Is there anyone who can take control of his life? No one.
Anna felt as if her entire world was collapsing around her. She had never imagined herself marrying a stranger in her life. Furthermore, he is one of the wealthiest people in the country. It's got to be a joke. She may aspire to marry someone wealthy, but Ibrahim Saunders is not on her list. Because of his arrogant and ruthless behavior, he is well-known throughout the country. He is the last person Anna would have imagined as her husband. "Are you serious, Dad? You're not serious, are you?" Anna asked the same question twice that it was driving her insane that her father still remained silent. He is also depressed because Ibrahim agreed to marry his daughter. Anna's tears have begun to well up in her eyes and are ready to seep. She may be 26 years old, but she does not want to leave her family not yet. They couldn't possibly expect her to marry a stranger. "I despise you all." Anna sobbed and shut herself away in her room. Why is the world so cruel to her? She only wants to marry s
10 weeks prior to the wedding It was a busy day in the city, with a lot of people going back and forth. The subway station is teeming with people, and the bus stop is no exception. Anna looked down at her watch, which read twelve in the afternoon. She sighed softly because she despises getting tangled up in the crowd. She would rather spend more time on her campus than be in the crowd. She took a step back and decided to remain in the faculty lounge. She pulled out her iPad and sketchbook. To keep busy, she scrawls in her sketchbook while listening to music. Art is not only something she enjoys, but it is also her passion. Where words fail to explain, art speaks. Furthermore, art is not what you see but what you make others see. Drawing is one of her specialties. She is a senior in high school. Although she is a gifted student, she despises going to class, especially in the morning. She may have passed the exam with flying colors, but her tardiness in class lowered her final record.
6 weeks prior to the wedding It's been a month since Anna met Ibrahim, and her wedding day is so close. It'll be here in less than two months. Anxious? Yes, she is. She believes she is on the edge from where if she falls, she is not going to be saved by anybody. Every day that passes is like a ticking time bomb for her. She didn't have the courage to tell her friends about her marriage, and she hasn't told her boyfriend, Kai, either. This is insane, and it's getting worse when she notices a black lavish car parked in front of her university building. She has been spending a lot of time on campus lately because she needs to graduate as quickly as possible or else, she will have to wait until next year. “Anna!” Anna was startled by a squeal and turned around to look at the source of the voice. Jacob Murray, her best friend, met him at a club near their university. They have different faculty majors, but they both have one thing in common: they enjoy getting drunk, and alcohol instantl
4 weeks prior to the weddingAnna checked her appearance in the mirror in front of her. She etched a wry grin before grabbing her bag and leaving the room. She went downstairs and found that her family was having dinner."Where are you going?" Rachal, her mother, inquired as she peered at her daughter, who was ready to leave.Anna giggled a little. "Kai is on his way." It's no surprise she's so pleased.Paul, his father, furrowed his eyebrows. “Have you not yet separated from him? Ibrahim will not be pleased if he finds out," he nudged his daughter.Ethan attempted to soothe his father because he did not want to put his younger sister under lots of pressure. She was already going through a lot because of them. He wanted to remove a little burden from her shoulder. “Dad. Anna must have a plan.”When her father mentioned Ibrahim's name, Anna's smile faded. She was well aware that their wedding was only a month away, and Ibrahim had already given wedding gifts to her family. "I know. I'm
A week prior to the wedding Loud, booming laughs reverberated throughout the entire hall as it was the commencement ceremony for visual arts students. Anna grinned as she finally got to wear the black gown with the cap. She is proud of herself for finally graduating, even though she didn't have the highest-grade point, but still she doesn't have to attend the early morning lectures and sleepless assignments deadlines. When her name was called, she walked confidently to the stage and grinned at her family, who were watching her from a distance. Her parents were sitting in the front row, watching her with a proud smile. After the ceremony, all students were allowed to leave the hall, and the majority of them went to the campus field to take photos with their families and friends. They should collect as many memories as they can, because, why not? All of them earned this accomplishment through their sweat and tears. Ethan gave a bouquet of daisies to his sister and planted a kiss on he
Anna had never imagined that her wedding ceremony would be this crowded, and that she would be surrounded by so many people she barely knows. Her family did invite some of her relatives, but majority of the guests were new to her. She can tell by the way they dress that they are not just wealthy but filthy rich and powerful. Furthermore, because his company is spread all over the world, she noticed a lot of foreigners who flew all the way here just to attend their wedding. Ibrahim must be a significant figure. Throughout the ceremony, she was instructed to remain by Ibrahim's side to greet the guests, and a new fact she learned about him is that he is extremely intelligent. She was amazed to learn that her husband could speak four different languages. He speaks Japanese, Chinese, French, and Spanish. She realized it when she overheard him conversing with the guest in their language, which she barely understood. She was surprised seeing the power this man holds over the people here.Sh
"Welcome home, Mr. and Miss Saunders, and congratulations for your wedding. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness and love." a middle aged woman welcomed them as soon as the door opened.Anna's mouth dropped open in surprise when she arrived at her new home. She could see a line of maids waiting to receive them. This is completely insane, totally different from what she expected. How wealthy is this man? Because she was unfamiliar with this type of treatment, Anna too bowed back casually, which irked Ibrahim slightly."They're maids, and we don't bow to them." Ibrahim spoke haughtily.Anna scoffed and turned to face the others. So, this is how the wealthy people live? She was impressed even before she stepped into his yard. The yard in front of his house is so large that she could see a flower garden and a gazebo.“Wow.” She murmured softly when she looked around the house. His house is even larger than a mansion. The sleek and modern interior is extremely appealing. The furniture d
In the next second, Anna could feel his lips brush over hers, giving her a warm yet passionate kiss. A kiss that they missed, both. Each time he has her in his arms, she feels frozen. Why does his touch feel so magical? She can feel his tongue asking for entrance as she parted her lips only to let the kiss go wilder. She circled her hand on his neck, and as soon as she wanted to kiss him even deeper, she felt something kicking from her belly again, making her push Ibrahim away.“Why?” Asked Ibrahim frustrated.“He kicked again, it seems like he doesn’t like it when you kiss me.” Anna replied, rubbing her palm on her stomach.Ibrahim grinned at her. “He kicks because he can feel pity for his father that his mother kept on asking his father to go.”Anna glared at Ibrahim. “Don’t make such excuses! Look at the time. It’s almost evening and you should go back now.”“No, I’m not leaving yet if you don’t let me kiss you properly.” Ibrahim shook his head in stubbornness. She immediately stan
Sitting on the dining table, Anna poured the chocolate syrup on Sofia’s pancakes. “I know you liked your pancake with honey but we only have chocolate sauce and agave syrup. You won't mind right?” asked Anna because she knew her husband could be a little picky eater sometimes.Ibrahim was a little touched by her action. She still remembers little things about him. “It’s fine actually I’m very hungry as I haven’t had my dinner last night so I can eat anything.”“The last time I remember you didn’t eat Alan’s restaurant noodles, complaining that it’s too spicy and oily for you. And why didn’t you have your dinner last night? I've told you not to skip it.”Ibrahim smiled. “You still think of me all the time, isn’t it? And no, because I wasn't able to find a good stay here, all the hotels were previously booked because it's a holiday.”“So, where are you staying then?”“Don’t worry the room is small but it’s okay I can manage it.”Anna didn’t ask any further but focused her attention back
The night had turned into day in just a blink of an eye, but Ibrahim couldn't seem to forget what happened between him and Anna. He couldn't give up just because she was giving him the cold shoulder. Even if she keeps on pushing him away, he will always try to come back to her. He couldn't able to endure losing her for the second time. So that’s why now he is here, in front of a two-story bungalow that's located not too far from the beach where he met her.Ibrahim rubbed his palms together to warm himself because the air was getting colder. “Why is it taking her so long to open the door?” He mumbled on his own. However, not long after that, the door was opened. His lips curled up, thinking maybe it was Anna who opened the door, but the smile faded when he saw it was a little girl instead.“Who are you?” The little girl asked, looking at Ibrahim with a confused gaze.Ibrahim was confused as well. He looked at his surroundings and his phone screen, checking if he really had the right ad
Ibrahim heaved a deep sigh. He took off his spectacles as he massaged the bridge of his nose gently. He couldn't help but force himself to concentrate on his work as he looked at the piles of documents he had to go through. He put on his spectacles and moved his gaze back to his notebook screen. At the same time, his phone rang.“Yes Jessica.” He picked up the phone with his left hand while clicking the mouse with his right.“Sir, the annual shareholder conference will be held this afternoon after lunch. I have the documents and presentation slides ready.”Ibrahim kept quiet for a while when he heard Jessica say the annual shareholder conference because it usually takes place somewhere near the end of the year. Oh, how time flies, and it should be his wedding anniversary soon, but he is still here, alone.“Sir, are you there?” Jessica's voice was heard again.“Ah, yes. Notify me when we're about to start.” Ibrahim replied.“Noted.”After sleepless nights, skipping meals, and consuming
Anna POVHow does it feel to live in circumstances where you have to battle with your own feelings? To me, it feels like torture. People said feelings are more dangerous than ideas, because they aren't susceptible to rational evaluation. They grow quietly underground before exploding all over the place. You tend to act in the opposite way from the rational side if you act based on your heart, and vice versa, because your heart doesn't have thoughts.I loved that man. Oh no, I still love him. If the feelings could not be forgotten after sixteen years. I doubt if several months can. Day by day, I missed him a little more than yesterday. I missed his voice. I missed his smile. I missed his smell. I missed his hug, and I missed how he made me feel wanted. I missed how he praises every bit of my body while making love with me. If I love him that much, why would I leave him? I left him not because I no longer love him, but because I love him so much that it started to hurt me.I realized th
The cool breeze blew through her hair softly. The leaves have turned yellow and are slowly falling, filling up the street. Summer slowly collapsed into fall. There is a saying that goes, Autumn leaves don't fall; they fly. They take their time, wander around, and this is their only chance to soar.Anna tightened her coat as soon as she got off the taxi, walking into one of the most famous barbeque restaurants in London Road. Her lips curled up upon looking at the faces that she recognized wholeheartedly. She could see one of them waving their hand at her, and she didn't think twice but to approach them and hug them tightly.“Sorry for the delay. There was a lot of traffic.” Said Anna as she took a seat.Lily laughed softly. “It's okay, Anna. We are used to it.” She joked.“Let's order something first. I'm very hungry.” Jacob interrupted them before they could even start their bickering.Just like in the old days, the three had a nice barbeque meal with cheers and laughter. Anna couldn
“Dad!”Anna shrieked with delight as she noticed her father seated on the couch in their living room, smiling broadly at her. She didn't hesitate, but immediately plunged herself into her father's embrace.“Dad, are you alright? You didn't get hurt anywhere, right? How are you?” Anna bombarded the questions at her father, her eyes welling up with tears.Paul laughed amusedly. “You stupid girl. I’m fine.”“Dad, when did you get home? And why did no one even tell me that you came home.” Anna pouted, still hugging her father. Rachel and Paul looked at each other letting out an awkward laugh which didn’t fit into the environment. She looked confusedly at her parents’ reaction.“It's not such a big deal, Anna. The thing is that I will be fine.” Said her father trying to convince Anna.Anna sighed. “Why didn't you tell me? I have been so worried about you.”It's not that he refuses to tell her daughter. She just got discharged from the hospital and he does not want to add more pressure to h
“Okay. I will do everything you want, but could you please consider your thoughts again?” Asked Ibrahim as he looked at Anna with an expectant gaze.Could she really tell him to stop giving her that look? It feels like she is going to break down soon. He had become her weakness as much as she became his.“I have told you. We are done, and there is nothing more that we can do. I can’t even if I want to.” She replied the last sentence like a mere whisper without looking at him, trying to sound firm, but deep inside her heart, she's crying hysterically.Ibrahim tried to inhale as much air as he could to calm himself down because the atmosphere started to become suffocating for both of them. There was a brief moment of silence before he dared to look into her eyes, again.“Anna, do you remember when I first met you in the French restaurant?” Asked Ibrahim.Of course, she does, and things in her head start to fly back to the first time they met, when Luke had to gather all of his forces to
Alan patted Ibrahim's shoulder lightly, as if he were giving him strength. He even gave him a light smile. “Everything will be alright, Ibrahim.” He spoke.Ibrahim sighed instead. It has been two days since Anna was admitted in the hospital, and he couldn't see her since she was awake because he was told that she didn't want to see him. It feels extremely excruciating for him.“Do you think she wanted to see me now?” Ibrahim asked with his head held low.“Where did the strong headed Ibrahim Saunders go?” said Alan trying to calm him down. He understands from which phase his best friend is going through and he knows how to make Ibrahim face this situation, a little push is what he needed right now. Ibrahim looked up at Alan in confusion. “What do you mean? It's not the time to joke around.”“I have known you for how many years… twenty years Ibrahim. You’re a strong and capable man that everyone in his office is afraid of, but the one in front of me now is a coward.” Alan said, trying
