105 Aftermath

Marcus carried me to bed and held me in his arms. We cried together that night, and for the first time, Marcus was thinking of us leaving everything. I knew it would be unwise, but it was too much.

I held on to Marcus's arms on my belly, and he held on tight as we spooned. We both knew there was a lot to do. Bodies to bury, people to console, and a traitor to question and a plan to make, but we needed the peace and quiet. We needed peace. We deserved peace, and I held my baby bump.

My heart went out to Ginger and my father. This wasn't the time to bring a baby into this world. If the war is still on when she gives birth, I will plead with my father to give everything up and go and live like a human in the human part of our world. It was the least he could do for his little one.
