I sit next to Dex quietly with my eyes down on the ground as he speaks to Father and Grant. At that moment Grant and Father were arguing which is what they have been doing for the last five minutes. Dex sat up and cleared his throat which caused everyone's eyes on him even mine. He was looking at the wall. "You are the ones who requested a meeting with me. You are wasting my time. I highly suggest you talk very fast."
"I asked for a meeting with you. Not with William." Dex looks at Grant.
"Get to the point of you being here, Grant." Grant opens his mouth to say something but Dex shakes his head. He huffs.
"I am here because I think Olivia is worth more." Luca snorts causing Olivia and me to look at him. He smiles and leans on the couch behind me.
"Olivia used to be worth more but now she isn't." Grant scuffs.
"I disagree." Dex sighs.
"Olivia has been a huge pain in my ass. If you are asking for more for her then you aren't getting it. I suggest you walk out with what you have or you get nothing at all and I still keep her." Grant huffed. Father looks at me.
"How much is Grace worth?" He asked. Dex looks at him and looks at me. I look at Dex as he looks me up and down. He smirks and turns to him.
"William, you and I have been really great friends for some time now. I would highly recommend you don't say or do something to jeopardize that." Father looks at him with a smile.
"You are giving me the same amount you are giving Grant. But the difference is you aren't currently sleeping with his daughter. And you aren't marrying her anymore either." Dex hums.
"Correct, however, I am not going to pay you any more money unless you and I talk about a date. Unless you give me a date you will keep getting what I give Grant." Father nods.
"This Friday," I stood up surprised. Dex looks at me. I hug myself as I look at Father. He looks at me amused. "Something wrong, Grace?" I looked at him and gulped. Olivia laughs.
"Little Miss Perfect doesn't want to follow the rules." She mumbles. I glanced at her to see she thought it was amusing. I opened my mouth to say something but closed it and sat back down.
"Is that what you want?" Dex asked. I look at him to see his eyes on me. He turns his attention to Father. "A wedding in three days?" I looked at Father with pleading eyes which only made him smirk more.
"I want it doubled," He said switching his gaze onto Dex. Dex nods.
"Friday then." He stands up as did Father and Grant. He shook father's hand. He looks at Grant. "You are welcome to attend the wedding." Grant nods. I look at Luca who looked a bit shocked himself. He walks around the couch to walk them out and I walk upstairs. I sigh and lay back in the bed. I picked up my phone and dialed a number I was hesitating to call.
"Hello?" He said. I take a deep breath.
"I am getting married," I breathed.
"Grace?" He asked surprised. I closed my eyes. "Wait, what? Your father actually agreed to allow him to marry you?"
"Yes," He takes a deep breath.
"Well, how bad is it? I can make an offer." I shake my head and sit up.
"You don't have to do that." He scuffs.
"I will if I have to." I shake my head again.
"Dex doesn't treat me bad. It's not as bad as I thought it was going to be."
"Do you trust him?" I think about it.
"Yes," He sighs.
"I will be there tomorrow," I swallowed harshly.
"Ken, you don't have to."
"I will see you tomorrow, Grace." I nod.
"Fine, okay,"
"Goodnight Grace,"
"Goodnight Ken." The phone goes dead and I look at the ground. I woke up the next morning to shuffling on the bed. I look over to see Dex looking up at the ceiling. I sit up and look at him. "How long have you been up?" He swallows.
"A few hours." I look at him surprised.
"What have you been doing?" With his eyes still on the ceiling he replies.
"I was watching you sleep for a little bit." I nod and flip the blankets off of me. I open my closet and start going through the clothes. "Who were you on the phone with last night?" I gulp and look at the clothes.
"A friend of mine," I say quietly.
"A friend of yours that has enough money to make an offer for you?" I turned to him and for the first time since I woke up his eyes were on me.
"He's a gang leader." He sits up.
"Is that what you want? For him to make an offer for you?" I look away from him.
"I have known him for a few years. He's always looked out for me."
"Do you have feelings for him?" I look back at Dex.
"No," He narrows his eyes.
"You don't?" I shake my head. "I thought you said I was the first guy to show you kindness?" I nod.
"You are the first guy that was a business thing that didn't treat me like I was a whore. Ken is the first guy that I met that helped because he wanted to with nothing in return." He nods slowly.
"And you don't like this guy?" I give him a small smile.
"You are jealous?" He sighs and slides off of the bed.
"I am allowed to be jealous." I giggle. He walks over to his closet. I got dressed in a light tan summer dress that fell just above my knees. I threw my hair into a ponytail and turned to Dex who was back in his tux. He finishes up with his jacket and walks towards the door. "Let's go get ready for your friend." I looked at him to see if he had anger but he didn't look like he was angry at all. I take a deep breath just as a knock comes from the door. Dex opens it. Luca smiles.
"Kenneth Walker is downstairs." Dex looks at me.
"Kenneth from the Horsemen gang?" I nod. He sighs and turns back to Luca. "Alright move." Luca steps aside and I follow Dex downstairs. I made it to the bottom step and Ken's eyes were on me the whole time. "Kenneth? It's been a long time." Ken nods and looks at Dex.
"Yes, it has." Dex nods as he pours himself a glass of bourbon. I looked at Kenneth to see that he looked good. He had fresh faded hair cut and seems he added a few more tattoos to his arms. The plain black t-shirt he wore hugged him perfectly as did the grey joggers he wore. He turns his attention back on me with a smile. "I see you have been doing good." I give him a small smile.
"I told you it's not bad here." He nods as he looks me up and down.
"Well, considering you are getting married I figured I would see you before since it has been a few months." I look down. Dex hums.
"What could you offer me?" I look at Dex as does Ken.
"Excuse me?" Dex shrugs.
"You told Grace you would make an offer. What could you offer me?" I look at Ken to see him smiling.
"I've got information that may be of some use to you." Dex scuffs.
"I have more information than you must realize." Ken chuckles.
"The location of Roy Wilson?" Dex takes a step forward surprised. Ken chuckles again. "I have the means to completely crumble Willimans empire. I have the means to bury Grant. I have information that you may not think exists. Just ask Grace. She could tell you exactly how good I am at making offers." Dex looks at me and I look at him. He sighs and turns back to him.
"Is that what you are doing? Making offers?" Ken shrugs.
"Depends on if you are willing to take them." I look at Ken and he looks at me.
"I'm sorry but Grace is worth more than anything you can offer." I look at Dex confused. He looks at me. "But if that is what you want I can take an offer?" I shake my head at him.
"I didn't want him here to make you an offer. He is here to show his support and observe. Anything he has to offer is not on the table." Dex nods.
"Grace?" Ken says. I look at him.
"You want me? You would trade anything you had for me?" He nods.
"I told you before if I have to I will." I cross my arms.
"You don't have to. I am happy where I am." He looked at me surprised.
"You are happy?" I nod. He sighs. "Okay," I let out a breath of air I didn't realize I was holding in. Arms went around my waist and I look up to see Dex watching me.
"Are you going to keep your answer about the marriage thing?" I nod. He smiles. "Than we are getting married in two days." I look down lost in thought.
"Kenneth Walker?" I hear. I look past Dex to see Olivia smiling as she walks down the stairs. I look at Ken as he looks at her with a smile.
"Olivia Manson? Aren't you a sight for sore eyes?" I scuff.
"I'll say," I mumbled while crossing my arms. Olivia glares at me as she reaches the bottom. She opens her mouth to say something.
"Do not start." Dex snapped and she looked at him and gulped.
"What am I missing?" Ken asks. Olivia turns to him while crossing her arms.
"I was to be married to Dex first until he saw her and now they are getting married. I'm stuck in this house to obey his orders." She said. I look at Ken as he looks at me for more information. I roll my eyes.
"Grant sold her to Dex but Dex didn't want to marry her anymore. Dex let her leave with her father and then I came along. She came to visit with her dad on a business trip but decided to get cocky and now she's stuck here to complain." I said looking at her. She glares. I roll my eyes and look back at Ken. "How do you know her?" He tucks his hand in his pockets.
"She and I used to date. We broke up on a good note and we just stayed friends." I look at her and back him.
"Now I know you had your desperate moments but I didn't think you were that desperate." He scuffs.
"Hey," I giggle.
"Can't be too desperate if he wouldn't date you," She says. I look at her.
"Why don't you do what you do best and follow Luca around like a lost puppy?" She takes a step towards me.
"Olivia!" Ken and Dex chime. She looks at both of them and takes a step back. She turns around and walks up the stairs. I look at Ken for a moment before looking at Dex who looked pissed as he looked at Ken.
"I apologize. It's not my place and she's not mine to boss around." Dex nodded.
"You just better be grateful it wasn't Grace." I look at Dex. His eyes go on mine. "You have a wedding to plan today. Do something with your friend." I nod as he walks away. I turn back to Ken. He sighs as he tucks his hands in his pockets.
"I should have known not to piss off the king. He can bury me without blinking." I roll my eyes.
"He wouldn't do that." He scuffs.
"And why are you so sure?" I shrug as I turn towards the living room.
"Because he knows I care about you."
"Your friend didn't seem to like that you are getting married to me," Dex says as he gets down the steps. I look at him surprised. "Ken just wants what's best for me." He nods as he slides on his jacket. "If that were the case then why didn't he make an offer to William for you?" I sigh and look down. "He did but my father didn't take his offer because he wanted to get to you," he scuffs causing me to look up at him. "So Kenneth made an offer that your father refused because of me?" I nod slowly. He lets out a dry smile. "He came into my house telling me things he can offer because he knew exactly what I would want?" He pauses as he looks at me for a minute. "Well, there's something he didn't realize." He said walking past me to the mirror "What is that?" I asked. He looked at me. "I want you more." I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face as I heard footsteps behind me. I turn around to see Olivia folding her arms and Luca walking behind her. "Do I really have to g
I walk downstairs in a baby blue jumpsuit that consists of shorts and a tank top. I was barefoot because I didn't care about how I looked in the house. I made sure that I took off my makeup from earlier and put my hair in a messy bun. Luca smiles as I met him at the bottom of the steps. "You look beautiful," I roll my eyes. "I do not. I just took a shower." He nods. "You look beautiful just being you," I smile. "Thanks," He nods. We walk to the dining room and Dex was nowhere to be seen. I turn to Luca. "Where is he?" He shrugs. "I got here and he wasn't here so I have no idea." I nod slowly. I hear clicking behind me to see Olivia. She looks at me and gives me a small smile. "Thank you for sticking up for me with Dex." I nod. "He lets his temper get out of control sometimes." She nods in agreement. The bell rings and I look back at the door. "Ignore it. Hunter, the butler, will get it." Luca says. I turn to him with crossed arms. "When did we get a butler?" He looks at me. "
I get up out of bed with Dex still asleep which I didn't mind. I get into the shower and I stayed in there for a while before getting out. I wanted to prepare myself for the long day I was going to have. I walk out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around me. I walk up to my closet and look in the closet. I sigh. "Is there a problem with your wardrobe?" Dex's voice filled the air. I look back at him. He was sitting up and leaning against the backboard of the bed. "We are having a big dinner with your family and a bunch of people I don't know. I don't know what to wear." He smiles. "Do you want a new outfit?" I scuff and look back at the closet. "There are over a thousand outfits in the closet that I haven't used and doubt I will be able to wear them all." He sighs as he folds his arms behind his head. I look at his muscles and veins that were popping. "What would you like me to do?" He asked. "Put a shirt on," I mumbled. He gives me a small smirk. "What?" I clear my throat an
"Remember what I told you?" Father asked me as he turned to me. I look away from the white oak door to him and nod. "Stay quiet and smile?" He gives me a slight grin. "As soon as we walk through that door the deal is done. Dex is free to deal with you as he pleases. I would try to listen as best as you can because his temper is almost as bad as mine." I swallowed harshly as I glanced at Mom who looked at me with a smile and nodded. I look back at Father and nod. "Okay," I breathe. He nods and turns to the door. It opens and I get a heavy wave over my chest. I knew this was it. I was going to get married at the age of 24 to a man I'd never met. Father stepped inside and was greeted by a man who looked a few years older than me. He had black hair and brown eyes. He looked very fit as if he worked out every day. He dressed in designer clothes that a rich man would wear. He spoke with a Mexican accent as he shook father's hand. I glanced at the guy standing next to him who listened to
I walked out of my room wearing a looser dress that hugged me on the top but was loose on the bottom. I didn't bother wearing shoes because I was inside and didn't plan on going anywhere. I was halfway down the steps when Luca peeked around the corner and smiled. "I was just about to go get you. Food is done." I nod. I opened my mouth to reply when a pair of hands placed on my waist. "You look beautiful." Dex breathes in my ear. I smile and look at him. "When did you get back?" He smiles. "Half an hour ago." I gave him a sad look. "You didn't tell me." His smile deepens. "I didn't think you wanted to be bothered." I nodded. "With Luca cooking, I was bored watching tv." "I will remember to check in with you next time." I smile. "Good." He chuckles. I turn as his hands drop. I finish walking down the steps and get to the kitchen to smell the rich scent of the spaghetti sauce. I hum as I walk up to the table. Luca looks at me. I sigh as I finish reading a chapter in The Notebook. I close the book to the sound of the front door opening up. My father and Dex walk in. I stand up from the couch as Luca sits up from the other couch where he was watching TV. Dex looks back at me and I look at him with a small smile. My eyes went to my father as he turned to me. I gulp as he narrows his eyes. I look down. "Grace?" Dex said. I look up at him to see him watching me. "Yes?" He holds out his hand. "Come here beautiful." I walk over to him and he wraps his arm around me. He places a kiss on my cheek and I let out a small smile. "How did your shopping go?" He asked. I clear my throat as I lift up my hand to show him the shiny 18-karat diamond ring with three diamonds. One big diamond and two small diamonds. It was very beautiful but extremely expensive. I look up at his face to see him smile. "I hope you didn't pick it based on the price?" I shake my head. "I wouldn't let her," Luca said as he walked in. Dex looks at
I roll over to my side only to lay on someone's chest. I scrunch up my face and open my eyes a little to see it was Dex. I picked up my hand from his chest and sit up. I look around the room and sighed. "Lay back down and get some more sleep." I hear a husky voice say. I look at Dex and shake my head. "No, I'm up now." He smiles and pulls me back down to him. I fall on him and groan. I look up at him. He smiles. "I want more sleep." I roll my eyes. "Don't you have to go to work?" He shakes his head. "Not unless I want to. It's nice to be the boss." A knock comes from his door and he groans. "Go away, Luca!" He yells. The door opens and Luca walks in. "I wish I could but Olivia is here and Grant." I look at Luca. He looks at me with a smile. "Good morning sunshine." I smile back at him. "Good morning, Luca." Dex groans again causing me to look at him. He looks at me and stops. "You have to get up." He shakes his head. I look away from Olivia and turn to Dex. He looks at me curiously and motions me over. I walk over to him. "Sit, beautiful." I sit beside him, and he places his hand on my thigh. "What were you saying?" He spoke loudly, and I was a bit confused as to why, if I was sitting next to him, his head turned in Olivia's direction. She smiled as she walked over to us and sat on the empty couch. "I was asking her what made her so special that you chose her over me?" Dex lets out a hum. "Olivia, why don't you sit there and look pretty." She lets out a giggle. "What's the matter, Dex? Trying to hide the fact that you don't have an answer for me and you aren't trying to say the obvious?" "Please do tell." "You only wanted me until you got me in your bed; then you didn't want me anymore. That's the only reason you wanted to make a deal with my father." He smiles as he lets out a long sigh. I heard Olivia stop what she was about to say which caused me to look at them for a moment. "Speaking of the bitch." I rolled my eyes at her and went to grab a soda out of the fridge when she stepped in my way. I looked at her bored of her games."Olivia, I highly suggest you try not to get on Dex's bad side today. You've almost got him to his snapping point." Luca said. She holds up her hand at him. "How about you shut up Luca." She said with her eyes still on me. I fold my arms a bit surprised.
